Would it be possible to veneer the v8 or make a wood case to replace the plastic? I love the look of your work
I did a google search and I came up with the oval v8. If this is what you are talking about, I can't make anything for it. The lathe only turns round. I did see a guy that was doing veneer I believe on nu-vapor. His work looked well done from what I could see in the pictures. He might be able to make what you want.

A few days ago I ran into a lady that makes PV holder. She was interested in purchasing some drip tips. I am now trading/buying a large holder.
It will be about 12" x 16" and will be able to hold PV, TV remotes and of course beer:toast:
It will look similar to this

If you can imagine it will have the same base/bottom piece. It will also have the lighter inlay but it will also have a small light colored piece that will make a rail around the open space so stuff doesn't get knocked off. This will be for remotes. The 3rd piece will be dark but will have 3 PV holders and 4 beer holders. It will sit between the recliner and the couch on a TV tray.
Hopefully this will end the cats favorite game of human pick it up :D

Yes, it Box Elder Burl (black/green). It's made from the same block of wood as my tank LG tank.

Looks fantastic eh buglen. I love these woods, what craftsmanship.

Yes it does. Lewis is absolutely a master at his craft! :2cool:

I have more of that york gum on hold for you, I think there is enough to do a XL3 and a slightly short cone.
The other end of the blank also had some of the light color in it. I used that end for your tank :)

those are Red Sox AND USA colors, double bonus :)

awesome
Now it just needs a cone and to be sent to the engravers :toast:
I think the acrylic should also be more durable than the stabilized wood with CA.

As I am sure many of you know I have been looking for a VV 3.0 - 6.0 unit that I could turn. It actually keeps me up at night.
I might be able to put acrylic and possibly stabilized wood on a lave tube and others with a similar design.
The blank would be drilled and turned first. After that it would be attached to the tube of the unit. I am thinking a little silicon or something. I am not really sure what would be the best to use. Basically I want the acrylic to stay put when the person is using it, however I want to be able to remove the acrylic from the tube for refinishing if needed.
The only downside that I can see is that there will be a very small gap between the tube and the acrylic. I don't think it will have the seamless look like the current mods.

As always please let me know if you have any ideas that may help.
