I think so too Tumbleweed! Lewis - I got it today! I literally did not put it down all day long - if my work friends didn't already think I'm crazy, trust me they do now! I know at least 4 people caught me caressing this!! And I don't care!

Anyway, I have to find my good camera to get some pictures taken, but I just want to say this mod is BEYOND EXQUISITE! The craftsmanship is perfection - even Lewis' great pictures do not do it justice. It feels like butter in my hand - and by the way - it fits in my hand like it was precisely measured specifically to fit my hand. I am just entralled and mesmerized by the beauty of this piece. It looks like a priceless heirloom and that's how I feel about it. Thank you Thank you Thank you!! I am even thinking about possibly doing <gulp> a video review. We'll see if I can overcome my shyness...

If anyone has any doubts about getting one of these...do not hesitate - I guarantee you will end up with a phenomenal, lovingly handcrafted work of art.

If you're shy, you could always do the review without showing your face :)
we need some video reviews of the wood mods for sure, let everyone see how gorgeous they are in the hand.

Well Lewis you did it again! Everytime I think I've see your best and you top it with a prettier one. This has to be the best yet!!:toast:
I had a hard time saying good bye to this one for sure.
It is awesome that customers keep coming up with great ideas.

Glad to hear that you like and that it got there safely. Cracks me up about your coworkers :D
This will make video #3. In Lorddavon's videos the finish shows up a lot better than my pictures. I can't wait to see how the video comes out!

I want to say you guys are producing absolutely gorgeous work. That is some seriously quality stuff, and beautiful. I'm sorry I didn't stumble across this sooner.

So, I have something very specific in mind and I honestly don't even know if it's remotely possible, or even where to begin to ask.. I have no idea how the whole design process works for the parts involved.

Anyway...

Would it be possible to make something about the size of the XL3 mini, with the ability to remove the bottom to replace the battery, where the bottom piece can also function as a rechargeable passthrough for a retractable mini usb (kinda like this one)?

Would it be possible to have 808 threading that fits the 808 CE4s rather than the 510/ego threading and a wood cone with it? I imagine the cone thing is unlikely since the CE4 is curved, but I'd be more than happy with a cone that fits an 808 carto but sits flush with the battery.

Next improbability - would it be possible to do all that with an automatic switch (preferably a gold color) so that there is minimal silvery/chrome/gold visible between the wood battery casing and tank/cone?

Final impossibility - adding a VV option to it similar to the ego-c twist type dial, rather than button presses, on the top rim near the threading (or bottom if it's possible with a PT)?

And all in the Iron Wood (Dark) or Amboyna Burl?

..........I'll go back to wishing on a star.....

p.s. if all that nonsense is impossible, can you guys do a Volt x2 650mah?

Jazz, I don't think they build pvs just mod them. If I am mistaken Lewis or Eric chime in. But Lewis does do good work. He is currently working on a custom mod for me. If you go to Discount Vapers and look under the wood mods you can find the mods they customize. It's worth it and way cheaper than others who don't do as good work. If you aren't looking to build my apologies but they rock!

Jazz, Lewis mods existing units, generally it's what we have on site, XL3, indulgence, Go-go but Lewis is known to experiment and come up with new stuff, :) I am not certain and not promising anything, as I am sure Lewis will come on sometime soon but he might be able to do a skinny battery like the Volt you linked, but the volt is just an ego.. yes?

But making a mod from scratch, I think that's out. If you find something premade that meets all your wishes, he might be able to cover it with wood, just post a few pictures of what it is so he can see it clearly from all sides.

I only put wood around existing units. I don't currently do any metal work so making custom parts is not possible. I am also not very good with electronics except for basic soldering.

The volt looks like it may be possible and I would be happy to give it a shot. The downside to these disposable units is that the switch and end cap are pressed into to the tube. This makes the battery and switch difficult to change.
When the switch or battery dies you would have to purchase a new volt and install the new parts in the wood tube. If you are not capable of doing this then you would have to mail the parts to me so I could pull the switch and press it into the wood tube. By the time you purchase the new volt, pay for shipping x 2 and a little labor cost it starts to add up plus you will be with out your mod for 1-2 weeks.
Most of the units that I put wood on are modular so you can just purchase a new battery or switch and easily install the part yourself.

No it does not.
Some wood that is not stabilized will deform at the ends from the pressure of the center. This is also caused by the friction at the center when it slips slightly as the chisel touches the wood.
Stabilized wood and acrylic does not deform noticeably from the friction as it is a lot harder material.
When I start making lavatubes and such the tube may not be glued depending on how it all turns out. I still have to figure out a good way to attach the wood to the tube so it won't fall off but can still be removed. I think this method would be better as parts for the lavatube are not replaceable. I don't want people to loose the wood just because their lavatube died.
On my lavatube it will be acrylic that is glued with a fixed tank cone to protect the 510 housing, but I am going for strength on a construction site.

Darn lol.

@Eric
Yeah, I think it's just an ego pass through with 808 threading.

@Lewis
I'm trying to find what I'm looking for, or at least the modular parts but there's a sea of results lol That's why I'm trying to figure out how the whole design process works because it seems every supplier has it's own variations on the same thing, with some having custom specs.

I'm going to keep looking, tho, and when I find the ideal battery I'll be back!

But seriously, you guys are creating some real art, and if I don't find the ideal tube/battery/thing then I'll at least be getting an XL3 mini.

I will be trying to put wood on a lavatube before to long. If it works I should also be able to make the mini lavatube. I think it is a bit longer than the XL3 mini but has a nicer VV. Just something to keep in mind while you are searching.

That will be great if it works out!:)
