If post count really mattered that much we could make all social groups a non post count area of the forum and call it the tmcase rule:)

But since for the vast majority of situations post count means very little I don't see any reason to do this.

By the time folks get access and start playing games or hanging out in social threads they have already made enough posts to access the areas of the forum that require you to show you aren't a spammer or bot.

So if I understand correctly all these posts that I see being deleted because of "posting for post count" are to eliminate spammers. Ok, I see that. Post count means very little to me but it does seem to be important to a lot of other people. That's why they play games, post in chit chat threads and contribute nothing to the forum.

A rule named after me? Now that would be funny. :p

Aren't most of these games in "The Lounge?"

It specifically states "A place for chitchat - threads that have become "chat threads" may end up here even if they were originally e-cigarette related. Posts made in this forum will not increase your post count."

I don't know where they are but the one I post is not.

There are a bunch of word game threads throughout various parts of the forum, I post in a few of them occasionally, but like OS said they are generally in areas where there is no need to worry about post count. Pretty much anything over 70 posts is no more than an innocuous number under your avatar. The posts deleted for "spamming for post count" are usually ones from people trying to reach one of the breakpoints to be able to access various parts of the forum (like 5 posts to get out of New Members, 15 post for signature, 20 posts for classifieds access, etc).

This has been discussed before.

We were told then that because some of the word games are located in suppliers' subforums, where the posts count, nothing can be done about it. I know some members who have achieved triple and quadruple guru status mainly by playing word games.

ummm...I can come up with 3 words...

Enjoying the forum !

Yes, for most this is true but for some
1) they are trying to get the highest post count of any member on the forum (childish).
2) if you check their posts you'll see what I mean.
3) the forum database is so huge and these games are adding worthless nonsense making it bigger.
4) if post count didn't count in these games you would see a lot of people dropping out of them.
5) I'll let this rest now because I don't have much ... left to chew. :p

Thanks lady's. It's nice to have some support and nice to know I'm not the only one that feels this way. :)

I've felt this way for a long time, tmcase. You're not the only one, believe me. I see the hard work you're doing in Ask the Vets forum every single day and I appreciate it. There really is no comparison between your posts and the one-word, silly and totally not-e-cig related posts in word games.

Thanks for your contributions to this forum. I've been meaning to say that for a long time!!! :toast:

Thanks Katya, that's nice to hear. I like that sub-forum because nobody can bash me there.

Seriously though, I did the newbie thing for quite awhile and got burned out. If I can't answer a question in the Ask the Vets sub-forum I know you or Kent C will educate me. :) You 2 are smart. ;)
