I agree, it's awkward, and long. I was trying to encompass everyone, but it doesn't roll of the tongue well. I'll try to rethink/rewrite it.

I'm going up into the mountains tomorrow though so... I might not get back to this until Saturday evening. So, if anyone has any other revisions, or anything else to put in, post them and I'll work them in when I get the chance. Also, if someone wants to save me a few minutes and get me email address for House/Senate majority/minority leaders, I would not be opposed :)
U.S. Senate: Senators of the 114th Congress

More like a tongue twister. Watch out for the fires up there. We've got one trying to crank this way. Won't get here but that's not stopping it from trying.

Quick question without reading through the whole thread here. Has a change.org petition ever helped anyone? With anything?
I've signed a couple before, never anything I cared enough about to check back on though. Looking at the site, some lady got the NFL to drop their non-profit status.

Mostly it's just a way to raise awareness for an issue. If it DOES actually effect change, great, right?

Is this any better?
We, the members of the vaping community, including users of vapor products, current and ex smokers, concerned citizens, and friends and family of those whose lives have been or could be changed by vapor products, urge you to reject the proposed deeming regulations.

I have what may be a silly question. I want to help so bad and am very happy with all the hard work Lessifer and the crew have done with this, but how do I sign it once it is done or help to spread it? I will also take this opportunity to say TY to all that have the smarts to do thing like this for us all.

It will be on a website. You would put your information into the appropriate spaces then click enter. Signed!
Most allow a space to say why this is important to you. You can add your thoughts, or not, however you feel. :)

Easy and painless.

Great!! TY. So directing others to it is as simple as giving them the web address.

Yep, that easy. And we all have "address books", those on FB, Twit and such can disseminate the web address that way as well.

That's kinda a Hard Answer to Quantify. Either for Does it Work or for it Doesn't Work.

But I know one thing, you take a Petition out of the ECF and show it to the Average Vaper and the Vast Majority of these Vapers will be seeing what is coming down the line for the First Time.

So in that respect, it Works Very Well.

I was thinking about the physical signature thing while working today. (Maybe thinking too much about it because I missed a corner shelf in a very high-end shower tile job and had to back up a bit with the homeowners watching. o_O)
The pen and paper stuff could be used as a graphic if it's not feasible to include them in the on-line signatures:

Vape Shop X (or individual Y)
address/ contact info
etc
With reference to the attached petition, signatures are as follows:
John Doe
Jane Smith
......
Scan and e-mail to someone who has the time and means to assemble several hundred (or thousand) of these form images. Add it to the petition as a graphic link.
Just thinking out loud here. It's beer-thirty and the grill is calling.

In order for this to work, the links to the petition need to be spread far and wide; links on Facebook, links on Facebook groups, reviewer's videos on YouTube, anywhere there's a remote possibility of adding an additional signature.

Methinks maybe a link to a Web hosting of a printable petition may be in order as well.

Maybe not at this point considering the clear path to the Avenue chosen and the time constraints of the goal that chose that path.

But in the overall picture, methinks grass roots are going to have to spread and spawn legs to include reaching tech resistant types tucked away in their lairs.

On it's own? Probably not. As part of the whole using all forms or activism? Probably yes. Half the function is to raise awareness with elected politicans, the other half is to raise awareness among our peers, friends and family, co-workers, other interested parties that this is going on.

To be clear, petitions do not replace other forms of activism. They are in addition to writing letters, phone calls, and everything else. Letters to the editor are extremely effective.

I think one of the functions of change.org is that it links to your elected congress persons automatically based on zip code. Most elected officials will not accept petitions, emails, letters or basically any form of communication if you are not in their district.

Okay you old fogies, you're not hip to the new buzz words, I get it, I'll change it :p

As for paper petitions, I'm not opposed to the idea, but my sporadic availability really only lends itself to virtual involvement. If someone else wants to figure out how to get actual pen on paper signatures where they need to go, I'm all for it.
hehehehe, I wear my old fogie badge proudly :D I have earned every one of these wrinkles

And what hair I have left is grey :)

Good "framing", unless it's specifically meant to instill fear and trembling, should be positive in wording. Get people thinking it's a good thing. And while "disruptive tech" is defined as being a "game changer" (how I HATE that phrase!:(), many - and not just us oldsters - mentally stop at "disruptive" and start with negative thoughts. Catch more flies with honey, eh?
