I had been using an Inferno from Volcano, a 650mah passthrough and a 1000mah. Good clean hits and vapor production, no complaints.

All this VV and mod talk had me curious though. I finally ended up picking up a VV tube (aka lavatube) from myvaporstore.com. First off, got it lightning fast so props to them.

After a few days, i noticed something that really actually blew my mind.

I had just gotten some new juice in the day i received the VV Tube. I set it to 3.7-4.0 volts for my clearos, nice clean hit, nothing special. To really play with the variable voltage, i through on one of the atomizers that came with the vv tube. Played with voltages, and found 4.4-4.6 to be a sweet spot, ultra clean taste, big hit, no burnt taste.

So i dripped all weekend, and fell in love with one of the new juices i had ordered. Its a fairly heavy menthol with a vanilla undertone, works so well its amazing. Called Menila Joe from Mister-e-liquid.

So the part that blew me away.

Apparently i had been dripping, and vaping at 4.4 all weekend. This morning i through on a clearo for my drive to work, and put it at 3.7 volts.

Got to work, switched to my atty for dripping. Took a few hits, hrmm.. light hit, good vapor, but no throat hit, felt like the menthol disappeared. Finished it off and dripped again. Still same thing, thinking my throat was raw or something and i just wasnt feeling it. Then i rememebered i still had it at 3.7volts, turned it back up to 4.4 and BAM.

I really didnt think there would be that big of a difference. It is literally night and day, and this is coming from a skeptic.

Everything about this juice/hit just shines at a higher voltage, a bigger difference than i would have ever imagined.

I am really a little shocked at how different the hits are.

Is there something with higher voltages and menthol, or is it just simply the higher voltage brings everything to life?

Still amazed.

This is why once you have used a VVPV, it is hard to use a Single Voltage PV again.

It's like trying to listen to music with the same Volume Level. It works but it could be Much Better.

Its threads like these that make me goto Provair's website and fill in the order and just stare at "Confirm Order". I then talk myself out of it with the whole "I'm good with that i got already". VV is still on my wishlist for now but maybe an early x-mas gift is in order.

Im no fan boy either way, but i dont see the reason for a provari. The VV is nice, and i will never go back, its to big of a difference in flavor and hit, between this and the old ego style at 3.7. But unless im missing something, the provari is just a vv device, so its not going to have any real performance differences. They may fluctuate a little more one way or the other, but in the long run, its a vv, its doing its job, and I personally was surprised with how well this looks and functions as a device. So for ~$70 i got a vv tube, 2 atties, two batteries, charger, case, drip tip. Seems like a no brainer.

I have used both, and there is a difference. The first and most obvious difference is the fit and finish....no comparison in quality of product. That aside....the other major difference in my mind, is the ProVari can actually hold the actual voltage setting, no matter what the charge on the battery. My experience with the lavatube did not find that to be true...it drops off as battery goes down. Lavatube also cannot handle low resistance clearo/cartos as well, and are not really happy with DCC. If you are happy with the LT, that's great.....but don't try anyone's ProVari.

You don't have to spend a lot to vape with variable voltage. 3.5 amp electronics on the Provari and stainless steel are worth a little extra, not to mention the great fit and finish. I've checked out the accuracy of the voltage control and It nails the voltage you select under load. If I set it to 4v and then install my little digital voltmeter inline with the carto, I get 3.99v on the display. I agree that the Provari is precision. Does everyone need one? Probably not. I bought it as a present to myself.

I paid $70 for a Craftsman LED 170 lumen flashlight a couple of years ago and still got aluminum, but a good product. I suppose the SS version with a little more power could have easily been as much as the Provari. This year, that flashlight is $39.95. Go figure. Maybe prices will normalize on high end mods.

Thanks for sharing.

It always amazes me that people who rave on ECF about vaping with an ego at 3.4 volts or even a PV that is a fixed 3.7 volts make posts stating there is no difference and no need to vape beyond 3.7 volts but have never actually tried it like you did. Many of us discovered years ago that 4.5 - 5.0 volts was the "sweet spot" for vaping.

For throat hit and fullness and warmth of vapor, having a variable volt or even a good 5 volt PV makes a significant difference.

A provari and a cheap VV device like the one I use (see my picture), is like the difference between my cheap android on Cricket's crappy network, and a snazzy iphone on 4g. Sure, my android works good for what I use it for. But it doesn't have all the bells and whistles.

Im going to ignore this post. Android vs Iphone analogy, yeah... i see how you roll.

But like i said in my post, to a degree. Yes, im sure it looks better, although i see nothing wrong with the way my vv tube looks, and it fits my hand perfectly, perfect button placement, etc. The real thing this was about was how big of a difference vv or higher voltage changed my vaping, nothing else. Someone commented about buying a provari to try vv, when in reality, all your bells and whistles really have no point in that reguard. The volts may drop when the battery is low, it might not be all shiny and silver/gold, the point was, it gets the job done.

yet another good reason to look forward to my LT arriving tomorrow. im so excited to try the settings to find the sweet spot that i keep reading about.

Yeah, i think youll happier than expected, at least i was. When i first got it, i was like, ahhh hmmm this is cool, super long battery life and all, but meh, no biggie. Once i started playing with the voltage is when i was amazed. It really honestly is night and day.
