My only beef with the cotton is that I never know when I will have to replace the wick. I forget to squonk pretty often, and completely randomly. Sometimes wicks last me three days, sometimes I fry them after an hour. When I was a smoker, I was always paranoid about running out. When I got my first cigalike ecigs, it would run out on me in the middle of a 4 hour shopping session with the wife, and I would be all jittery.

In other words, I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of flavor in favor of reliability :)

Don't jump the gun now, cap'n (Supe). So, I was about to say that this here cotton, seeeeee, is pretty durn good, seeeeeee. Good enough, in fact, to make it into my RM2 on my REO for a trial run in the very same 28g coil that I had in there before I threw in that dual 32g jobber, seeeeeee. I'll vape this tonight and tomorrow, and just see how things go, seeeeeeeeeeeee?

(I'm calling this one "The Mark Twain" ;))

As far as the ekowool goes . . . . . . . . . . . . . nope. (←←←see that? . . . . . . . .s c i e n c e . . . . )

Totally agree. I am the type to look for the latest & greatest but that's exactly what I'm afraid of, being out & about & have an atty fail. I even keep a spare Cisco in the truck just in case. I haven't tried cottom balls yet but I have tried other types of cotton & singed them because I lost track of squonking. One slight singe & it's done for. For now I'll be sticking with Ekowool until something better comes along. I'm not the cheap type but Nextel is way overpriced right now imho to be changing wick so often.

Seriously, tho, to all who read this far. I was going to try the ekowool in some other setups; SLR, Genny, blah, blah. But, as it didn't even make it through the standard-resistance dripper phase, there is no way its going outshine the nextel in the situations that are more demanding and require better wicking. So, I feel no compunction about not following through, and no need to do so. As far as the topic of the thread goes; go and get you some nextel ceramic rope.

BTW: Commie, two things.

One. Thank you, so much, for sending me that ekowool. That was cool, and I had a lot of fun checking it out.

Two. Wassup with that Nextel?

Nextel is doing very good so far. What confuses me is that I can tell no difference between it and the XS variety. In looks, wicking, flavor... So far I'm testing whether or not it would outlast the XS.

I think Monday I'll send you some XS to try and compare. It's listed as 116, but looks about the same size as 132 that you sent me. And it's cheaper, I think

Just a quick update on the sterile cotton balls. They're itchy, but much lighter than the ones I came with. (badum-pop)

Been vaping away at this wick all last night, and my intensive Sunday a.m. coffee, crossword, vape (hours). Here's a quick photo. I've got the juice in the background as its a lot darker yellow than previous photos' juice.

I purposely took a nice long toot when I really should have reloaded first. It tasted mildly burnt. This is to test the notion that one dry hit will send you to the re-wicking facilities. Not so, for me. The subsequent flavor is fine; maybe 99% perfect, with no burnt taste. So I don't know what kind of a dry hit one would need to muster up to kill this stuff with one oopie moment. (Methinks the fears are exaggerated.)

I did a quick math thing with the cost of this stuff (show your work): <$5 for 130 balls @ 10 wicks/ball (if you're "devil-may-care") = 1,300 wicks.

So. In summary. This stuff is like Schrödinger's Cat; It is both the Bomb and the Shistle at the same time.

Pdib's wicking recipe: Dripping, bottomfeeding . . . . sterile cotton balls. Wicking intensive setups, or prolonged trips to the mall for Ukrainian vapers . . . . . Nextel ceramic rope.

I, for one, am going on a trip to Chicago in a few days . . . . . . that'd be Nextel. (Until I go, I'll be vaping on Supe's balls) :?:

Chocolate (white) salty balls fer ya.

I too have had a few dryish hits early in my cotton career. It was pretty harsh and a little voice went off in my head saying "something's a little awry here, squonk you lazy .......". It barely singed the wick. Once I heeded the voice, it was serve-pro style - like it never even happened.

I'm starting to wonder if Sergey's favorite flavor juice is called "cotton wick in need of saturation" so perhaps he doesn't notice it's dry and subsequently flames it out? :)

Or he's a typical tough, old school Russian and likes to taste a little burnt wick every now and then? :)

Using unflavored nic base, I can run these wicks for as long I want - weeks maybe? I just like to tear them out so I have something vape related to tinker with :)

Mind in the gutter, I swear.

Hmm, maybe I'm doing something wrong. I think it's because when I vape, I still take a few primer pulls and then vape. Those primer ones are what's burning the wick, since I can't tell that it's dry.

Not sure why I do that, force of habit, probably

Just squonk every two hits and you'll be good and lose the primer pulls :)

Commie, you maybe used to squonk with cartos, or what have you? I've only done RBAs; and, when I squeeze, I squeeze pretty hard and hold it for, like, 2-5 seconds. Are you squozing too timidly?

Yup. I started my squonking career with cartos on a VMod. I'm squonking quite a bit. With RM2 I generally squonk hard enough for it to slurp the extra juice down the bottle. It's just when I'm driving or otherwise preoccupied (inebriated), I forget to squonk every few hits :)

Now I get it! I hardly ever drink anymore so that's why I didn't put two and 2 together :)
I haven't thrown myself any kinda buzz since I've been vaping come to think of it. Perhaps it's time to.
I'm usually jacked up on espresso though :)
