Pdib, what size was the Ekowool you used?, anything below 2mm wont cope with chain vaping, I have found that the 2mm and even the 3mm can keep up with most everything I throw at it. When I get my Nextel in this week, I will do a side by side of the few inches of the different sizes I have right now against the 116 Nextel.

Well, Pdib,I got a few feet of 1/16 nextel, and made a wick for my aga-t. I didn't know if the nextel wanted a tight coil or a loose coil, but I wrapped it pretty tight. I don't know if this wick needs a break in time or what. The flavors pop up pretty clear, but the nextel has a real distinctive under taste or back taste, and it's pretty pronounced.I may not have given it enough time.IMHO porous ceramic has a much cleaner taste.

These sterlized cotton balls are interseting, I saw a birdhouse wick for a genny using cotton.....I think you may have played a part in that pdib,at least you were given kudos for it.Are these sterilized cotton balls all cotton,or blended with other stuff.

I just got both ekowool and Nextel... the ekowool came apart like crazy. I was able to get the Nextel working though. Might have just been because the Nextel was a bit bigger.

If you don't torch Ekowool, prior to using it, especially as a sleeve it will unravel like crazy. But like you said it could of been too small to begin with. I have figured out that to help with not unraveling alot, I try to make only one cut when making a new coil with it. For an example, I will make my coil with the big piece of Ekowool I have by torching a 2" section pretty good till it is good and stiff, then make my coil and mount on my atty. Once everything is good and set where I want it I will place the wick in the well or whatever I using to see where to cut it at and then torch the bejesus out of that area and cut with finger nail clippers, they tend to do better with helping precent frraying

I'll have to try that out.

Hey, JeremyE. It was 2mm. The stuff is fine. Its just, that was a comparison, and . . . . . . well, I'm curious about your opinion. Tell us what you discover/opine.

well shoot, looks like I ordered the XS not the XC from Kidney puncher. So I will have to find some XC now and I can do a 3x comparo

Humm, maybe I got the XS to then. I ordered mine from kidney puncher as well. I though it was XC Nextel, I'll have to double check when I get home. I picked up just about everything RBA wise from them last order... mesh, rope, ekowool, screws, ribbon wire,Nextel, grommets,ex.

I'm curious about rope, but I dont understand what is different from the rope that is here locally at home depot, lowes, etc etc

People have had a hard time @ local (hah) hardware stores discerning how ss the so-called ss is, or even finding rope listed as ss. Sounds like a real PITA @ Home Despot

A lot of the rope at hardware stores is galvanized, which is really really bad to vape with... like harmful to you. And a lot of the hardware store stuff has some kind of nylon core in the middle... so you have to unravel it, remove the core, then put it back together.

Most of the steel cable found at big box hardware stores are galvanized steel. Only some of the larger sizes are SS & some covered with nylon (I forget) but those sizes are way to big for PVs. If you are familiar with welding galvanized you know not to even mess with torching it, the fumes are toxic. Regardless the galvanized cable is just steel & not stainless.
