I have read that horse is eaten in France. Now I had ostrich and liked it, but it was in a burger form not steak. I don't think anything would get me to eat a pig brain souffle - must have been one big trick. Buffalo I found tough. The restaurant kept talking it up like it was a delicacy, it fell far short of our expectations, too. Was the turtle down in FL or over more towards LA? I don't think they allow you to eat turtle anymore, I could be mistaken. Lots of interesting foods you have tried. I love trying new things. Won't do chitlins though.

Is the bear gamey tasting?

I've been lucky (unfortunate?) enough to get to try quite a few exotic (some just friggin' weird) things ... I was so disappointed in the buffalo steak I tried (I think it had more to do with the restaurant though than the meat), so I'd love to try it again. Horse is not as bad as one would think -- tastes a lot like beef. And yeah, a lot of things --rabbit, turtle, snake, all really do taste like chicken -- just tougher.

The worst ever though was a pig brain souffle (that I was tricked into eating-- I'm allergic to pork!), and ostrich ... the pig brain souffle was beyond disgusting, and the ostrich left such a horrible aftertaste that I had to go home and brush my teeth 5 times just to try to get rid of the taste.

IMO the I06 tank mutes the flavor considerably. The device itself is outstanding :thumb: great vapor production!

BTW I haven't had a real cig for 2 hours now - AND I've been on the road all day.

All right Lox! Keep it up. One hour at a time if that what it takes. New toys should help.

Y'all are brave eating such things as brains, no matter what animal they belong to. I'm not having any, I don't care how hungry I am. I'm more of a chicken type person, if alligator and rattlesnake and frog legs all taste like chicken, then I'll just have chicken.

My s/o is more adventurous, and I have touched and prepared many gross and revolting foods, such as octopus/squid/shrimp with heads/fish with heads/various internal organs from chickens and cows, he's even cooked entire goats/pigs on holidays. The worst is beef tongue tacos and Menudo, made with honeycomb tripe (stomach) and tacos from pig intestines. Ew!!

Lets just say, no matter how thick your rubber gloves are, you can actually feel the tongue licking you while you hold it still and hack it up with a very sharp knife. Tripe is a very clean meat, that smells very bad while cooking. It's pure white. Pig intestines are the worst, absolutely the grossest thing I've ever smelled or looked at.

Yeah, I'll have chicken breast, thanks!

I don't like cornish game hen - I don't like duck (too greasy) - I don't like venison (and I don't care what it ate before it came to the table)

I'm not so adventurous when it comes to food - I was surprised when I had some Indian food (requested it be mild - not a real spicey person) and it was good.....on the other hand - Lox had the best burger of his life there.....and it didn't end well - for him. And, well, I sleep like the dead......ask Lox he'll tell ya.......he was one sick pup.

thanks but lets not get excited yet - I've quit for 8 months once before plus I haven't been annoyed yet today :|

The on the road thing is surprising though - I smoke so much while driving people must think my car runs on coal :p
Hey I quit for 7 1/2 years before and really didn't want them anymore, funny what losing a husband to cancer can do to a person.

I smoke while driving too, since we don't smoke in the house it was about the only place I could sit while smoking.

I had turtle many many years ago in IL and it was absolutely wonderful, tried bear from an open pit BBQ in San Luis Obispo CA and it was to die for. Even tried Escargot once and liked it too, but I will draw the line at brains of any kind, not happening!

Funny thing is I made it through the 9 months of chemo and for a couple of months after, but I guess straight tequila just tastes better with a smoke. Oh and I quit drinking 8 years ago, how I wish quitting smoking was even half as easy.
Needless to say I didn't handle becoming a widow at the age of 48 very well.

I had the rattlesnake in Sedona years ago, and cactus cut up and done like french fries. Bear? Where in the world did you get to try that? Was is good or yucky? What is a Ludafisk? Never heard of it.

Alaska. Very gamey, topped with rancid lard.
Ludafisk? It's rotten fish (any kind) salted and preserved in lye (like soap). Served drowning in real butter so they can avoid tasting it. Very traditional Norweigen.
Closest thing I can imagine as a description would be dog sheet.
Seriously. And they LOVE it.

We ate tonque and heart and sea urchins, jack rabbit, grouse, salmon (till I had gills), cause it was cheap or free. When company came we had hamburger.

Sounds like YOU might be the one to try hot dog flavor liquid.

Me too FQ - no weird stuff for me either. Nothing that can lick you back.... I like chicken and beef and pork and fish and shellfish..... no organ meats for me though......my aunt liked tripe~ewwwwww

Tripe I never found had much of a taste, it was more of a weird texture thing. That other stuff FQ is talking about, a lot of that is beyond where I go too.
