Well I'm not going with him to get the car parts after all so this is going to have to happen another day. I could have gone but we are having some pretty nasty thunderstorms today and honestly his driving scares me enough in good weather. lol

I think I'm going to give them a call though and make contact that way, looking at their website their prices are better than some I see maybe enough better to make up the difference of having to pay tax and shipping.

OK someone tell me about carto tanks, I just saw a smallish one that I fell in love with. lol

I only have one carto tank, and the carto is single punched so it doesn't wick well. I just ordered some dual punched cartos today, so hopefully my experience will get better.

My basic understanding - A carto (or cartomizer) is a cartridge containing a batting or wicking material that holds liquid. They typically have a single coil running from the top of the cartridge to the bottom, rather than just a coil in one spot. Some cartos are dual coil.

A carto-tank is a cartomizer coupled with a tank that has o-rings at the top and bottom to allow it to slide down around the carto and hold additional liquid. Coupled with a drip tip, this allows you to use a cartomizer and have additional liquid automatically refilling the carto. Extra liquid is kept in the tank, and wicks through a small hole or holes punched in the sides of the carto.

Cartos are supposed to last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. They're replaceable at a cheap rate.

I'm really enjoying mine (SmokeTech low-res carto in a SmokeTech pyrex jug). Better flavor and vapor quality than my clearos. But as I said, I'm having to drip to keep it wet enough to really enjoy, because the single hole isn't pulling enough liquid into the carto to keep it as wet as would be optimal.

I paid $16 for an Evod and $4 for a replacement head at my local shop. And the other things on my list still apply. That might skew my perspective.

Ouch! My local B&M sells eVods for $7.95, and 5 packs of replacement heads for $10.95. Still more than discounvapers, so I order mine from Eric :) Actually ordered a few new ones today, because my wife has somehow managed to break two eVods in the past 4 days. She's shredding the o-ring on the base by screwing it in lopsided after refills. Not knowing the base could be replaced, she threw them away :(

I ordered 3 new eVods and 3 replacement bases from dv.

Sorry you've had such a crappy experience at your local shop. I guess it's really hit or miss. My little B&M is spectacular, but some of the shops down in Austin itself are reputed to be terrible.

Sounds like you found a winner! Don't tell anybody, or it will become very popular very quickly and be crowded and out of stock on everything. Well known fact around here, just ask Dale!

Now, I have had the gasket just slap wear out on the evod base, but never shred from crooked tightening. Just wait, it will happen now that I've said that. I got a couple new bases from Eric too, very happy.

I never had any luck with cartomizers, whether in tanks or out. They muted my flavors, and I either flooded or burnt every one I ever used, and fried a couple eGo batteries with my "low resistance" non-knowledge. I like the Evod and T3 much better!

As far as functionality is concerned, the good quality clearos are still my go to devices. Ease of use, ease of transportation, and easy filling all make for a very good device.

I guess I'll get into RBAs eventually :) Maybe they'll change my mind. But for now, I only use the cartotank when I'm sitting at home and not on the go, because it takes a bit of fiddling to get right.

Sorry, but I think you're incredibly wrong on this, and many, many health care professionals agree with views similar to mine. I won't go any further into this, as I know it is a sensitive subject especially for those struggling with the system. I'm just going to post a video expressing some of the flaws in that argument, as detailed by Othropedic Surgeon Lee Hieb and her personal experience on these kinds of regulations, and how it has affected her practice.

not going near either side on here. :)

I agree with this...my cartotank is not nearly as easy as my Evods. I only use it on special occasions (when I know I have time/patience to mess with it), especially now that I have a protank, I don't need to worry about tank-crackers. Once it gets going it's great; it's that first refill after changing the carto that's a pain in the you-know-what.

Smart...I really don't like going there either...because I know politics can kill friendships. But I am relatively passionate about the subject.

Elsewhere on the internet I'm a political person myself. Gun control is my personal passion, but I tend to confine those discussions only to my gun control blog posts :) Healthcare is another big one for me, but I'm not as knowledgeable on the subject, so leave others to discuss it.

Fiddly carto/tanks? Except for making sure you don't pull the tunk up (dumping your juice) when retrieving your PV - how are they fiddly? I've found them to be great unless you grab the tank and pull....of course flanged cartos are a must....stops the trying to get everything just so in the tank...

Health care isn't one of my biggies...but it is part of a larger world view that I hold. I usually refer to people who do more more than me on the subject, because it can get really wonkish. Mine was always comparative religion. I definitely keep that to topic-specific forums!

I have yet to NOT flood a carto. I've tried every which way, and even though everything looks good, I get nothing but gurgles and mouth-juice for the 1st hour or two vaping after a refill. Constantly having to empty the tank, blow out the cart, wipe off the leakage, and start over--only to have the same thing happen. It's actually a little infuriating.

Juice getting into the center tube when refilling maybe?

Trying to keep my carto primed has been my fiddly issue. I've been sliding my tank up the carto to the level of juice to dump a bit in and prime it again after about 10 hits or so. Either that, or carrying a small bottle with me to drip. I'm hoping the dual-punched cartos I ordered today will solve this problem.

If they do, then my carto tank will likely be my new favorite :) I've only had problems with wicking, nothing else.

Oi. I thought I'd gotten myself all up to speed on this vaping thing, learning about various delivery devices, power devices, etc.

Now this DIY stuff is spinning my head again. Sooooo much information, and all that math! Jeebus.

Take what you want, leave the rest...... :)

I'm freaking terrible at advanced math. I can figure out how to cut nic with bases, etc, but when flavors start getting added to the mix I get lost. Lucky for me, my wife's a mathematical genius. She's already agreed to help me out. Now I just need to figure out what all to buy to start out with...

Yeah politics is not a good subject here (particularly gun control ;) ) neither is religion. Such discussions always turn ugly. Just my 2 cents (as pif group owner ;) I don't tolerate arguments regardless of which side I'm on) I keep the peace and make sure pif is a happy place.

Lest anyone think less of me, know that I own 3 firearms right now :) I don't advocate getting rid of guns. I guess gun control is a bit of a misnomer when it comes to my personal views.

You've built a great thread here! I've been analog free for 8 days, but still frequent this thread more than any other on the forum.
