When I was young and broke, I would make what I would fondly call Slop. Saute an onion, brown up some ground beef, drain real, real good, throw in some mushrooms if I had them, make mashed potatoes, heat up some peas or corn, make a gravy with one of those packets. Pile up the mashed pototoes on a plate, ladle over the ground beef/whatever stuff in gravy and put a pile of peas or corn on the plate. Quick, easy, cheap. Ate that stuff on and off for years. Tried it again a few months ago. Even with all the draining of the ground beef, it still looked and tasted super greasy and I threw the rest of it out. Guess some things don't stand up to the test of time. Not as good as I remembered.
