I've told you this before Thaya, you're a goddess and a queen. I don't know how in the hell you did it, the 1 was killing me until I got the 2nd, then all bets were off!

If I take them out for ice cream doesn't that teach them that rewards aplenty will fall into your lap if you have a bad day at school and cry about it?

Hell, I could go for some ice cream myself. Lessons later. dessert first.

Wish I could offer something here, on the other hand dessert is good

You have a point. I was looking it as more of a bribe to get them to listen to what you are telling them... And you all sound like ice cream was needed, you as much as them. And I was assuming they would sit down and listen better than around the dining room table.

You were absolutely right! We are all sugar high now, but talked things over and they both feel better. DD1 is angry because her ex is hooked up with someone and it's apparently been going on for longer than they have been broken up. I asked her why she cared, since they broke up. She told me she WANTS to not care but she still does and that pisses her off. I told her I can't fix any of that, but how was SCHOOL today? She likes 2 classes and hates 1 and is meh on the other.

And by the time I picked up DD2 from daycare all the tears were forgotten. The daycare teachers explained that tomorrow will be a better day since she knows all the rules after today. She bought it.

So, I think sleep will be beneficial for all. Hope that includes me!

Thanks for the good wishes and advice, friends!

OMG posting 2 times in one day without reading!

So, my child is Never Going Back To School Ever. NEVER AGAIN. She cried all the way to daycare, she had a horrible day, there are too many rules and she can't follow them all. Apparently she got "gently reminded" so many times the teachers put her in time-out 3 times. She has never been in a time-out in her life! There was lots of sobbing and hyperventilating and snot going on, which made me feel about this big.

I sat in the pick up line from 2:15 (dismissal at 2:25) until a little past 3:00 when they finally put her in the car. On the drive to daycare we both had a meltdown. Got back to work at 3:30, used 30 minutes leave. I can't ever do this again. Parents who don't lose their cool in this type of situation deserve a gold medal. I am not one of them!

She's in the afterschool program tomorrow. That is, if I can pry her out of the car tomorrow to leave her at school!!

Prayers needed and requested with a grieving heart. I hate hurting my children. . .
I can totally sympathize with what your going through FQ...Last year my youngest started kindergarten and the first day was great until.....she got off the school bus. She burst into tears and I endured 6 weeks or more of heartache with her everyday over getting on the bus and going to school. . On the third day I drove her to school & that was a HUGE mistake. She wrapped her entire body around my legs so that I couldn't leave and she cried hysterically until she gave herself hives, it was the hardest & worst day of my life (my eyes are tearing up as a write this). The separation anxiety (she went to mom mom's instead of daycare) and being overwhelmed in general was TERRIBLE. If you need to talk about it and want to know all the tips and tricks I used to finally get her past it send me a PM. She starts school next Monday & she will be in first grade but I have this awful feeling in the pit of my stomach that history could possibly repeat itself again this year...although I hope not. Now I'm stressing myself out just thinking about it. I don't know if emotionally I could handle that again for weeks upon weeks.

You've got them.

She might have a difficult week or so, but it will get easier (for both of you).

And here I was just going to reply that going out for ice cream was a wonderful idea because we all have crappy days where we just need a moment of spoiling and understanding ... but it seems like you figured that out now.
Believe it or not, you're going to be missing these "difficult" days when they are grown.

No I just got a cortizone shot. Because I have so many neck issues no one is sure what pain is from where. I cant have surgery, if needed until Bill is better. BTW He is home. :)

I'm happy to hear that he's home now. Both of you just take it easy and enjoy each other's company.

I am so glad that Bill is home with you! I have experience with that arm neck thing, I had surgery on my arm, later they decided it was coming from my neck. I opted out of the neck surgery, I have already had back surgery, that was enough for me to say no more. Everyone is different, so still look into it and see what is good for you.

My daughter and I both went with my eldest granddaughter to her first day of kindergarten and I'll swear she was giving us both looks like would you go so I can have some fun as she skipped off to the door. She was living with me at the time while her mom got her life back together, but her mom was doing so well I included her in all that stuff. You should have seen us the day her teacher called us in to say she thought she might do better if we held her out a year since she wasn't going to be 5 until the end of October. We asked her teacher what she was having trouble with and she told us that she was having trouble using scissors and catching a ball. When we both stopped laughing and got up off the floor we told her in perfect unison that we thought she would do just fine and would learn to do those things in no time.
She did do fine and was an A student all through school, graduated early and went to the Los Angeles Fashion Institute at the age of 17. Obviously her lack of scissors skills at age 4 ruined her entire life. She is a fashion designer now.

I still can't use scissors or catch a ball. I did graduate from college and have a good career in marketing. In kindergarten they told my mother I didn't talk enough. I was so shy it was painful. Somewhere along the line this worm became a butterfly

Glad to hear Bill is home. Maybe you can rest a bit now.

Hope the cortizone shot helps, you sometimes can't tell till next day. Necks are bad, they affect a lot. Is it your left shoulder? If you have neck problems it usually affects your left side. Hope they can figure it out. Hang in there.
