I tried keeping cigs around for my safety net, but then I just found excuses to smoke them all. Instead of having 5 per day like I was planning, I would have 20. For me, one is too many, and one more is never enough. The only way I could not smoke was to not have any in the house. After 4 days at home with none, I stayed away from smokers at work so I wouldn't be offered one, because I would have said yes in a skinny minute.

I still get offered, and I still get twinges that tell me "just do it" but so far I've been able to resist. I borrow strength from all of you, because God knows I don't have any of my own!

OMG. Sunny in Portland - on a weekend?!!! I'm surprised anyone worked yesterday. LOL! That's an automatic excuse for a mental health day. I think the last time I lived in Seattle, I could count the nice days on the weekend with one hand (weekdays didn't count because of working).
 I'm glad you were able to enjoy it.

 The nice thing about Portland is that it doesn't rain nearly as much as in Seattle.

It's been a great summer here...normally nice weather happens from August-October. This year it started in May and hasn't really quit. We had a real ugly week last week (downpours, thunderstorms, temps in the 60's) but it warmed up by Thursday, felt a bit like the Bahamas in March, and it's been in the 90's all weekend. The poor painters were spent! We had to run out so we picked up some gatorade for them.

It's weird..the first time I quit, I had 1/2 a pack laying on my kitchen counter for a few weeks, and I had no desire to smoke them. BF smoked them then bought me a new pack to replace them. I didn't have any then for another 3 weeks.

Second time I quit, I only had smoked a few a day for the duration of 1-1/2 packs (again, BF bummed 1/2 pack). By the time I was done I really disliked smoking so it was easy. And I never really felt more than a passing twinge of wanting one.

Who knows what it'll be this time around. But the cigs are getting to be much less interesting or helpful so hopefully soon I'll be ready to just ditch 'em. :D

I think that anxiety near the end of a pack will always be there and you will always feel the dread, I wouldn't use that as a signal to quit.
For me I've kept the last one in the pack and carry it with me always, just knowing if I really feel I need it it is there, takes care of that anxiety. I've done that for the last 16+ days and haven't touched it yet other than to trade it out for a fresher one. SO is still smoking so that is easy to do. I know my banner says 15+ days but it never changed over yesterday for some reason, bad banner. lol

I also had to keep cigs around in order not to panic about possibly needing one desperately. I kept my tobacco, tubes and my rolling machine an arm's length away for a month. I finally gave my son the tobacco and tubes, but I still have the roller. I still have 3/4 of a pack of smokes at work. I haven't touched them and I no longer even think about them being there. I imagine they're quite stale after 2 months. Different strokes for different folks.

I've actually found that single mix flavors suck. Like just plain butterscotch or fruits. But mix in small amounts of stuff like sweet cream, cotton candy and vanilla cupcake will actually bring the flavors out more and add body. Like I do a peach for 30mls I'll mix 3mls peach 1ml juicy peach 1ml cotton candy 1ml sweet cream and 1ml watermelon. It's still predominately peach but has more body.

I know single flavors aren't for me, hands down. I also think I have a tendency to be demanding, picky, perfectionistic, esp with flavors I like such as coffee. That's probably not helping and a reason why I'm enjoying flavors I wouldn't be attracted to in foods - I'm not as demanding with those.

My low blow is discovering problems with pg. I keep testing and I keep learning it's a no-no. That leaves a lot of interesting juices out - and a lot of flavor concentrates out. I was looking at the pg free flavor concentrates in DIY and over half are not available anymore. Nature Flavors are dull and weak. That leaves vaping Zone's, which aren't cheap. The end.

I'm spending half my vaping budget a month in DIY supplies. So I figure by November I'll be ready for the mixing adventures to begin.

Meanwhile, I've discovered THOUSANDS of US companies claiming to produce flavor concentrates. So why are only a handful of flavor manufacturers made available to work with?

There's a lot of tobacco VG premade juices since many of those can be made in house (nets, etc) but everything else from a handful of vendors seem to rely on single flavor mixes (yawn) which are pricey or weak - bleh. There's a few exceptions, just very expensive, > $1/ml. Cost is a motivation to stop smoking for me.

Next on my flavor adventures will be HHV. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you Lox for that clarification. A person hears so many different things and then wonders if they are going out of their minds. I have always found sweaty socks to be a fairly consistent smell and does not seem to improve with age. And a cheap wine tends to remain a cheap wine. And so on.

As for steeping - I think what I said was other than tobaccos steeping doesn't make much difference. So to elaborate if I don't like a juice right away I won't like it after steeping. If it tastes like sweat socks steeping it only makes it taste like old sweat socks.
Too many vendors mix crap juice and will tell you "oh it needs to steep" then a month later when it still reeks will say "oh it's too late now it's been a month". I know from DIY that although the flavor may get a bit stronger or more pronounced after a bit - if it sucks after you mix it it sucks after steeping.
I think a lot of people's taste buds come back to life so that bottle they tried in their first few days off cigarettes tastes different a few weeks later not because the juice fairies magically transformed it but because their taste buds came back. Just my :2c:

Oh and alcohol will evaporate with the lid off.

I find telling people I am an Aries seems to reveal a lot more about me than telling them my bra size or my GPA. Too bad it does not reflect my bank account or in a PhD. Ah, the joys of not living up to your potential. But I can sure dig my heels in and beat my head against a brick wall. And don't let anybody tell me I am opinionated. I am always right when I am not wrong. Don't you forget it.

Uh Oh make that 3 of us. 5/30/1948, see I'm not afraid to tell the year. And Shari you being Aries explains a LOT, hehehehehe. I have just a teeny bit of experience with Aries, like My late hubby and my daughter and Cliff's dad. Oh my Aries the ram.... lower their heads and CHARGEEEEEEEEEEE.

Good morning everyone. It looks as if there was quite the party here after I went to sleep. :)
Has anyone else noticed that some of our banners did NOT advance like they should have, I know mine didn't, it should say 16 days not 15 and Shari I'd swear yours said 1 month 19 days all day yesterday too. Going to have to check this out.

I've forgotten what else I was going to comment on, lol, that's what happens when you get old. LOL

I was welcomed wholeheartedly into this fold with open arms. It did not matter who I was or what I knew or did not know. This is a safe place and to be cherished and protected and nurtured. This is a cold, hard world out there, in real life and on ECF. You never know what you will find. Hopefully people can trust in who and what they will find here.

This is what I love about this thread and pif. You have no idea who B is yet you give her a warm welcome and offer her words of kindness, advice and support :thumb: what a wonderful group we have assembled here :)

For those of you who haven't had the privilege of meeting her before she's a former pif mod (real life got in the way and she had to give it up - family comes first and she's raising an adorable little girl) and was the first true friend and mentor I met on ECF. She is the kindest most sincere person I've ever met. With her non-judgmental advice and understanding - She has (and still does) helped more people get into vaping than you could ever imagine. She struggled too just like all of us and I'm very happy to say that although it was a hard fight she's been smoke free for over 2 years :toast: She's everything good in the world all rolled into one :) she's always been there for me like a sister  and even though she couldn't actually make my wedding due to unfortunate health issues - I still consider her as my "best man"
So thank you for welcoming not just her but all the others who've come here seeking help :)
You guys rock :thumb:

The funniest part of this is my late hubby and my daughter's birthdays were 6 days apart and he was not her father, they met when she was 7 and couldn't have been more like him had she been cloned from his dna.

I'm not sure it would reveal that much to someone who had not spent most of their lives with other Aries, and in very close contact.

Crimeny I've spent most of the last hour or so with a wonky internet connection, I think it's working ok now.

Since we have been doing a lot of talking about DIY on this thread lately, I just happened across a very interesting contest being held by Nude Nicotine. Since a number of us have never dabbled in DIY, I thought it may be educational to post this link. The contest involves people posting pics of there "lab" conditions for their DIY endeavors. Since handling nicotine is a hazardous and potentially dangerous activity, I am hoping we can learn something from this. Safety first.

Lox, if this is inappropriate or in some way wrong (too many mad scientist and unsafe practices displayed) please feel free to delete this post.

OMG  now I have to run out and get one of those! Hi, Pri, hope you're doing well!

Shari, thanks for posting that contest link. I didn't enter the contest, don't have any pics of the mad scientist lab, but I did ask a question about those crayon shaped containers my nic came shipped in.

Hope you're all having a great day!

FQ, I have been vaping your Wowza Coffee on and off all day today. You do not give yourself enough credit. It tastes like coffee and does not taste burnt, like so many of the vendor coffees do. I do agree that it would be nice to have some more "punch" especially if you want to make it into a Starbucks type of coffee vape, but as it stands, it is a good coffee and something to be proud of. Now, how to get that "punch" bit in there? I am sure you are caffineed out working on that.

I am enjoying it.

I decided to try yet another coffee vape, I decided to try vapedudes this time, every other juice I've gotten from them I've liked so I figured why not, haha!
