Inspired by Alicia's find of a gem in the rough in her Mexican hole in the wall, DH and I ventured out to run some errands and grab a bite to eat.

Welp, DH and I made another attempt to support a small, local restaurant. This one is a Greek Pizzeria, I know, makes no sense, but there are several on the CT shoreline area, and so we thought we would check it out. Usually they are also part diner food and have several Greek dishes as their backbone. No moussakka here, which is the yardstick I use to measure a Greek restaurant (and which generally means Momma is nearby and either doing or directing the cooking). The Gyro and Spanokopita appeared to have come from Costco, frozen. We did not follow our instincts and leave, but ordered. I ordered an eggplant parmesan and DH had a cold cut sub and fries. His real food search is different than mine. Shoulda known better. We won't bother with the sub. The eggplant parm was not Greek, Italian, Mexican or Southern but a little bit of each of the aforementioned, and none done well. A not surprising disappointment. A very spicy one with undercooked thickly cut eggplant and too little of a very spicy sauce.

So that makes it several hundred tries in the last 10 years. I don't know why I bother. I should weigh under 100 pounds and be wasting away to nothing. So I have Frankies Pizza (thank God) and the sushi the Japanese man makes for me at his Kiosk at Kroger. He gave DH (Mr. John) his cell phone # for him to call him and let him know what sushi I want. Then he makes it fresh for me and walks all over the store tracking DH down to put it in his hands. A sweet man. Still only one good local restaurant after 10 years. Within a 20 mile radius of my home. Pathetic.

Shari you are too kind! It's weak as dishwater. Wait, I haven't tried it in a couple weeks, maybe it turned into something great due to time and inattention {AKA steeping}. I'm going to drip some tonight. Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate the feedback. And I have a super secret ingredient ordered that might give it just what it's lacking, espresso flavoring. Have to be very careful with that one, this ought to be fun!

Priorities treats are virtual, which means virtual calories, which means no extra virtual fat on my virtual gut. Right? Right! Girl, you don't even need to bring us treats, just come play once in a while. We do tend to get wordy, and stay up really really late, and laugh too much, and turn a little crazy due to caffeine withdrawals, but other than that we're a friendly group. The more the merrier!

Vanilla coffee, vanilla tobacco & vanilla cola

Anybody see a pattern here?!? Haha! I love vapedudes vanilla 'nilla I usually add that to almost all my other juices so I figured I'd try some premixed with the vanilla.

I just received an order from Vape Dudes the other day. I reordered Blue Honey and Black Honey, they're both good. I also decided to try Strawberry Honey, Butterscotch Pudding and Caramel Apple. I like the Strawberry Honey, the Caramel Apple is okay and the Butterscotch Pudding is meh, not too much flavor yet. Maybe I'm just not as crazy about butterscotch as I thought I'd be.

Oh wow, that sounds terrible, Shari! My mom makes a mean Bulgarian Moussaka (not as oily, uses ground beef instead of eggplant), and I had "real" moussaka in Greece (nothing can touch it!) so I know what you mean.

We used to have a place called the Souvlaki Stop in Portland, and they did real seasoned lamb on a skewer, with fresh tzaziki sauce, and the flat bread was to die for. Since they closed, I have not found a decent gyro/souvlaki either. Usually they use pre-processed beef (not lamb) strips and premade sauce.

It's a shame when you like authentic foreign food and can't find any anywhere. So sorry!

We have a Greek pizzeria too! The subs are great, they do a fantastic marinated chicken breast, and other than that, I can't figure out what's Greek about it. I love to go there. . .but pizza and hot wings and a salad bar just doesn't scream out Greek to me. S/O and I have been to every Mexican restaurant within 100 miles of our home, sadly his sister is still the best cook I know, and she has many years to practice before she catches up with their mom. I don't know how to cook, there is no yardstick for me to measure by. I'm not very picky and as long as it tastes halfway decent I'll eat it. I live near the capital of the state, I'm sure there are wonderful restaurants around here, I just don't seek them out. We like diners and dives. . .

OK Everybody needs a good laugh tonight! Well - HERE IT COMES !!!

So I am home now after that unfortuate foray into the the wide world of local restaurants. I decided I was going to pull out the coffee liquid FQ sent me ages ago and try that next to her Wowza's coffee. Just to compare. After hunting around I located it. Shook it up good and proceeded to drip it - RIGHT INTO THE MOUTHPIECE OF MY EVOD !! I take a hit and wonder what is wrong. I look at the thing. How dumb can you be! Forgot I put the Evod on to take it with me while we were out. Duh. I am now cleaning up the Evod and putting on the atty. I think that bad food has really traumatized me.

I really didn't intend on getting into DIY it just happened. I bought so much juice I didn't like (I cleaned out my stash a little over a year ago and sent a 7lb  box of juice I didn't like to a pif member who distributed it to needy pif'ers) and had so much inconsistency from vendors juices I just got sick of gambling. It's actually easier than you think and I enjoy mixing - just wish I had more time. The easiest way is just buy a 30ml bottle of 36mg pg and a 30ml bottle of plain vg - mix them and you have 60mls of an 18mg base. If you mix your flavorings in at 20% you'll end up with 72mls of roughly 15-16mg juice at 60/40. I figure as long as I'm close to 15-18mg I don't need to be dead on with the math. You could also do 30mls 36 and 60mls plain and get a 12mg base that would put you around 8mg or so.
I only use a juice calculator and measure exactly if I'm mixing for someone else - I myself don't care if its 16 or 18 exactly I'm more interested in liking the flavor.

what if I need 24mg -30 mg best way to go?

Okay, now everything is back under control after that brain fart.

I have been dripping the Elite Vapors French Roast Coffee, in between giggles at myself and swearing at my Evod. FQ here's the difference.

The Elite Vapors has more body but a LOT of sweet on the inhale, I think too much (but I drink black coffee). The taste of the coffee tastes like a very dark French Roast. Very dark beans and pushed to the edge of burnt, which is what I get on the exhale. This would be a good base for the Starbucks type coffee drinks. The caramels, vanillas and creams would take the edge off the bite.

Your Wowza coffee has a better, cleaner coffee flavor, without the body and without the heavy sugar taste. The exhale is clean and not burnt at all. But again, I don't think it is strong enough to stand up to adding the caramels, vanillas and creams the same way the Elite Vapors will. Not yet. I like the promise of your extraction.

What coffee beans are you using? How are you doing the extraction? Adding the espresso flavor might work, or it may kill the delicate flavor you have achieved and totally step on it. You have a better coffee FLAVOR, just not the oomph yet.

I want to hear what you are doing. I have a couple of ideas. I am not an expert, but I like my coffees. Your coffee also does not have that bitterness found in many.

I want to be Shari when I grow up. I'll just never get the hang of dripping. . .

On the other hand, that was kind of humorous, I promise I'm not laughing at you!

Wow, I can't believe you really got all those impressions out of that Wowza Coffee. That tears it, my tastebuds are not 1/10th as refined as yours.

For this extraction I used store-bought already-ground Dunkin Donuts Pumpkin Spice Coffee. Extracted in vg/distilled water at a ratio of 80/20. It smells heavenly, but it doesn't translate over into a strong flavor. Lox and I kicked around a couple ideas on how to extract using water alone, but I never got around to trying it yet. It's on the back burner waiting on inspiration.

The recipe for the Wowza is 15% coffee extract, 5% sweet cream, and a drop of sweetener. I tried it all the way up to 100% extract, no extra vg or pg, and it still tastes the same. Good, but weak.

Oh, and I noticed the Elite Vapors French Roast burns the heck out of my coils within one tankful. I don't know if it's due to the color or the sugars, but it starts to taste real nasty real fast when using it in a clearo. Best to drip in small doses, methinks.

Oh, but please do laugh. Go and laugh loud and long and hard. I am laughing at me. I am so used to dripping that it never occurred to me that my 510 atty was not on my spinner. I am staring at the Evod wondering what is wrong. And it takes TIME for me to figure out it is an Evod and not my 510 atty. I am watching the liquid dribble down the clear mouthpiece and it does not sink in. I actualllly tried to take a hit off the thing and had to look at it AGAIN to see what was wrong.

I thought it was hilarious. I am looking at the Evod and trying to figure out why my atty is not working.

Can you say User Error. Think I should go start a Thread and see if someone can help me??? Wonder how many responses I get before someone figures it out or tells me to buy a Provari. Maybe I need a Reo, I can squonk and get juice on the ceiling. I am an enthusiastic vaper, I will have you know.
