Apple doesn't have industries thousands of times richer and more politically connected than itself trying to drive it into extinction. When it was small and new its competition was also small and new.

My first job was pressing panels for stoves. I guess I got lucky as far as fingers go. And I was living in Birmingham at the time working just a few miles from where Tony Iommi worked.

Schumer said he wants the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to figure out why so many devices, many from China, are exploding. He said the recent injuries are proof federal action is needed.

And how exactly would "federal action" be enforced?

As I understand it, if a Consumer Product is not under another agencies direct control, then something like a Recall would fall to CPSC.

Yeah, fun has its risks. But being sensible has a downside too. Me and my friends rode motorcycles and we did things that make me cringe to think about now. You never really know how far a bike will lean over in a curve until you lean too far a few times. Overall I'm glad I wasn't too sensible.

Once I jumped off the tailgate of my truck onto an upturned milk crate. My foot went straight through and the broken pieces of the crate bottom bent down and trapped my ankle so I couldn't pull it back out. The guys around were laughing too hard to be any help. Mind you that was only a couple of years ago so not sure what the point of the story is except that now I know plastic milk crates aren't as strong as they look. They should put warning labels on those things.

Just about Everyone answers to the Court System. And, Unfortunately, just about Everything ends up there in the End.

A "Recall" isn't very Viable. Because Recalls are Model Specific. And are not Applied to Markets.

What is kinda Discouraging about all this is when someone like Schummer inflames the Media, is He (on a Population Level) Helping or Hurting Public Health?

And Apple never changed its position.


Precedent setting legislation reaches much farther than just the e cig industry. The big players havent stepped up yet.

Could Be. It seems more like Protectionism of Tobacco Tax Revenues to me.

If he Wanted the opportunity to Grandstand for Personal Gain, he could have Railed against Chantix Warning Label requirements being Relaxed by the FDA.

Because there are Orders of Magnitude more people who have Died using Chantix. Verses people getting hurt using an "e-Cigarette".

Asking the CPSC to step up is essentially, by proxy, asking the courts to do something.

Just by the numbers, something will end up in court.

none of my four brands of batteries have a warning on the wrapper. when i surf on batteries, i see many manufacturers or rewrappers now include a warning on the wrapper. can you buy a drill or saw without a warning? these liability issues will sort themselves since everyone knows the courts go with the lowest common denominator. none of this will eliminate drilled hands,sawed off fingers,or battery explosions. i like to compare the fatality rate of ecigs and swimming pools.

Reminds me of the warnings they put on ladders these days saying essentially Do Not Climb Under Risk of Death. Yeah, I'll just stare at the ladder and hope that light bulb way up just miraculously turns back on.

And as to swimming pools, better not only put up that fence with child resistant gate releases (which I totally support) but also pay a lot more for extra liability insurance with your homeowner's policy.

Question for those in the know, could the coins and metal body of the rx200 complete a circuit and cause a battery inside the mod to vent through the ground before the loose batteries themselves vent?
