A couple of days ago I wrapped a .6 ohm coil drilled the air hole to 1/8 and mounted it on the original REOMIZER. I put it on a Mini 2.1 with a 50/50 juice. The amount of vapor rivals any that I've seen in the videos of these exotic sub ohm coils. BTW the original REOMIZER is still in my opinion a great vaping atomizer. I wrapped Teflon tape around the base atomizer threads, slid a small piece of carto condom around the atty into the drip well and get no leakage at all. Still a great backup for the RM2.

I still use my Reomizer (v1), too. I always liked it.....

Who me? *blushes bashfully* :)

Extra springs? hmm... should I anticipate them shrinking on me?

Your suggestion reminds me of THIS THREAD I just came across by tomzgreat... any thoughts from some of you seasoned REOnauts on his voltage drop findings?

Holy cow, .5 ohms at 3.7 is over 27 watts! that's gotta be hot - .9 at 3.7 is about half that.

Lol I just read your edit..

Glad to know you've had better experience with your REO. I would like to see his coil.

*edit - and after reading Rob's cleaning post I wonder if the contacts in tomz' REO are clean?

Having gathered a bit more information on this, I wonder the same. Contacts in need of cleaning are characterized by anemic performance. I've experienced it myself, and now that you mention it, that's exactly what the video looked like. Also, tho, could be a mashed/bent firing pin, or a partially retracted pos. foot on his gizmo. I'm of the understanding that that particular REO had taken two trips in the mail, both times shorted out with melted button.

In any case, having gathered some more information, and compared his anecdotal input with that of myself and others; I think that this is a real good example of the fact that you can hand a metering device to a monkey, but that doth not "science" make.

Makes me curious, anyone tried getting an accurate reading of a Reo in optimal condition - load/no load? I'd be surprised if it went down that much under his conditions.

I gave it a quick shot direct with my multimeter but I think I need to rig something up to get a stable reading - meter was bouncing everywhere and I couldn't get a reliable reading.

Hummm... "Honey, remember I told you about those great Fluke multimeters that are really expensive? I think I need to get one to run a test for the folks on the Reo forum and its the most accurate/reliable one out there...."

naw.. that wont work. She's smarter than I am! Shucks.

Congrats! I think the black wrinkle/silvervein is an excellent choice! IMAG0221.jpg

And in the video he's getting almost no vapor.. this math is fuzzy

Its all proportional, wire gauge, air hole size etc. It really is can be a nice, flavorful vape, and not hotter, just more... if you know how to get a sufficient amount of juice to the hot parts (.5 that is)

I fixed it for ya..

Watched the vid, he seems quite pleased with his squonker ;P

I like that little adapter he has. I may have to make one!

I'm so excited, lol. At first I didn't like the silver vein (Rob, if you are reading this, no offense but some of your pics don't do justice to your hard work). I googled lots of pics of all kinds of finishes while I was trying to decide. I actually think the silver vein is pretty wicked looking, kind of reminds me of an old pewter gate or something.

I was doing a little daydreaming today about the nickel ones (I know I know there were only like 6 made and they are all worth more than my house now) and I got to wondering how much it would cost to have a REO milled out of various types of metal. How cool would it be to have a solid gold REO??? Talk about conductivity! Forget voltage drops that thing would have a voltage gain! lol

Thanks for fixing me, Stats. Nice to have you around! I was just thinking today, I might make my own door for my 2nd REO. Hardwood, I have some maple burl that I grabbed from a local forest years ago. (Oh, REO II is black wrinkle). Or some nice brass mesh . . . . . My first thought was to sand down the door, scratch/etch some Art into it, treat it with "brass ager" and then buff it shiny (with the etched parts staying darkened). . . . Maybe a rendition of a complete doofus who looks like "Newman" from Seinfeld doing some "metering".

You're f-ing cracking me up, Man! LOL

lol, you started it! I was laughing out loud when I read your PM :p

Seriously bro.. that second pic needs to be printed onto a vinyl sticker and applied to the door on your new acquisition.. Seriously.

I think it's beast that you were able to get that actual REO.

haha, couldn't agree more ;) Leave it to pdib to rescue that mod. I have high hopes it will have a long and fulfilling life up in WA.

*edit - yeah you won't make it through the video. Might want to wait a while before watching it though.. you'll probably have a hard time resisting the urge to post in the thread (there are no replies in it yet, lol) and I think it would be HILARIOUS if the first reply is pdib rocking out a .5ohm coil on the very same mod tomz made the video with... just sayin :p
