Really? It's mostly water vapor.

How the hell do you reply to this?

It was my first negative experience, and it was a coworker. We were at dinner a few nights ago, the whole office, and I pulled out my PV and everyone was pretty excited (except her), so as I was explaining things, I took a puff and got "You can't do that around me, I have asthma." I told her it's primarily water vapor, so it's essentially steam. She started hacking and gagging. I know it was a show, like the guy in Anne Frank (the one who was "allergic" to cats) but it kinda ...... me off.

Just needed to vent a sec.

My sister has asthma as well, and although she first thought I was being silly for vaping, when I explained that I hadn't had any cigarettes for months, she changed her tune.

I'd be careful with the "water vapor" line though, it's vaporized pg and other things, but generally very little water except what it robs from the air.

I'd tell her to grow up, but I wouldn't vape around her anyway to avoid the stigma. Honestly, as long as you make sure that she knows that you know she's faking it...

You could also cite that fact that pg is also found in asthma inhalers, as it's a safe stabilizer for both food and medications. In fact, your e-cig is not that different from nebulizers :p

yup tell her minus the nicotine that it's the same stuff that's in inhalers. I have asthma and I vape, I actually haven't had to use my asthma but once since I started vaping, where as I was using it a few times a day.

There we are- an asthmatic who not only says that it doesn't irritate more- it's actually improved his situation.
Clearly, the lack of smoking must play some part as well, but that's great.

Similar story of a fake cough: I was visiting an old buddy and got my pv out to show off (he already knew I had quit smoking so he was interested)... took one demonstration puff from across the room on the couch, and his wife INSTANTLY started fake coughing from the table 6-8 feet away! Even if I had inhaled and blew out a huge hit of an analog in her direction there is no way the smoke or smell would have reached that side of the room that quickly. Me being my smart-... self, I cracked something sarcastic like "Wow, it's amazing this could make you instantaneously cough from way over here. Guess I'd better put this bad boy away!" At which point I did... after mentally logging her total lameness and drama. <sigh>

Another asthmatic to chime in here who's pretty much been able to dump the inhaler after switching over to vaping.... some folks just want to use their "condition" to control everyone around them. Sadly, it's usually the folks who's "condition" is something that's more in their heads than in their bodies.

I've had perfumes and colognes set off my asthma, and I was absolutely miserable at times when I was still smoking... but I've never had a PV send me into an attack ... also, I did double check way back in November when I started vaping and yup...PG in my inhaler - all of them regardless of prescription.

I love it that I can leave the house for a quick run to the grocery store and not have a panic attack because I left my inhaler on the bedside table.

I so agree! after just 16 days I use my inhaler so much less than I use to, and I love not having to puff on it before I even get out of bed in the morning! Which I have had to for years.

Oh, I'm not saying that vaping is curing my asthma, quiting smoking has improved it greatly. That and my doctor is thinking that I'm allergic to tobacco, I've had almost a complete turn around in two weeks. Hell I've already gotten my taste and smell back(did you know a ruberband smells? I didn't, or had forgotten that they did:lol:).

Damn asthmatics! JK

I've got asthma. I have yet to start vaping as my kit hasn't arrived yet, but from what I hear ecigs won't irritate it, unless it's a flavor/smell problem. I'm excited. Can't wait to start vaping. I'll be vaping in the house with my parents. Mom has bad asthma and even when I'd smoke in the garage and come into the house she would sometimes have an attack. :(

So I hope this helps mom as much as it'll help me (by quitting smoking). :D

Argh the fake cough was bad enough when I smoked - to hear if I vape would probably push me to..bad behaviour!
I've had the fake coughing, in a area mind you where smoking was PERMITTED, and I must admit to taking very short quick puffs deliberatly producing more smoke than even *I* could deal with just to annoy the cougher.
Later my friend faked an asthma attack around this same person while they were using perfume, just because we wanted her to know what it feels like.
I know, it was wrong  but hopefully we taught her a lesson in manners. :D

There are no more manners when it comes to the anti smokers, they're hateful. I have a friend (? maybe not friend) who is fat, yes fat, but she always had something to say about my smoking (when I smoked analogs). Do you think it would have been politically correct for me to say something to her when she was stuffing her fat face??? I'm not that insensitive or cruel.

That's awesome, I ought to try that. The thing is, she used to smoke. She's one of THOSE nonsmokers, one of the evil "You should quit, cold turkey, no vaping, no nothing, just quit. You're still using nicotine? Oh, only 8mg per cartridge? Why? Quit. You should just quit *cough cough* I can't handle the smell. Blah blah blah blah blah..." :-x

Although, when she did say she didn't like the smell, I did reply with "You don't like the smell of cinnamon buns?!?! What kind of person are you?!"

Best Answer Ever! I haven't even started vaping yet and I can't wait to deal with people like this. (not in a super-confrontational way, but I enjoy ruining peoples pre-conceptions and enlightening the ignorant)
