Best Answer Ever! I haven't even started vaping yet and I can't wait to deal with people like this. (not in a super-confrontational way, but I enjoy ruining peoples pre-conceptions and enlightening the ignorant)

I usually delight in the same :D I was just so flustered by this whole thing that I had no idea how to react

I know I used to wheeze and cough at night so much that it woke me up. I have vaped just a little over 2 weeks and my wheezing and coughing have stopped and my lungs are so much clearer. I used an inhaler sometimes when it got bad but I don't think I'll need it any more.

every morning i would hack my lungs out
now going on week two vapeing
forgot what it was like to take a full breath of air and not wheeze and cough
feels so good

I'm a bit worry I'll get flamed for this, but here goes. I may be wrong but if it is pg used in smoke machines at bars and concerts it does trigger my asthma. That being said, she most likely was faking but different people have different triggers. I have to use vg. My son uses pg around me though. It doesn't reach high enough levels to bother me unless he blows right in my face at like the exact moment I breath in.

Geezer and SGMetal - Yeah, that's really me :D It's an older pic, my hair's a little longer now but that's about it. I've been trying to update it all day, but for whatever reason the new pic won't load. I appreciate the compliments though! ;)

Yeah, I've been vaping around my grandmother who has severe emphysema and she's fine with it. I guess it's just the shock of coming across someone so close-minded for the first time since I started vaping :nah:

No need for you to get flamed, it's a good reminder of everyone is different. It has been stated before that some people are allergic to PG and that VG is a good alternative. It's good that you posted your opinion so we all can have a reminder of this. No blowing vapor into peoples faces for me.

Another asthmatic to chime in here who's pretty much been able to dump the inhaler after switching over to vaping.... some folks just want to use their "condition" to control everyone around them. Sadly, it's usually the folks who's "condition" is something that's more in their heads than in their bodies.

I've had perfumes and colognes set off my asthma, and I was absolutely miserable at times when I was still smoking... but I've never had a PV send me into an attack ... also, I did double check way back in November when I started vaping and yup...PG in my inhaler - all of them regardless of prescription.

I love it that I can leave the house for a quick run to the grocery store and not have a panic attack because I left my inhaler on the bedside table.

Ditto on everything said. Asthma here too.

Although, when she did say she didn't like the smell, I did reply with "You don't like the smell of cinnamon buns?!?! What kind of person are you?!"

She's an alien invader from the planet Xendar if she doesn't like the smell of cinnamon buns!

Even my friend who is allergic to cinnamon (her lips start swelling drinking certain sodas with cinnamon in them, for example) loves the smell.

It sounds like vaping near her may actually help her, be sure to blow the vapor her way when vaping around her to help her feel better, lol.

While the PG is an ingredient in some inhalers, it's likely the albuterol that is really what is doing it.

I am an asthmatic, I'm using a PG-containing liquid, I'm not having any problems with it and can breathe better even after just a few short days. But it's likely because the PG is less irritating to my lungs than cigarette smoke, not that it's necessarily good for me.

That being said, remember that the lung constriction/coughing in asthma is the body's way to try to protect itself from whatever irritant it thinks is the problem -- and is somewhat reflexive. So is salivation -- can you make yourself salivate? No, but if you associate ringing a bell with putting beef powder on a dog's tongue, you can make a dog salivate by ringing the bell.

Her brain very well could have associated the cloud of smoke she sees with the need to constrict her lungs to avoid an irritant heading her way. So yes, it very well may make her cough and wheeze. It's psychological, but it still can't be pleasant.

In other words... some of the overreactions to vaping *may* not be purposeful and intentional. Some may be simply placebo effect. If they think it'll make them sick... it will. Sad.

I was only trying to be nice. Honestly, though, how am I being closed-minded? I Truly want to know so I can improve as a person.

pretty darn perfectly stated for the psychological and automatic bodily functions.

My sister-in-law dated a Xendarian. They rob the homeless and kick puppies, I hear.

I theorize that they are in key places in higher government, and are seizing shipments to take back to their home planet. Only analogs there, ya know.

I work as a karaoke host in a bar, and while some of our customers were so glad the smoking ban was coming (it came into effect Jan. 2 in our state), most of us were apprehensive about it. When I started vaping, I kept waiting for the first person to claim that it still irritated them and report us to the health dept. for "smoking". So far, everyone seems to love it, even our non-smokers. I am glad to hear from some asthmatics who vape. I was wondering how it affects you.

At some point, I am bound to meet someone who hates smoking so much that they don't like our cigs because they simulate smoking. So far I've been lucky.
