So, today I go to my local vape shop to buy my wife a starter kit. I say to the woman that owns the shop, "I would like an eGo kit, please." What she grabs looks nothing like what I bought, which I thought I bought and eGo, and I have been very pleased with it. I say "That's not the right one, mine looks like that one." To my surprise I am pointing to an Echo 510 kit. I obviously didn't know the difference when I bought it, and the case it came in says eGo in big letters right on it, so I thought I had an eGo, when I actually had an Echo. My question is which is better? From my understanding the eGo is a 3.2 V, and the Echo is 4.2 V, isn't that better for vapor production? I guess it is kind of a moot point since everything that I have purchased since starting to vape I have been ecstatically pleased with. Just sayin'

The Ego is certainly more popular on these boards from which i can tell by peoples posting habbits. I dont own one myself though so cant say anything about it but i am thinking about buying one

I like my ego. I've had it for a couple days and have quit analogs (finally). I haven't used the Echo. Now I'm curious but I can't go spend more money right now.

I can say that based on the reviews on YouTube I did think that the ego would produce more vapor and it really doesn't. It's not horrible and it gets the job done for sure. All of the juices I've tried in it have been great. My cartos and DCTs came today and I can't wait to see what I like. I do hate messing with the tanks and attys for the ego. It's really annoying. I keep dropping the tiny parts.

I say if you like it, use it til you want a change!! Its great that you found something you like right away!! That is hard to do.

I know, it is great. The best part about it was during my initial purchase. I mean who better to give you a recommendation than a shop owner that deals with the products every day. I have been doing most of my buying of supplies from forum vendors because they have a wider variety, but I usually visit the local shop twice a month for odds and ends I may run out of.

Ok, I will state up front that I am not an Ego fan, but just from reading all the posts, the Egos, all versions, seem to cause more problems for new members than other sharpie sized PVs, and usually cost more, both in the beginning and for any proprietary bits and pieces you may need. They also are 3.4 volt, not 3.7.

The ECHO is a eGo really..li-ion batteries are called 3.7v but really they charge to 4.2v..some eGo's must have either unregulated power (starts at 4.2 and drops as the battery drains) or different voltage regulators that try to keep the voltage the same until the battery drains..the lower they regulate the voltage the longer the battery will probably go between charges...

I have and love my echo-e batteries. By far, my favorite. There's no way you'd know my looking at it really. They pretty much look identical to other ego type batteries.

Yes, you do get a better vape with it than the 3.4 or 3.7 batteries.

I think normal Echo is KR808D-1 threaded, not 510-threaded. Echo-E is 510-threaded

Voltage - Ego around 3.4v, not sure what Echo is but is may be 3.7v (no single battery is 4.2v nor called "4.2v". All unregulated 3.7v batteries come off the charger higher, 3.9 to 4.2v)

Most standard 3.7 volt lithium-ion batteries come off the charger at around 4.2 volts and decline from there.

And here is where you have two choices...
--Egos have a "regulator" that utilizes 3.4 volts of that initial charge and keeps it there
--Some other models do not have a regulator and you get 4.2 volts to start and it drops from there

More voltage equals more vapor, more throat hit, and a warmer drag.

To be completely and totally honest, I don't see any reason anyone should buy a 3.7 volt battery regulated down to 3.4 volts.
The other "unregulated" models will give you 3.4 volts or better for long enough that there is no real downside.

Unless you want a substandard but consistent voltage that is.
And I guess some people might want that.

I only have an Echo so I can't compare to an Ego. I've been very pleased with the vapor production and throat hit -- it also LASTS. I have the 1300mah batteries and need to be out of the house for 12 hours a day. The downside is that it needs ~9 hours of charge time. The Echo is 808 threaded, so 510 stuff won't fit without an adapter.

The cartos for the Echo are 3ml which is enough to get me through the day without worrying about refilling. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase.

I have backup 808 stuff, smaller Bloogs, but haven't had to rely on them at all. They're just around in case I forget to charge overnight

Battery fade is a big deal for me. I find it highly annoying. The eGo addresses that issue by regulating down to a voltage the battery can consistently deliver. I'd much rather regulate to a higher voltage than the the eGo delivers since 3.4V is too low for anything over ~2.2Ω. That narrows your atty/carto choices. The solution for me is to use a mod that either uses a single cell with boost or dual cells that step down. There's no other option for me.

2.5ohm CE2's seem to vape really well on the lower-mid side of 3 volts with thicker juices..side by side against my DC Tanks CE2's put out more vapor..I plan on putting CE2's in my tanks after I use up the 4-1.5ohm DC caromizers that came with the kit I got yesterday from MadVapes..my SmokTech eGo's that came in the kit are supposed to be 3.7v ones but I haven't tested them under a load yet..my older ones tested around 3.5v under a load but they work really well put out tons of warm vapor with my 2.5ohm CE2's...

Your Echo 510 has a 2ml cartomizer, the Echo auto has a 3ml carto. You will not find a better cartomizer than Echo. They simply last, don't leak, and hold a lot of juice. I don't know why you got your Echo in an Ego box, but you got the better deal. You can get Echo 650 batteries for $12.95 at North West Vapor. Great deal, great product.

My echo must be an Echo-E as someone stated above because it has the 510 threads. Like I said, I thought I bought an eGo so all of the cartos and attys I've bought have been for an ego, and everything, with the exception of some mega dual coil cartos, have worked. Like someone said above also, I take long drags so the boge 2.0 ohm cartos I bought have been burning pretty easily. It really doesn't matter at this point because I am thinking about buying a Provari now based on a you tube video I saw. That will probably be down the road, but in the mean time I love what I have. And as far as my wife is concerned, she loves her new kit, just another thing we can do together. Since I'm a veteran compared to her she has been asking me how to do things, and for advice on what she needs.

i got off the analogs with an ego starter kit 14 weeks ago,,i now have a provari in one hand,,,and the same ego with a emdcc in the other hand...
higher voltage isn't the end to beat all ,,it is what each person prefers or wants ??
some juices taste a lot better in my ego,then they do on the provari,,

I used to be crazy.. but ecigs helped me get over it.
Spending $22-25 a day for something that you know kills you qualifies as crazy doesn't it?
