Stay away from eGo tank/ atomizer kits because they are very problematic. Here's a great starter kit for $50. The vendor is ECF listed and very popular here at ECF.
Battery & Cartomizer/Tank Kits
Located in Newmarket, high quality gear and lower prices. Also has a stall on weekends at highway 400 Flea Mkt. Just be aware there's another PV vendor there with very high prices.
Good Luck.

Thanks to the OP for asking and the rest of you for answering. I too am brand new, looking to get off cigs. I'm looking for an option that provides a decent load of vapor.

I only smoke about three cigs from waking until 5-6pm (office job) but tend to smoke a bunch more at night (but will have access to a charger). So battery life isn't as important to me but I smoke a cig quick as I tend to draw long and hard. I'm not sold on the flavour idea but it sounds from others that getting a true cigarette tasting juice is hard.

Any ideas? I was looking at a joye-ego-t (for $89.99 CAD) that includes:
Included in the kit:
- 2 – 650 mAh rechargeable batteries
- 2 – eGO-T atomizers
- 1- 120 volt wall charger
- 1- usb charger
- 5 pack of eGO-T cartridges (dry)

Any and all help welcome and appreciated!

(snip) I.wish they had a e cig guide for dummies...

Amen! There is so much arguing here at times it can be hard to get a straight answer.

One of the things I think helped me is to realize that I really did not want something that looked and tasted like a cigarette - they're really nasty, right?

The strong vanilla flavors and others like them are satisfying in a different way helping me to break from the smoking habit without associating the taste. Yes, the other stuff is there - hand to mouth, inhaling, exhaling and if I want it throat hit (personally I am no longer a fan - been smoking too long I guess). This was an epiphany for me.

There are so many devices and delivery systems ... Just keep asking questions. I am learning by the answers to your questions too ;)

Again I second the "vaping for dummies" request! The forums are filled with so many arguments - it would help to have some concise treatments of the various major topics - somewhere.

ECF Moderators - comments? Seems like a good idea ...

Six cigarettes a day would be equivalent to about:
- less than 0.5 ml of 24 mg
- less than 1 ml of 18 mg
- a tiny bit less than 1 ml of 12mg
- a little over 1ml of 6mg
- etc.

Depends on how much juice you want to go through in a day. If you use a low power ego, you'll go through juice less quickly.

Also, its however much keeps you off cigs but doesn't make you uncomfortable. Its all about finding your balance :)

Wow, lots of activity while I was asleep! lol.

I was a pack a day smoker and started with 24 mg (that's what the guy at the shop put me on). My eyes were twitching and everything, so I went to a different shop, and went down to 18mg. Now I'm down to 12 mg (doing some 0mg and 6mg as well). I'd follow yiddle's suggestion on nic content as well. Some days, I'll be on it constantly, or really love the flavor (nic rush), but generally, that's a safe nic content.

Depending on how you smoke an analog, you'll get about 1mg of nicotine per analog. The mg rating on eliquid, is the mgs of nicotine per ml of juice. I can vape up to 6mls a day (72 mg of nicotine), which is like three packs of smokes compared to my one pack. But it'll balance out eventually. I think I like the flavors more than the nic at this point :)[/QUOTe

So if I smoke about six cigarettes a day how many mg of nic should I get?

The problem with a one size fits all newbies guide, is that......... there is no one size fits all. I agree that it's very difficult, and would be nice to have a more concise "go here, look at this" guide. But everything about all of this is so very subjective. What one person loves another will absolutely despise. Also everything changes so quickly. What might be a great thing now, in a month or two is obsolete. Although research is good, you'll really only find your perfect vape by trial and error. I know that's not what y'all want to hear, but it's what I've found to be so. I am still fairly new to this, but have learned a LOT in a short time. Some of it from listening to well respected folks here who have good common sense, and some of it from making poor choices for me. People focus so much on the battery, because that's the most expensive part of the purchase initially. But in reality it is only a battery. Yes, some are better than others, but in my opinion, what you put on it is going to do a lot more in determining if you're happy with your vaping experience. This is why you get a million answers to one simple question.

Yeah, I realize it is like the computer industry was in the 70s & 80s - very young and tons of choices with technological leaps being made monthly. Our only sources of info were magazines, BBSes and user group meetings.

I guess I am just suffering from an inability right now to filter through all of the noise. Reminds me of all the "my programming language is the obvious best & you are not a true progressional if you do not use it" arguments on the boards of that time. Guess those people had children of their own after all ...

With time I will certainly learn from who to listen and use the software (hopefully) to filter out the religious junk.

Thanks for considering it. The sticky topics do help some.

That's exactly it, but since you mentioned thanks for considering it, I want to make sure you know, I'm not an ECF moderator, I'm just a member giving my opinion on it. I too have often wished for something like this, but I think the best way to get something like this is for someone to actually write something up, submit it to the moderators and powers that be, to see if it could be stickied. I have considered doing something like this, but still feel that I need some more experience in some areas before attempting it, and would certainly send it to a few veterans who's opinions I respect before submitting it to ECF. One person to really pay attention to in my opinion is Sailorman. He typically gives very good advice without pushing his personal vaping choices on anyone. If you haven't already you will see the term "provangelist" There are many here, who think the provari is the be all end all and will invariably suggest it everytime a newbie says......I want a simple inexpensive cig look alike to start on.....what's the best. Someone will come along and say......get a provari, you'll end up there eventually anyhow, so just start with it. lol Drives those of us with common sense nuts when someone does that. I believe that Sailorman has also posted that he really doesn't mind someone pm'ing him if they have a specific question about things and he'll help if he can. He trys to help whenever he can.
