What do you think? The US Consumers Product Safety Commission has come out with a new character, Vapo McJuicy. He is supposed to prevent kids from drinking ejuice.

At the risk of sounding stupid but....this is something you made right Territoo?
No way this can be real, sure hope not lol.
Oh wow!! it is real, google'd it knowing it will come out empty and lo' and behold it is real,oh god.
No way I'd make something that stupid.
Instead of a character targeting kids, wouldn't Vapo McHandcuffs be more effective?[/Qdiurnal.
That's reserved for us vapers.
It’s like a slap in the face from an insolent child.I'm incredibly confused because they're doing everything in their power to make those things no longer be in existence in the USA This would be a PSA for if they had freely passed the PMTAs that met the requirements. I guess since there's yet to be a consumer ban It's not quite the same as coming out with a PSA on how to safely store your biotoxin...
It also reminds me how there was a government adjacent group for consumer protection who would make recommendations on containing toxic products so as children couldn't get into them easily. And they weren't government but their standards would often be adopted by the government I believe. So they had a lot of pull.
Anyhow They made recommendations for e-juice bottles to the manufacturers. But this was pre-pmta submission time when companies could not modify their products in any major way or they could immediately be declared illegal to sell rather than the FDA just allowing them to sell them so long as it wasn't a new product.
So the companies were like we cannot modify our bottles the way you are suggesting because then they will immediately be taken off the shelves because we have to keep the product the same as a certain time period due to the tobacco laws. And the safety group was like we don't care we are going to take your products off the shelf if you don't do this. So they were literally put in a cannot possibly win scenario where one quasi government agency and another definitely government agency were making it impossible to function. They were damned if they did damned if they didn't.
The companies were ready willing and able to comply they're like yeah we want to show that we are good stewards and that we care about the community and we don't want the packaging to be unsafe but at the same time we can't do anything because then you're going to take our products off the shelves because it's now a new product.
I probably should have gone over that more concisely but I don't remember all the details but does anyone else remember that. They eventually worked it out by allowing for changes in the safety of the bottles without considering it a new product that would then immediately be subject to removal from the shelves
There's an ulterior motive in there somewhere. With all the problems in the world right now, this is what the bureaucrats are focused on.![]()
I googled and found one case in 2014 when one child died but didn't find the details other than he/she was a one year old. I am sure that a lot of calls are made when a parent sees or believes their child has or may have ingested but I don't see hard numbers of harm.
I have no issues with high nic juices and high mg base for mixing to have a child resistant cap. Honestly though I don't really see high nic premixed juices anymore. 100 mg base wouldn't be a bad requirement....maybe there already is a requirement for that. I will have to look at my bottles. I think they are child resistant.
If I had a child in my house I would probably store my mixing supplies in a more secure place.
