From one relative newbie to others,
The electronic cigarette is a wonderful tool to quit smoking but can quickly turn into a costly hobby.. lol

I just dropped another 50.00 on stuff, that makes a grand total of 280.00 in a little over 5 weeks..

I have seen others drop more than that.

This time around I ordered stuff to DIY my own juices and hopefully won't need to spend anymore for a few months... I already have enough expensive hobbies like my coral reef tank and playing/collecting guitars and amps...

I think staying away from the forums for a while and off vendors sites may be in my future..lol

You have been warned.. :p

I think I'll actually save money even though I made my own smokes for 3 years previous to vaping, at probably around $2/pack (after the new taxes). I've spent a bit over $400, but the parts n liquids I've got should last me at least a year I'd think. Yet to kill an atty. I doubt I'll spend more than $50/month on vaping supplies, though being only about 6 weeks in I do have more ramping-up buying to do. Only worried about the gov't taxing vaping supplies to high hell some day.

I think everyone on here knows the cost - unless they haven't checked their credit card statement recently....lol. i have spent $300 in 2 weeks - on 3 different models, juice, carto's - you name it.

The biggest problem is it takes at least $150 just to have any idea what you want. This is why I have always recommended that almost every new user start out with something like the EGO/Riva. It may or may not end up being the best model for YOU - BUT at least you will have great performance to start...and know whether you like to vape.

That is where the ECF comes in.... cut down on experimentation and costly mistakes.

I was spending over $400.00 per month on analogs. For me spending over $200.00 a month buying mods and juice and having fun is well worth the $ to me.

This is just my 2c and I spend a lot on Ecig stuff. :)

I was at $250.... if i lived in NY it would have $500. Part of the problem is people are so used to going to 7-11 and paying $18 for 3 pad, or whatever, they don't notice it.

You could literally buy a new ecig model every couple of months and still spend no more than you would have on analogs...

OBVIOUSLY the cheapest solution is simply to quit.... but that is entirely a different topic...

True BUSS... I am glad to have started with the EGO.. I does take a few tries at things to get your system working right for you... In the long run I will save money.. Heck I'm probably not but 100 over what I would have spent on smokes by now and I should have enough supplies to get me through for a while..

Still I didn't realize how addictive a personality I have till I started vaping... Started out as hey an ego and some juice and I'm good, them oh wait what's this about this dripping and 306 atty's, oh wow I liked all 10 of the samples I got and need to order more.. LOL.. you get the point.

In the long run I get to live longer, and long term save money, but man I got to stop buying for now.. :)

yup yup, i am in a similar boat. It is taking a bit ofrestraint, but i am expanding my supplies beyond what cam ith my starter kit while staying at/or below how much i would normally spend on analogs. The way i see it, once i feel comfortable on supplies i can start to really witness the savings by purchasing fluids.

For now, i am just worried about the FDA's appeal. So i am spending a bit more than i planned stocking up on the atomizers. (Just in case)Hehehe thank fully i found a site that will give heafty 50% discount on atomizers when your buying in bulk.

I've spent well over $500 in the one month I've been vaping. Around $270 will be refunded to me from GreenSmokes. My spending has slowed way down, and the money I'm spending is going toward stocking the juices I really like and getting extra supplies. I splurged today on Mega atty's, cartomizers, and cartridges just so I can give them a test run. If I like them, then maybe I'll order more at a later time. This is still cheaper to me then spending $300-400/month on analogs, not to mention that I'm already noticing the improvements to my health. You can't put a price on that!

I completely understand. This is a very addictive hobby. Part of that is most of us smokers likely have addictive personalities to start... PERFECT group to start a web site for... LOL.

I've def spent more in the last week then I would of cig's but I've got settled on what hardware I want, got a fair amount of juice and starting to build up my DIY juice supplies.. Still need some more DIY supplies and will probably pick up more carto's next week I may spend what I spent on cig's but after that I should be down to spending alot less.

One thing that some may not think about in cost.... health insurance premiums. If you are a "smoker" your premiums are easily double....

On another note: In the analog suits where the cig companies had to pay billions to states there were studies done by Harvard and others I believe where they said it was complete bogus that cigs cost states even one nickle in cost..... Why? The suits never took into account that people die earlier that smoke... The suits were government extortion - at best. Point being, how much is your life and health worth?

All I can add to this discussion is the fact that my signature banner lies about the money I've saved, but saving money is really not the point, saving my health is the point - and after being analog free for almost 4 months, I can honestly tell you that I am feeling much healthier. My sense of taste has returned, my breathing is much better, and my shortness of breath has diminished greatly, so it's all good, and I don't worry about the money.
