I experienced a little bit of this, but now am perfectly content with my Ego/CE5 setup. My goal was not only to get healthy, but to save as much money as possible doing it. I'll end up saving around $700-800 a year at this rate and I'm using that as my motivation to resist the more fancy hardware, because I know if I dive in it just won't end. No dangling carrot for me this time.

Well said Fyreffect and feel the same as you do. I'm using close to the same setup as you and if it works and keeps one happy then I say just stick with what works. :)

I don't know exactly where I fit in when it comes to equipment...

--I started with a 510 cig-alike and used it for 3 months until I got tired of charging batteries all the time.
--Bought my Chucks and used them with 18650 batteries for 27 months until I tried high voltage vaping at a Vapemeet.
--Bought some 4.8 volt NiMH batteries to use instead of 18650's and used that for 6 months
--Bought an Ego Twist for variable voltage in a smaller form-factor and been using those for 13 months

As for juice delivery, I started dripping with 510 atomizers.
I'm still dripping with 510 atomizers.

So yeah, I guess I qualify as blue collar after all.
:)

Although I have to admit to buying a Bartleby (and later a Mini Reo) at some point during those 48 months.
But for various reasons they never made into into daily use, and now collect dust.

DC2, that is pretty reasonable amounts. Especially for being into vaping for such a good chunk of time.
It's been nice to have things to look forward to :) Buying everything at once kind of puts the brakes on that.Plus I was pretty tired of forking out dough for an addiction. So going from kr808 to eGos was nice, and kept me content for 7 months. The only super naughty thing left that I know won't happen anytime soon is a G.G. Mostly because of the way it looks lol. The metal just looks good. Solid and gorgeous.

I'm probably too conservative. I stuck with 808s for the longest time and ended up smoking a lot whenever I got frustrated with my gear.

Now that I've skipped to my first vv/vw mod and invested in a few juices and tanks, I feel much more satisfied to the point where smoking is no longer on the radar at all. $60 for the kit and batteries (what I paid for my first 808 kit incidentally) was totally worth it and I don't really see it as a luxury item.

I have a pair of cheap ego backups and they are probably in the middle space but I sure wouldn't trade them for my mod.

Guilty as charged. I have a lot of everything vape related and still want more. I have at least six RBAs that are still in the box because I haven't found the time to build them. And don't you know that when I finally get around to it I'll have to go purchase a new flavor juice to put in them. As if sixty flavors in sixty different tanks isn't enough! But alas, I do have fun!

More to the point of this post, I'm a guitar player and I frequent a guitar gear forum. The forum experience is very similar.....you see all the great gear available and pretty soon you feel like what you have is no longer sufficient. They call it G.A.S. on the guitar forums. "Gear Acquisition Syndrome"! And you see the same debates on what gear is the best. Even guitar gear forums have thier versions of the Provari's and high end gear.

Good analogy.

I'm thinking it is Steve Vai but pardon me if I'm wrong. Someone claimed to be able to tell what type of battery was in an active pick-up. He was put to a test and passed. The overwhelming majority of people can't hear the difference. Of those who can most probably don't care. So yes, for him every little detail makes a difference even if most listening don't notice or care.

Same goes with some people here. Some notice and care about minuscule differences. However, yes, a lot of people just have G.A.S.

Blame it all on my roots.
I showed up in boots.
My Vamo in my hand.
All of your friends
Provari high ends.
Blowing little clouds
Here and there.
Pulled out my RSST
On my GTS clone
blew a cloud that filled up the room.
The fire alarm sounded. The police came.
your party ended to soon.

Oh I like to vape in low places
where the e juice flows and the big clouds chase
My blues away
And that's OK.
I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the vape Oasis
Cause I like to vape
In low places.

And, just cause I made this for another post and want to share it again:

:D

I took the familiar path of gas station Ecigs to a few Ego setups and a few different tanks and guess what??? I'm perfectly happy with what I have!!

I don't doubt that there are better vaping solutions available but I guess I'm just not into the equipment of these activities as much as I am into the activity itself. And I don't think there is anything wrong with being into gear. Besides it being expensive, it's a fun, harmless hobby. If you think these vape setups are costly, there are guys that spend 10's of thousands on guitars, amps, gizmos etc.....and I think thats cool if you can afford it. But you do see posts about guys having financial problems because they maxed out the lines of credit buying guitars. It's crazy.

And I'll bet there are forums for just about every other hobby that involves equipment. I heard there is a forum for high end flashlights! Again, it's all fine and good, I'm just making conversation. But at this point (2 months into quitting analogs completely) I must say I don't seem to have G.A.S. for the latest and greatest vape rig. I'm just happy with what I have and I'm glad to consider myself a non-smoker after 35 years.

Back before I had a digital thingy, I built a "pedal board" where I popped the backs off all my effects, mounted them on a wedge, and hard wired them to a single wall plug. Before THAT though, I had a whole battery rotation - a couple units needed a fresh 9v. for every important gig, and one of them ONLY sounded right with a nearly dead battery in it.

I think i might have just invented variable voltage flange. Or maybe it was distortion. I don't remember - long time ago.
LOL.

Eric Johnson, not Vai. And supposedly it's the battery in his effects pedals.
