So Wednesday I'm driving home and in rush hour traffic. As usual we are crawling and I'm blank. I drive in the extreme right hand lane which I find always goes faster than than the other lanes. I think its because its "The Toronto Syndrome" - defined as head jammed firmly up a dark malordorus place used for the evacuation of processed biomass.

I'm content vaping my Provari mini with ZAP; fresh batteries and 60 ml of juice on the passenger seat beside me just in case this commute goes from the ridiculous to the ludicrous. I happen to look over to my left at the car next to me - one guy in the car all the windows rolled down and get this, he's sitting there with an eGo with a clearomizer on top having a vape. He hasn't seen me. I decide to roll down my window and have a conversation, after all we're not going anywhere anyway.

THe biggest decision of my commute, what am I going to say to this guy?

1. "Hey what ya doin?" No I'm Canadian have to be polite
2. "How about those Leafs?" No they fell early like they always do
3. "How about those Blue Jays?" Na another world series contender that won't even hit .500
4. "How about those Raptors?" Not even, even though a Canadian invented the game I know duck about the game except for the view that the games should start with each team having 100 points and run for a total of 5 minutes.

While I'm trying to figure this out he's still sitting there playing with the thing. I feel a mounting frustration with the traffic and the "shared craving" that he should be blowing clouds, I can't hold it in, I just blurt out:

"Just vape it!"

I had to shout there was so much traffic noise I wanted to make sure he heard me. He did! He jumped out of his seat and dropped his eGo. THe eGo didn't go far it was on a lanyard.

When he recovered the shock and surprised turned into a big grin. We had a nice chat for a about kilometre but had to break it off because all those polite Canadians were waving at us, middle finger, and blowing their horns, they were cheering for the Leafs.

It turns out he's been vaping for a month and is thrilled at the success of getting off the analogues. I encouraged him to join the ECF and will look for him.

Hey everyone. New to the rebuilding world thanks to Idaholandho. Got myself a zenesis mini and had a few questions about it. I am currently using 100% vg on a 28 gauge , 3/4 wrap and a porous wick (installed tonight). It'd currently at 1.2 ohms and I swear its always burning. Literally when I take the top cap off it'll actually burn. I tried a 4/5 wrap and I wasn't getting much vapor and pretty much no flavor. Prior to this install I was running a 5/6 wrap with 30 g kenthal on 400 ss mesh, and even with that I was having a hard time. Taking a decent vape (2-3 second) I was getting decent flavor but the second vape I took would burn instantly. Even at that point it seemed to get a decent amount of vapor one my exhale, the battery had to be extremely fresh. And battery wise, I'm using a AW IMR 18350 700mAh. If you guys have any input on what's happening or if I'm doing something wrong it'll be much appreciated. Mahaols!

I'm going to stick my two cents in here on this one.....

There have been "tests" done by many people on which mesh is the "best".
My favorite one was done by Mike himself.

What he did was had a few of his workers test different pieces of mesh he had labeled 325, 400, 475, and 500.
He had them make note of which was best for taste, wicking, etc. regardless of the PG/VG ratio of their particular juice.

Across the board, they ALL chose the 475.
The result? There is no 475. In fact, all of the pieces of mesh that they tested were all the same, cut off of the same large sheet of mesh.
There was no difference what so ever between any piece of mesh given to them to test.

That said, your oxidation process and the thickness of your wick is what is going to make the most difference to you.
The insulator is there for beginners and advanced "rollers" alike, to make the wrapping processes easier.

I use the same mesh in all of my gennies. The "fatter" the wick, the better it wicks. For me.
Regardless of the PG/VG ratio.
There is no "better" mesh for higher VG or higher PG.

The fatter the wick, the less wrap of wire you will need, it's basically the same amount of wire, just going around the fatter wicks less often. In other words, if you wrap 5 times around a skinny wick and 3 times around a fat wick, you're basically using the same amount of wire.

The ONLY gauge of wire Mike recommends for the Zen products regardless of mesh or ceramic, is 32g.
And the red AW IMR batteries.

Get yourself some 32g.

If your juice is literally catching fire, I would try adding or dropping wraps until you get a wrap that isn't catching fire.
If by burning you mean boiling or bubbling around the wire, your wire isn't tight enough.

If by burning you mean "dry" hits, it's not wicking fast enough to keep up with your vaping style.
Try tipping more or attempting to take less consecutive hits until the ceramic breaks in.
(I haven't really tried the ceramic so I don't know much about it)

And let us know how you're doing.....

Great story, PG, I wish I ran into more vapers out here in the hinterlands.......:)

I too have one. Put a zAtty U on top and it is very nice..

So I promised myself no more mods, cool your jets, blah blah until Vapestock.

Then I saw the GP 2.5 up today. So much for that promise.

If your looking for me at Vapestock, just look for the guy doing this.

ummmm question..............if I am not using mesh is the insulator nec.? wth is that faceplant smiley
I am not freaking taking this thing apart again!

The oxidation of the wire mesh is to REDUCE conductivity. It will still always be there, it is metal after all, but it will help reduce it.
Same with the insulator. It helps reduce points of conductivity to make it easier to avoid/eliminate hot spots and shorts.

While it is not strictly necessary to make the PV work... Mike and very few others have included it to make the process easier.

If you are using something other than wire mesh through the wick hole, and it happens to be a non/less conductive material, the insulator, as a way to reduce the conductivity, is not needed.

On a side note... for those of you using the nextel and/or silica, do you find any juice darkening?
I will still, on occasion, get the dark juice.
Usually, I have the wire a little too loose or something along those lines, but now and then, even with a "perfect" wrap, after a week or so, I'm looking at dark juice.
I usually just rewrap, but thought I would ask about that when using nextel.

Not a bit, but honestly I never did using mesh either so maybe I'm not the best person to answer. I HIGHLY doubt you'll see that with it though.
