I just received my Zen2 490 carto hybrid (happy dance!!) , but I'm having a bit of difficulty getting it to fire.

I *think* it's that the carto isn't making a connection at the bottom of the tank. I got an extra 510 cap, so i've been able to check a few things. I've done all the problem solving i can, so I'm missing something.

The carto fires when it's attached to the regular 510 cap on the Zen body, so the battery is making the connection, and the carto itself works.

Neither the carto nor a 510 atty will fire when i use the base of the tank instead of the 510 cap. I tried adjusting the lower screw on the bottom cap, just in case the heads were slightly different, but no dice.

So, I think I'm not getting electrical contact between the base of the carto and the base of the tank. I tried pulling out the center post of the carto, but that also didn't work.

Is it possible that the screw in the base of the tank is just a hair too short? I'm hesitant to try to tighten it.

Any tips or tricks to make that connection? or is there something pretty basic that I'm missing?
Thanks!

Thanks Andy.

Will the additional washer help the battery make the connection to the top cap? I think the battery is making the connection, at least it is when i use the 510 cap.

When i meter the carto in the tank connector it reads 16 mega Ohms. The tank connector without the carto reads 16 mega Ohms the tank base meters as open with or without the carto attached.

... But when i meter the carto using the regular 510 cap, it meters at 2.5 ohms, and when i measure the cap without the carto it reads 0.L mega ohms (i think as it should be)

ETA- the battery is definitely making contact with the tank base. I can meter the battery voltage with the tank base attached and the switch depressed.

but the carto tank still doesn't fire :(

Tried setting up the carto hybrid with the mini cobalt tank and used a DC 1.5 oHm shortie carto. Punched a hole in the carto just a little bit smaller than the hole in the carto that came with. Leaked like a stuck pig all over the place. Leak was coming from the air holes just under the tank.

Need to watch Zen vid again about filling up the carto hybrid. I did turn it upside down the first try. On the second try I didn't put the top cap on at all, just set it on my desk. Still leaked profusely.

Hole in carto too big? Does the carto even need a hole in the side?

Repent - Need to make sure the Hole doesn't go thru the filler. Put the Top cap on per instructions ... this will even the pressure so it cant run thru so easy, Yes you need a hole in the die of the carto or a prepunched.

Hole does go through into the filler. I tried to do the inverted trick like Zen showed but the carto got flodded anyway. Most likely because of the hole going into the filler. I measured the hole in the carto sent along with the Zen and it's 3mm. Nice perfectly round hole that doesn't touch the filler at all and puts no dent into the carto so I'm guessing put there before the filler and coil are added.

I would love to be able to do that at home. I don't know if the carto punch I bought from COV, the one that is a block of aluminum with the carbide point that screws into the side of the carto. Puts a dent in the carto before the carbide tip punches through the sidewall. I don't see an issue with the dent because it's high enough on the carto. Just don't know if the hole created is wide enough to allow proper wicking as it's only 1mm wide
