at first i looked and was shock at the $25.00 price tag (probably 30 with shipping) but then i thought for a sec and thats $5.00 ($6) a cart, considering time, expenses, and 'research' that seems like a great deal.

i do have a question though; what kind of life expectancy do these things have. i know you just starting making them, but any guess or knowledge?

Im really not sure how long they will last.. but I can tell you this much Ive been using the same cart same plug for 2 weeks now and no signs of wear what so ever.. I dont even know if it will ever need replacing to be onest..

Btw... shiping is free... there are more charges i pay too... paypal charges me a fee when somthing is purchased then pay pal charges me again when I transfer the money over to my bank account.. then time wise it took me all day yesterday to make 20 packs 15 plugs per pack = 300 plugs I had to make Its not easy lol...

Ok, I did this, and feel I did it right; 2mm hole lines up with atomizer, tight seal with membrane at top, filled with juice, and it worked great for 5-8 hits, then get that burnt taste....what is wrong?
If I pump it (move cart in and out), it works good again, but goes back to burnt taste. If I take it out and fiddle with it--it works again for a few hits then that taste again. What am I doing wrong?
PLEASE HELP! I love how it works and vap is killer, but does not last long :(

I had the same problem with one of my attys, but not on another one.

I think our problem is that the atty has insufficient wicking material inside. (there is no quality control for attys so its all luck of the draw)

try making a bigger hole. If that doesnt work, then stick to dripping. I converted the atty that didnt work with this mod into a purely dripping atty.

Same here, anyone found a way to remedy this?

Well, I've played around with this all last night, and she's working pretty good now, so I feel I can post results.
What I did on 510 cart...the glue method:

1. Used a KR808 condom, cut sleeve, and used the base. The base has a dot right in the center so it makes it easy to punch hole in center. Used a leather punch (2mm hole)

2. Next I shaved .5-1mm off the cart sleeve to made it shorter, you'll see why in a second.

3. De-burred the sleeve and cleaned in hot water, and dried.

4. Used some RC tire glued (special CA glue), and placed small bead on edge of sleeve.

5. Next I took the silicon disc and placed on top of glued area, and centered the hole to the sleeve, then turned upside down and put disc on flat table and lightly pressed sleeve down to get good bond for the two pieces.

6. After it dried, I trimmed the excess of the disc off to make a perfect membrane to store liquid. Next, to let the opening have a little more play so the atomizer would nestle into it nicely, I did 4 small cuts on each side (.005mm)

7. Here is the photo of it finished and with 18hrs of heavy vaporizing on it (also just re-filled!)

This is what I noticed with this mod:

The membrane will shrink some the first few times and stop.

It does not like hard long draws, gets burn taste. Best to draw few seconds, and stop, let cool some, draw again....works great :)

Need to remove cart every once in a while to let breath and re-group.

Lasts a good while, and the taste, is better this way than reg batting, or poly fill.

This will be asked so...no, CA glue is not bad for you. I do suggest you rinse the cart after you're done making it, but CA is not bad--it was developed originally for Field sutures during the Vietnam war, and is still used...jeez, they use acidtone to get if of ya so must be ok

I am still reading this massive thread, about 22 pages into it so someone could have already answer this. Did anyone ever try the nipple from a baby bottle?

I have a whole bag of bottles hidden away somewhere in my house I could find and start messing with.

Also from the starting post the hole was super small, which made sense cause it would keep the liquid in til negative pressure (caused by inhaling) would pull the liquid out of the cart instead of just pulling liquid out of soaked stuffing.
That makes sense to me, I don't understand how these bigger holes I am seeing for this mod are doing the same thing.

If I liquid in a straw, put my finger over one end and turn it upside down. Depending on the width of the inside the water will stay in place. With the wider holes I don't know how the liquid is staying inside.

If you're going to use CA on any of these mods.. please make sure that it is fully, fully, fully cured. And please don't assume that "Kicker" will take care of this for you. Kicker tends to cure the surface.... not necessarily all the way through the adhesive.

CA may be "fine" on the skin.... but you really don't' want to be inhaling the fumes generated by CA as it cures.

Ok, I am definately going to attempt this mod. I ruined the first sleeve thinking I could just use scissors to cut the shape. Now, on the second sleeve, I cut the hole first with scissors just by squeezing the sleeve while it was still whole, and the end folded nicely and made this very easy. I am off to go find razor blades to complete the fitting. I hope I can get this right as it looks promising.

Scottyballs, do you have any of these made for a 901? I don't wanna buy a big tub of this putty just to make a couple plugs. If so, I'd like to order some. :D

I could make them but at the time I don't have any 901 carts and attys to play with.. I am probably going to start 801's and 901's in a few weeks right now I am slammed with the 510's...

sucks cause I cant just buy the carts make molds and send them out.. Ill have to play with the attys to make sure the plugs are at the ideal hight...

Just got mine today. These look like they're cranked out by a precision machine rather than individually hand-crafted from a pliable medium. They are also so tiny I would never attempt making them myself with my marginal close-up eyesight and questionable manual dexterity. Given the durability of these things, this supply will last me for a very long time, indeed.

Well done. Scottyballs!
