I received my 901 plugs the other day and they do feed the atty pretty well. The only problem I have is with them turning in the cart and dumping liquid occasionally. These definitely work better than the ones that I had tried to make from the cap.

I'm thinking of trying something more solid or thicker that can fit snugly in the end of the cart. Then maybe a large opening with a membrane of some sort. I have been having luck with simple coffee filter plugs resting on the straw. When made just thick enough, they block fluid flow but allow the negative pressure created on a draw to pull it through the paper.

This suction created when drawing seems to be the key to getting fluid when you want it but without constant or unpredictable flooding.

For those that are mulling these around, just got mine in today, and all I can say is wow. I topped off a cart in my SB, then did the dishes, and FYI I have been using PTB's and BF mods, all were great except for leaking.
This vapes perfectly, no gurgling, no issues with leaking, and it flows wonderfully with minimal issues.
Granted the H cut is wonderful for my wife, 3.7v vaping, I have to use the large hole for 6v, but still even sitting for an hour fluid down, no leaks. I am really shocked, figured it would leak from that, but it held wonderfully.

I got the 801 plugs that I ordered and am having
no luck at all. :(

Now I see you've removed them completely from your site, Scotty. are you giving up on the 801's now? I've been waiting for the cartridge sets to be ready so I can buy some that already are ready to go.

No... I'm working on a double plug for the 801's the opening in the cart is so big it needs extra support.. I will come up with something especially since I have 50 packs of 801's.. trust me I get 5 emails a day asking when there going to be ready but I don't want to sell something thats not going to work.. when I have a 801 cart that I feel comfortable with I will put them back up...

also Ive taken down the 901's there hit and miss... I am trying to find a vendor that sells the mini 801 looking carts for the 901 if anyone knows where to get them other then TW let me know.. I have a few from TW and they work really good but I need to find better prices then what TW has them for..

Darmeen- Thanks alot! I'm actually loving this thing so far, but after getting into this forum, discovered that I could have done a lot better- and also now have 'gadget envy' after spending $200 for 2 kits for my girl and I. Looks like I'm not alone on that one, eh?

Oh well, I'm cigarette-free, and loving it for now.

The gold SE was my 1st unit too. Lots of batts and attys went bad, but my supplier provided free replacements at the mall. After a while I got sick of running up there for replacements and carts AND I was spending a fortune on carts, so I kind of gave up on it. Then I found this forum! Now I have a kr808D-1 mega batt with cartomizers, 901 attys and carts (no adapter needed) and 510 attys and carts (with adapter). Amazingly, I now also use the original SE (it's actually an RN4081) as a backup. No new carts for me though. I have a drawer full of them, and I just refill them. It's not a bad little backup when you refill the carts (they don't hold enough liquid to last for S%^&!)

Have read most of this at one point or another, but if I may ask a stupid question so I don't have to read through again...

Do the "plugs only" come with straws or are the straws only included with the cartridges?

I am hating every type of filling I've tried, they're either too full or not full enough and it's starting to drive me up the wall. :)

Scottyballs you're an inspiration!

Dude I tried this mod and your other spring & filler idea on my lowly RN4081 (I just started a couple of weeks ago). They both work Great!

I think the plug works the best for me. I just used the orange cap that it comes with, cut it to size, snagged the metal tip from one of my syringes and a hammer to make three holes in the plug (so to line up with the bridge). Cut the straw to length. Dropped in about 8-10 drops, it used to be only 3 or 4. Took the first drag, and almost blow my head clean off.

So far so good, no leaks, no flooding the atty. The only problem I'm having is that there is so much vap that I have take turns typing and exhaling, LOL!!! =)

Thanks again for all your hard work and dedication!

Order the 510 pk today and cant wait to try them. I did read about leaking and flooding attys by some and you suggested modifying the straw length. I hoping they work right from the getgo but should I find an issue with leaking too much juice can limiting the amount of juice help? I would hate to screw it up and ruin one...not handy guy am I!!:(

Scotty, I know they are not on the site but based on the above do you have plugs for the mini 801/901 carts? I have a bunch of these from TW as well, and have been hoping for plugs for this style. If you have some on but are not listed, PM me I would love to pick some up. the 901's have been working great for me!!!

So I've been using the SCOTTYBALLS plugs for a couple months now and didn't really think to post about them until just now.

Before using these plugs I used a variation i guess of the RSP mod, which my wife still prefers. So I already had straws cut in my carts. When I got the SCOTTYBALLS plugs I just plopped them onto the previously mentioned straws of 2 carts I use for 2 different flavors I vape.

It seems so obvious now, but 1 of the carts leaked profusely and the other worked magnificently.

The problem was that one of the straws was cut at a slight angle, which was the one that leaked. My "idiot's guide" type advice to someone having problems is to keep experimenting with straw lengths as mentioned, but to also make sure your straw is cut flat to give the plug an even shelf to rest on!

Also, I found that either my plugs vary or my carts do. What I mean is, in one of my carts a plug sat in a position kind of like a U, sort of concave like a contact lens. This plug was very annoying to position in the cart that way and takes a lot of finesse. However, my other cart had a plug which fit perfectly into the hole having just enough pressure to keep it in place; air tight.

Anyways hope this somewhat helps someone out there. :pervy:

Good to know. I hope my original post did'nt come across as a complaint cause I just order mine today. So I have nothing to complain about...I just read others that had leakage issues and I'm trying to get as much info before they arrive.;)

Honestly, your original post had nothing to do with my thought process. I just felt like posting for some odd reason. :D

But looking back at your original post now, I've found it's best to just fill the straw with juice right up to the top, or maybe a hair below. It's not necessary to under-fill it, but make sure not to over-fill it or leakage may commence. 8-o

It's really easy to see when to stop though, unless you're watching a movie and re-filling at the same time... like I did yesterday. I squeezed juice out well above the straw, but used an easy method to fix it; held my bottle upright and pinched some air out, stuck the nose into the overly filled cart and released. The suction will pull out the extra juice and voila! Juice dilemma solved. :) Once again, sorry for my "idiot's guide to vaping" type advice.

i just tried this mod yesterday, and got rather lucky since i only ruined 1 cap before i somehow got the perfect fit. i used the * as my opening, filled my straw up, placed the plug on and attached it to my atty. i held a paper towel underneath my 510 because i was sure it was going to leak, but surprisingly it didn't!

i have to say that i really love this mod! so far, i've only got it on one cart since i'm running low on caps and i don't know if i'll get that perfect fit again. i will definitely keep on experimenting!
