There are some protective iphone cases made of silicone. Do you guys reckon we could buy those and use it for this mod? It is silicone afterall right? It would be a bit soft and flexible though....I'd love to give this a try unless someone beats me to it ;)

For this mod (which I am currently using in two 510 carts), I am using material from a heat rated silicone spatula that I bought for $1.50 at a Family Dollar Store.

I had to cut the material in half (thickness wise) but the halves are very flexible, but not so much. My precision cutting is not that good, so the original ZFM plug didn't work well for me, but I found that if I had a longer strip of silicone, and created an arch out of it with a hole in the center, it fits great in my 510 whistletip carts. It didn't take long to get it right....

One thing I am noticing though, is that as I remove it to refill, it is getting thinner (because the arch has turned into more of a tri-fold bridge) This isn't from heating, it is from bending it to get it into the cart repeatedly. You know how you work something back and forth and the crease gets thinner and thinner...but hey, these things have been going like gangbusters for a few weeks now...

I guess my point was don't spend the money on the silicone iphone case, there are much less expensive ways to get the cured silicone.

Just made an interesting observation.. although I haven't acted on it yet.

Sneak down to the kitchen when the wife isn't looking. Find the 32oz squeeze bottle of Heinz ketchup (the newer style with the self-sealing nozzle). Take the cap off, wash the ketchup away.. and look at the "self sealing" mechanism.

Look familiar?? ;-)

it's patented.
The design is in 3 pieces.
I am tooling it now as we speak...
By the way...
although silicone may be a wise choice because of it's high melting point. Silicone can only be blow molded.
You can now see the complication ...you cannot make it out of silicone.
These carts will be available soon.
These and a new PV, and new atomizers are patent pending since last year October.

Do it all the time...
It's actually not the cost of filing the patent that is expensive, it's the cost of amending them that can add up.
I have never seen a patent examiner grant a patent right off the bat.
You also need to think that the patent pending status lasts for 2~3 years now since they are so far behind schedule.
Patents, in my opinion are not a valid tool to protect your invention, but they are useful if some other party holding intellectual property on a similar invention decides to sue you.
The other area where a patent is useful is if you want to license your technology to a company.
anyway, that is my 2 cents worth ...

If the atty is in the right position the bridge will block the hole..

My biggest issue is the hole being too big (leaks) or too small (dry atty). Out of 6 tries, I have one that has been working just perfect. Now, if I could only remember what juju I used, I will be good to go.
