After reading that we can use zippo wick for attys, I went out got myself 1pc, removed the cotton portion of it. I decided to test whether are they the same by burning it with a lighter. Lo and behold the thing melts and crumbles when u touch it when cooled.

My concern is whether these thing are safe for usage. I've burnt the wicks in our attys before but they dun melt and crumble they are restored to their shiny appearance and the fibres does not stick together.

Anyone got any advice?

Not sure how you've melt it but mine doesn't when burnt at high temp. They won't even become brown like stock wicks. Just make sure they are genuine zippo wicks.

The one I bought looks pretty legit to me. Unless there are different grades. I used a butane lighter on them.
