First time wicking coils (help needed)

A Spaced Clapton (what you built) is in it's own class of Wire. Many say'n that is Better than a Regular Clapton.

With some builders doing a 2 Wire Wrap around the Core with the Drill in Forward. Then putting the Drill into reverse to Remove 1 of the Wrap Wires.

Leaving them with what you did. That, and a Small pile of Wire (the 2nd Wire) to throw away.
This one is considered spaced?

Are store bought ones different? What do you mean by regular Clapton? Thx.

Some people will tell you that heating till it is Cherry Red and then letting it Air Cool (Annealing) can held. But 316L's has a relatively Small Hardness Range due to it's Low Carbon content. And I don't think Kanthal A1 is or can get very hard and Springy.

As you noticed, Keeping everything under Tension is a Good Call.

Check out this Dude and how he keeps Constant Tension on the Core as well as the Wrap.

He also has a Dozen or so "Advanced" video's for all kinds of Wire Porn.
Thought about that before but I don't have swivels unfortunately. One day maybe I'll get a setup like this but for now I'm afraid I'll have to stick to my little DIY setup.

Good evening, hitt.:) Sorry your work is so slow.

We have 1 more day in the 90's the weather says. Then 2 cooler days before it starts heating up again.
I don’t believe the forecast. It said it was 91 for a high. It was way hotter than that when I left work.
