Unless it has changed since I took the compounded one, this is my experience:My primary care said it was for the autoiinjectable pens, and I could get them through Good RX or she would write me a script. Perry does the injection, and it is nothing. His insurance pays 100% of his. I suppose if my doctor got in touch with my insurance, it might also be covered. It is $1395 at Sam's Pharmacy if he did not have insurance. Sheesh! That's crazy.
1. Even though my Dr. wrote a prescription, ins wouldn't cover it unless I was diabetic.
2. I took the compounded one for 6 months and it did absolutely nothing, even though I continued on a low carb diet where I had already lost 50 pounds. I think it actually worked in reverse for me. I saw no advantage at all, unfortunately.
3. I may be wrong but I think Good RX only covers the compounded one.
I hope the price comes down for the real stuff but I haven't heard about that happening. I know diet matters, I have a friend who has been on Noom for about a year without too much success. She is vegan and I think that makes a difference.
Please let me know if you have new information.

Hope all is well with you
