Things to be looking for in beginning
Mtl kits, pod kits are great I always look for one where pods of more frequent to purchase whether that's online or offline,
Start a kits like the aspire ones with the Nautilus coils as these coils have been about for such a long time,
Perhaps look for pod kits that take a combination of different types of pods or pods/w/coils
What you need to be asking is how much your friend is smoking a day before you can ascertain what mg level to use...
In the UK 20 milligrams is the highest you get in an e liquid, therefore to me personally I don't see how anybody can be used in any more than 30 milligrams for a very heavy smoker, in fact I DIY a 30 milligram for my dad who is a 100+ gram plus a week tobacco smoker
Other things to think about is when does your friends smoke the most these be like habits for example: does the individual have points of day where smoke more ie first thing in morning before consumption of food and drink, or has smoking replaced key times of day where meals are recommended like breakfast or lunch. (Coffee and cigarettes were my lunch and breakfast), WHAT KIND OF BRAND OR CIGARETTE OR CIGAR OR TOBACCO does your friend use. If you're local shops is a stop smoking cessation specialists they should be able to help using question and similar to this
Another factor is you want to get a high ISH ohm pod/coil I'd roughly say between 1.2 -0.8
The Pg VG levels on the liquids need to be 50/50 or higher Pg to suit lower powered vaping style (mtl- mouth to lung vaping... Higher VG would be generally too thick to heat properly.
My personal recommendation is look for strong fruit menthols , tobaccos perhaps coffees ... Something that be relatable to current habits . My first liquid was a Columbian coffee 18mg & 16mg freebase the throat hit is just as effective as nicotine content itself
Salt liquids globally can come quite high level, perhaps using these diagrams may help to customise your own vaping experience,
Don't be afraid to use multiple pods with multiple nic levels for example I use: 12mg freebase when I feel cravings the most or whilst I'm most stressed. Or 6mg or 3mg when I'm steady level mentally or just chain vaping

Ie commonly especially with disposable products you will find 2% 3% 5% if you are outside of the UK

Note: not everybody succeeds with flavored eliquids, most tobacco eliquids are synthetic, HOWEVER another thing to possibly look out for which I found worked especially what well with cigarello or cigar smokers. Is "NATURALLY EXTRACTED TOBACCO AKA N.E.T" Which are tobacco eliquids extracted from the plant themselves
Believer or not these come in a wide variety of tobacco's and are very similar to smoking tobacco. One of my favourites was one called, havana by company called drakes, it was much like in smoking a cigar itself without the fire
I know it's a lot of information and I'm pretty sure it might give you a headache reading it, but vaping is supposed to be personal, in my opinion there is no one hit wonder especially if you're trying to quit cigarettes, it's mostly an educated guideline on what works for you (or your friend in this case)
