Smok Arcfox - Being Weird When It Comes To Resistance...

I swore I'd never buy another Smok product, after the Mag P3 crapped out on me after 6 months and all the 'supposed IP-65' rated rubber coating all fell off...

But then I fell for it again, by purchasing the Arcfox. Only because I was desperate for a quick replacement for my Geekvape Aegis that died. And, surprisingly, the Arcfox has turned out to be a reasonably respectable device (at least it has survived 12 months without signing off). It's done better than the Aegis, at least.

But, it has a peculiar problem, when it comes to reading resistance...

Sometimes, suddenly and without warning, the Arcfox decides for itself that the resistance of my coil is something entirely different to what it actually is. So I'm vaping away, on a 0.39-.40 coil - and suddenly, for no reason at all, the Arcfox decides that it's going to pretend my coil is like: 0.70 or something. No coil I've ever made reads such an idiotic number. And that coil definitely ISN'T. I have to take the batteries out, reset the system and then it goes back to the 0.39 Ohms that it should be.

Not to mention, if I'm not aware and don't bail in time - it hits like it's trying to kill me! It's like inhaling the smoke from a burning cotton plantation.

Now the other thing that bothers me, is the Arcfox has a variable resistance setting. Really? Seriously, I've been vaping for nearly 20 years, and I have NEVER known resistance to be a variable that you just dial in! ! As far as I'm aware, that's not how it works. So what on earth were they thinking?

I asked the guy at my local B&M where I bought it: "The f... is THIS all about?!" He just shrugged and said "I have no idea. Never seen that before in my life."

I wouldn't mind - but then, it's kinda hard to take when your best vaping buddy decides to disagree with the actual resistance of your coil - and then launches a nuclear assault on your lungs, just for fun. Have I missed a product recall or something?

I swear this thing hates me. I sometimes think it's trying to assassinate me. I'm surprised I haven't thrown it across the room.

Other than that... it's been fine (I say with a wry grin).

Thoughts...?
my arc fox died yesterday after being my steadfast companion over 5 years,... just saying.

Random DIY mixing and More

Good evening random folks. I had a busy day. We visited 3 basilica today, entering through the Holy doors that are only opened in a Jubilee year, every 25 years. Since we entered through the holy door of St. Peter's yesterday, we entered all 4 doors of the main basilicas, leading to the earning of a plenary indulgence in the Catholic Church, as long as other criteria were also met, which i have met. I'm not gonna explain what a plenary indulgence is here, as its too complicated, but its a big deal. We fly home in the morning.
Good afternoon, Terri.:) Have a safe trip home

Lounge Lizards / Misfits / Free Thinkers / Bohemians & the Forgotten :: Young at Heart Only

I'm so excited. All summer I've been thinking about getting our deck power washed, sanded and painted and the lattice around the bottom replaced. My neighbor just gave me the name of a guy so I called him and he came out yesterday to look over the work to be done. He can start the job on Monday!! Woohoo! I really didn't think it was wise to wait until after the winter. I can check that off my list of projects to worry about.

@Rat2chat2 The stores put out Christmas stuff about the same time the Halloween stuff was put on the shelves.. I think that is ridiculous, but what do I know?

A woman I worked with told me one year just after Halloween that she was done her Christmas shopping! Maybe she was only buying for 1-2 people? We really only buy for the grandkids and have one pollyanna with the adults - and sometimes that's a donation to their favorite charity instead of a gift. Still, I can't imagine being done shopping that early. Of course we have 5 birthdays in Nov. and Dec. so that complicates things, but still. I don't even want to think about Christmas yet.
