Choice of flavor companies offered by online seller - Are some better than others?

I was just looking at Bull City again and noticed a big choice of flavor concentrates. For example Black Cherry can be ordered FA, FLV, FW, NF, and TFA - Are some of these companies known for better quality flavor? Which are considered best?
And about how many drops of liquid per 30ml would you use for a not too strong favor?

Besides Bull City, any other companies recommended for flavors? I was also looking at
Vapor Vapes who sell flavors - anyone ever use them?

- THANKS!

Here I am again, stuck in the middle with you!

What would one of my wonderful posts be without some music to listen to?

You guys have been so helpful to me in the past, ever since JC dieded (I had their Vea) -- thank you so much!

Well, you were so awesome setting me up with the Geek Vape Flint but alas, when I went back to re-up on their kit (the glass neck cracked), I couldn't find it for sale.

So, yes, I guess I made the mistake of buying the Mero; I say it was a mistake because now when I go back to buy coils (only one coil was included and it popped on me on the second day), alas I am unable and the Mero kit page returns 404.

So here I am stuck again! Let's sing it!! :D

I am willing to re-up with any basic kit really, I don't like fancy anything (no box kits etc. & I vape 99% of the time at home in front of my comp) but I am totally clueless where the "right" place is to go; I mean everyone has their personal preferences and I have always found your advice so helpful!

Whomever wishes to vent their personal favorites, with their eye on my preferences for BASIC, would always have my appreciation!

Now I must depart but can I leave without serenading you once again?

Nope! :D

Mixing 3mg freebase liquid to achieve throat hit

Hi,

I recently bought the original caliburn to get away from alt. As pods are getting expensive. I used 4% (or 40mg Nic salt)

I bought 2 x 100 ml 3mg freebase liquids but there is absolutely no hit.

I am wanting the same effect as the alt. pods so just wondering what to buy to mix with the 3mg liquids to get a more satisfying hit.

Thank you :)

Uwell Caliburn A2 Kit - Review

Hi ECF members, In this review I take a look at the Caliburn A2 Kit from Uwell. The Uwell Caliburn A2 Kit was supplied for the purpose of this review by Sourcemore.

Uwell Caliburn A2 Kit 15W 520mAh Pod System Kit

NJDe55i.png

Introduction

Uwell were best known for their Crown tanks until a simple pod system called the Caliburn came along which grabbed peoples attention for both the draw and vape quality from such a small device. Since then we have had the brand name milked somewhat although those products bearing the Caliburn name in general have been rated highly but here we see the update version of the original, the A2!

With a much better viewing window, improved clear pod and lower ohm higher output pod Uwell fight back against the Caliburn like devices we have seen over the last couple of years some of which in my opinion surpassed it.

Unfortunately we see no improvement in battery capacity, still a fixed airflow and the coils are not replaceable so let's see if the A2 offers a notable upgrade or just more of the same?

Aesthetics and Ergonomics

The Caliburn A2 came in opened lid cardboard box packaging with outer cardboard sleeve, we have a Black & White image of the device on the cover and contents etc on the reverse. The device is made of Aluminium Alloy and is lightweight, it is also a much more curvy and streamline design compared to the straight angles we saw on the original, it's very comfortable in the hand to both just hold or fire using the large, flush, circular fire button positioned a third of the way down on the face of the device. I received the Iris Purple colour, the options are Black, Grey, Green, Blue, Orange or Iris Purple.

On the face of the device above the fire button we have a large viewing window and it's really nice to see working in tandem with the clear pod it's very fit for purpose unlike so many on these small pod devices including the original! towards the bottom centrally on the vertical we have "CALIBURN" printed followed again centrally in a vertical position the LED indicator. On either side of the device we have a small airflow hole towards the top and apart from at the bottom having "UWELL" printed the back of the device is featureless.

On the base we have a plastic section with safety marks and central Type C USB port, moving up top the Black sloped MTL friendly mouthpiece protrudes!

What You Receive?

You receive the Caliburn A2 with UN2 Meshed-H 0.9ohm pod already pre-installed but protected by a film layer over the pods contacts. Of course you receive all the usual paperwork and also a spare identical pod. You don't receive a Type C cable though which as this is the sought of device that could well get recommended to a new vaper I find a massive con as they will probably not have one!

wkq3GtY.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

The Pods

Normally for pod devices I do sections for both the pod and coils but here we have non replaceable coils like with the original and in my opinion a con, I would much prefer to just replace the coil rather than the whole pod, the flip side to that though these pods with sealed coils don't tend to leak or produce the same levels of condensation!

gOO44iz.jpg

The installed coil is the FeCrAI UN2 Meshed-H 0.9ohm which incorporates Uwell's Pro-Focs technology, both included pods are identical and as far as I can find out is the only option available! Note: Original Caliburn pods do not fit and A2 pods will not fit the original!

I5cL3LJ.jpg

The pod holds 2ml of e-liquid and the pod liquid holding section is completely clear which is a big pro. The comfortable, sloped MTL mouthpiece just needs pushing from the front towards the rear to click off the pod revealing its filling method. To one side we have a decent sized port with self sealing Red membrane, we also have a tiny hole the opposite side which will not let liquid out but let's air escape while filling! What I do like is the mouthpiece can be removed and pod filled without removing the pod from the device!

OoAKh73.jpg

Moving to the base of the pod we have the 2 contacts and a magnet either side, we also have 2 outlets to the auto draw membrane switch so it doesn't matter which way around the pod is inserted.

bjf4BHH.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

Fitting The Pod

Looking inside the pods bay we can see the central Gold plated, spring loaded contacts and a magnet to each side. The pod simply gets pushed into the bay and is held in place by the strong magnetic connection, it is also a snug fit so we get no movement whatsoever!

VP5CbjL.jpg

UJD9Z9I.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

Operating The Device

The device is the usual 5 quick clicks of the fire button to turn on and off with either action being confirmed by 3 Green flashes of the LED indicator. Once on you can just take a draw or use the fire button as this has both button and auto draw activation.

2eQpBr2.jpg

Whichever method you use to vape (button or auto draw) the LED lights up to show the current charge of the battery while vaping, the colour of the LED corresponds to the following:

Green = Over 60% charge
Blue = 30% to 60% charge
Red = Less than 30% charge

b6dDJPH.jpg

When the battery is depleted the LED indicator flashes 10 times and you can't vape!

It does say this gives 15w of power and according to the manual it gives out a constant voltage output but fails to say what that output is. My math makes it 3.7v to give 15w with the 0.9ohm coil but with simple small devices like this they only tend to give any constant output while the battery allows as they don't have any form of boost so 3.7v pretty much equates for the most part to this being a direct output device. After saying that I just didn't notice any drop off in power which seemed consistent throughout the battery life so if anyone knows more specific information their comments are very welcome!

_________________________________________________________________________

Protections and Indications:

Short Circuit Protection 3 Red Flashes
Low Voltage Protection 10 Red Flashes
Timeout Protection 8s 5 Green Flashes
Open Circuit Prompt 3 Blue Flashes

ceQov2X.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

Charging

As mentioned no cable is provided which for me is a con as this device is one that would be suitable for a newer vaper who probably doesn't have a cable!

While charging the LED slowly pulses a colour to indicate the charge on the battery so first it pulses Red until it reaches 30% and then pulses Blue until it reaches 60% and finally pulses Green until fully charged, once fully charged we have a solid Green light.

The charge rate is 1A (max) averaging about 0.8A and is 90% charged in just 35 minutes, it takes 50 minutes to fully charge which is very good!, It also supports pass-through vaping!

mMgnxqg.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

My Thoughts!

Compared to the original Caliburn the A2 gives a slightly looser draw so very loose MTL and I could even do a very restricted Direct lung but whether you prefer it to the original will be whether it falls into your wheelhouse or not. I personally like it and it also gives noticeably more power, vapour production and excellent flavour, it is also a warmer vape!

Where there can be no doubts about the improvement is the pod and viewing window, visibility of the liquid level is very good and being able to fill quickly while not removing from the device are massive pros!

The auto draw gives exactly the same performance as using the fire button and battery indication gives some idea of battery status apart from I found when the LED first started lighting Red which meant there should be almost 30% charge still left only about 10 puffs later we have full battery depletion which doesn't equate to anything like 30%? Also one of the cons many had with the original Caliburn was the 520mAh battery, the A2 see's no improvement in fact with the 0.9ohm coil compared to the original's 1.4ohm giving out more power battery life is very poor! On the up side the device will 90% charge in just 35 minutes while supporting pass-through and is fully charged in just 50 minutes.

I like the ergonomic rounded form factor, flush large button which gives a quiet but definite click and as mentioned for such a small pod system it gives a smooth powerful vape with bags of flavour, I also suffered no leaking or condensation during testing which is quite often the case with fixed coils but I still find it a con I can't just change the coil rather than entire pod, I would also prefer other coil options. My last con is no adjustable airflow although these simple pod devices tend to not have, I did try putting my finger over one of the holes but it made very little difference while putting fingers over both holes did give a tighter draw but made the airflow turbulent!

To sum up if the draw falls into your wheelhouse you will love this but with just one coil option and no adjustable airflow it will not be to everyone's liking. Whether it is an improvement over the original, all things considered I would say yes!

Got back into building, need help!

Hey, I used to vape years ago and took a break for a few years, I used mech mods and would build my own coils and make these fancy twisted coils and would experiment and build different types of coils, I would even patina a decorate some of my copper mech mods too! I enjoyed the hands-on craft of this hobby.

I would like to get back into this hobby and focus on building coils and chasing big clouds! It's just that after having not been in the vape world for a few years things sure seem pretty different from what I remember, back then everyone had mech mods and the building coils was just part of it, now you can buy pre-made coils and the prices of some these mech mods have shot through the roof!

I need help in understanding what equipment is ideal for my needs, I assume to building crazy coils and chase clouds you would have to use a mechanical mod? or can this be done with these new regulated box mods?

I recently walked into a smoke shop and bought some stuff without much research and the guy at the store didn't know much either, so I just bought some stuff that looked right lol!

I bought:
Lost Vape Quest Grus 100w MOD
Wotofo Atty3 RDA
and some SS316l wire in 28g
and a 18650 battery in a white wrap that says "energy" in blue on it, not sure if this is real or a knockoff

I wrapped a single coil and did about 13 wraps on a 2mm rod and it came out to 1.1ohm, I installed it and it worked but I only got about two or three small hits before the battery got low and I would have to charge it, the battery only lasted about 20-30mintues after charging overnight, the vapor from the first hit was also pretty disappointing too.

Definitely not the clouds I was used too :(

Anyways I'm wondering if you guys can help steer me in the right direction and let me know what I'm doing wrong and also what equipment I should I buy for my needs, I'm planning on buying everything new again so if the equipment I listed above cant be used then that's fine. Not sure if I should jump back into mech mods or maybe there is a new way to do things now!

thanks!

Bench Test Results: Epoch 30P - 15A 3000mAh 18650…decent performer at a lower price

These tests below only note my personal ESTIMATED ratings for the batteries I tested at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, or Sanyo can change at any time! This is one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of property damage, personal injury, or even death. They are not supposed to be used outside of a fully protected battery pack and you use them at your own risk. Never exceed the battery’s true continuous current rating and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition.

Testing batteries at their limits is dangerous and should never be attempted by anyone who has not thoroughly studied the dangers involved, understands the risks, has the proper equipment, and takes all appropriate safety precautions.

If the battery has only one current rating number, or if it only says "max", then I have to assume the battery is rated at that current level for any type of discharge, including continuous.

Test Results
This cell appears to be accurately rated and is a decent performer that should be available at a lower price. It doesn’t perform quite as well as the Samsung 30Q but where cost is the priority, and as 30Q’s become harder to find, this could be a good cell to consider using.

The two cells I tested delivered 2999mAh and 3002mAh. This is fantastic consistency for a cell from one of the large, established China factories. Both cells tested essentially at their 3000mAh capacity rating but like the cells from the bigger manufacturers I prefer to see the typical capacity delivered by a cell be decently higher than its rating. This is a true 3000mAh cell though.

Two cells were donated for testing by 18650BatteryStore (18650 Battery Store - Lithium Ion Batteries, Chargers and Accessories). Thank you!

HELLVAPE AREZ 120 REVIEWED BY BIGBOB2322

Hello again and welcome to today's review of the AREZ 120 Mod from Hellvape. The AREZ 120 Mod was provided to me from Healthcabin and can be purchased from them using this link Hellvape AREZ 120 Box Mod. The AREZ 120 as you probably guessed has a maximum wattage output of 120 watts when using a 21700 battery, you also have the option of using a 20700 battery that outputs a maximum of 100 watts and finally a 18650 battery using the provided adapter that will output a maximum of 80 watts. This is a very simple to use device being a wattage only one and has only 4 button combinations to remember, now that you know the basics of the device lets delve in for a closer look at the features of the AREZ 120 MOD.

UNBOXING AND FIRST IMPRESSIONS

I was very impressed with the appearance of the AREZ 120 upon opening the package, I was sent the blackish green color and didn't expect it to look as nice as it does. It's color matching buttons really blend into the device and the little bump out at the top above the fire button makes a nice fit if thumb firing. Included in the box is the charge cord, user manual, warranty card and 18650 battery adapter.

20210909_141831.jpg

Using a screw-on type of battery cap as many devices do the cap threads were a bit noisy and crunchy for the first few times of screwing on/off but that went away very shortly. Testing all 3 types of batteries I had no movement of them inside the device when it was shaken. Having a type-c charge port is a big plus unfortunately the charge port is on the bottom next to the battery cap.

When a battery is first installed the device will ask what size battery is being used, using the adjustment buttons move to the battery display of the battery your using and press the fire button to confirm your choice and the device will power on.

Battery polarity is clearly marked on the battery cap itself with a minus symbol but no markings for positive are inside the battery tube. 4 ventilation holes are present on the cap in case a problem occurs with the battery. The Made In China placement location is a real eyesore for the device as you will see later on in pictures, I always thought something was stuck on the bottom of the device when first testing it out because of it peeking out.

The top plate of the device is silver in color with 3 screws attaching it that surround the 510, this was a missed opportunity to really make the device match well with atomizers, it works with most but if the top plate was the same color as the device it would look even better. The device is resting on the included 18650 adapter. A 25mm atomizer fits perfect, you may get away with a 26mm with some overhang.

On each side of the device is a line that has been milled into the device that runs from top to bottom, I find no real function for them other than giving the device a accented appearance that looks good on it. My pictures really don't show how beautiful the color of my green one is.

AREZ is only shown on the bottom portion of the spine in white, placement branding of the AREZ in this location works well for the device. I'm sure that you noticed by now all corners are rounded making it very comfortable to hold.

The front face of the device has your control buttons with 100% color matching with the mod, the oblong shaped fire button works well being clicky but not very noticeable, the adjustment buttons clickyness on the other hand are.

As earlier mentioned a 25mm atomizer looks the best on this device but even a 24mm works as well, there is a very slight gap between the atomizer and the top plate on all atomizers that I have tried on the mod. Notice the bottom of the mod looks like something is stuck to it, that's the Made In China marking I spoke of earlier.

The color display screen is bright and vivid with easy to read fonts along with all the information you need. I wish it had battery % because there is room for it on the screen.

DISPLAY LAYOUT

* Puff Counter

* Battery Bar

One thing that I want to mention is that because the adjustment buttons are right above the display screen you should make adjustments pressing them from the sides of the device so you don't block the display screen.

The device adjust in .5 increments from 5-10w after that it adjusts in 1 watt increments which may bother some MTL vapers that use 1/2 watt increments over 10w. The round robin feature is on the AREZ, this is a reasonably fast scroller as well.

There is no menu on the Arez and only 4 button combinations to remember.

* On/Off - 5 presses of the fire button

* Clearing Puff Counter - Press the fire and down button simultaneously

* Wattage Lock/Unlock - Press the fire and up button simultaneously

* Background Color Change - Press the up and down buttons simultaneously

PROS

* ATTRACTIVE

* LIGHTWEIGHT

* 3 BATTERY OPTIONS

* 7 BACKGROUND COLORS TO CHOOSE FROM

* ROUND ROBIN

* TYPE-C

* SCROLLS FAST

* BRIGHT AND VIVID DISPLAY

CONS

* 1/2 SECOND DELAY WHEN COLD FIRING

* WHEN USING ADJUSTMENT BUTTONS SCREEN IS BLOCKED

* LOCATION OF MADE IN CHINA MARKING

USING THE AREZ 120

First off I will say my pictures don't do justice to the beauty of the AREZ 120 and having a choice of 3 types of battery is a big plus but I strongly encourage you to take advantage of the 21700 battery for more vaping time between changes or charges.

Hand fit is great using either thumb or finger to fire the device, in my cons I mention the location of the adjustment buttons blocking the screen when used like you normally would, but pressing them from the sides of the device is no real issue for me I just wanted to mention it.

Now what is a issue for me is the delay in firing, 1/2 to 1 second of a delay when firing the mod cold. After the first vape when the coil has been heated up it fires instantly but only after the coil becomes heated up first.

I thought it was happening only with low builds but just to make sure I put a build of 1.6 on a MTL tank and the same thing happens firing at 16 watts.

I tried 3 different atomizers all of which had the same results, I let the coils cool down for 5 minutes and tried them on different mods and all fired instantly without needing a pre-heat tap of the fire button.

After that first vape with all 3 tanks everything worked fine as long as the coils remained warm, once cooled the 1 second delay happened again on all of them. After the first 3 days of testing I just resolved to tapping the fire button once before a vape if the device sat or wasn't used for a bit.

The device reads coils accurately and functions perfectly after your first vape or the fire button is tapped to warm the coil, that's all it takes just a small tap and your golden

So in closing, it might be annoying for some like myself to have to tap the fire button because so many devices have instant fire capabilities but I did get used to it quickly. A 1/2 to 1 second delay may not bother you.

I would like to thank Sue and Healthcabin for providing the Hellvape AREZ 120 for the purpose of this review, I also hope this review answered your questions about it.

THANK YOU

Mesh RTA that will wick 100%VG?

Hello, for about 5 years now I have been running a Digiflavor Mesh pro rebuild-able dripper, 10MM wide stainless steel mesh at 0.15 ohm, I run 100% VG unflavored, make it at home for cheap. love everything about it except for dripping, dripping is annoying especially when driving. I drip because last time I was at this choice wicking 100% vg from a tank was unreliable.

Has that changed? recommendations for a tank that will wick 100% vg? bonus if it will take the 10mm stainless I have rolls of, or if I can at least get stainless mesh for it?
