Replacement for Breeze NXT

Hi All,

It's been years since I logged into the forum.

I've been happy with the Aspire Breeze series for years. The Breeze NXT perfect for me. It's small with a decent battery life relative to my use case. I vape unflavored salts mixed with PG and the coil lasts me for months. I'm not a fan of the big mods that blow tons of vape as I vape incognito.

The Breeze NXT has been discontinued. What's a good replacement for it?

Thanks!

Cleaning Supplies

I'm having trouble find quality cleaning supplies for my vape mods. Looking inside there always seems to be a bit of crud in the mouthpiece and the only one I've been able to get has some serious warnings on the solution bottle. A local vape shop suggested alcohol and a pipe cleaner?? Was in the hospital with pneumonia in May which of course the doctors blamed on vaping. Argued with them and eventually they sheepishly came back and said it was a bacterial infection. As an aside, got busted sneaking a vape draw or two in the hospital, but that's a different story for another time. I think it (the pneumonia) may have been caused by the face diapers we've been wearing as I never washed my cotton one. But, it also seems like a good idea to clean out your vape mode. Personally I leave mine in my pocket when walking around and who know what stuff goes down the mouthpiece. Anyway, if any knows of a good cleaning kit let me know or if one of the manufacturers comes up with one it'd would probably be a good idea.

GeekVape Obelisk 120 FC Mod - Review

Hi ECF members, In this review i take a look at the Obelisk 120 FC Mod from Geekvape. The GeekVape Obelisk 120 FC Mod was supplied free of charge for the purpose of this review by Sourcemore.

GeekVape Obelisk 120 FC Mod 120W 3700mAh Vape Mod

DOR0MBe.png

Introduction

Geekvape have been on the block for a long time but over the last 3 years have been known for their multiple Aegis devices and Zeus atomizers with most other products released under the Digiflavor brand.

Bearing that in mind it's nice to see a complete new range of devices that are not IP67 and don't bare the Aegis name, don't get me wrong quite rightfully the Aegis devices with their IP67 rating are popular it's just nice that they are now manufacturing an alternative range as i am sure most don't want every device they own to look like a tank going into battle!

The Obelisks keeps the familiar display and user interface but aesthetically it's an all new look and here the 120FC version that i am looking at offers 65W PD Fast Charging capabilities allowing the 3700mAh internal battery to be charged in just 15 minutes! We also have OTG mode which allows the device to become a power bank! The Obelisk 120FC also has all the usual modes, Power, TC-SS, TC-TCR, VPC (power curve) and Bypass.

The 120FC is available as just the device (what i received), in kit form and with or without the 65W PD Fast Charger which makes sense as some people might have an adaptor already with the correct specifications! Less of my waffle and let's crack on!

Aesthetics and Ergonomics

The Obelisk 120FC came in the usual Geekvape style of cardboard box packaging with outer cardboard sleeve with raised picture of the device in the chosen colour on the front and specs etc on the reverse. I received the Blue version, the options are Silver, Blue, Gunmetal or Black.

Either side we have a large rectangular panel which is made from 4 layers with the final top layer giving a mirrored look, it sounds similar to the IML process apart from on this i have noticed both fine scratches can appear and fingerprints, on the vertical towards the front at the top on each mirrored panel we have "geek vape" with a mirrored Silver finish!

Unlike on the Aegis the front panel is curved and instead of a light switch style fire button we have an horizontally positioned rectangular fire button which protrudes nicely and is both mushy and clicky. Below we have the screen followed by the horizontally positioned navigational rocker which again protrudes nicely and has the same mushy and clicky feel as i found with the fire button, finally below the rocker we have the Obelisk logo.

The spine is curved with spaced vertical corrugations and moving to the base we have safety stamps and branding. Moving up top we have Stainless Steel with a brushed finish rather than a plate and the threading is directly machined into the Stainless Steel top, the brushed finish will help hide any scratches caused by attaching atomizers, the 510m is Gold plated and Spring loaded.

The device is comfortable in the hand and with it's Aluminium construction is much lighter than i expected, build quality is good but i have got my suspicions the paint finish possibly will not stand up to much wear and tear, just a hunch it just reminds me a bit of a Smok paint job from a few years ago, I might be wrong and hopefully I am!

Display

The display is very bright and sharp as well as being very familiar if you have some of the Aegis devices that tend to use the same display and menu system. Everything is lined up vertically so up top we have the mode, then underneath the battery status bar followed by either wattage, temp or voltage depending which mode you are in.

In the lower section we first have resistance followed by amps, then voltage and finally the puff count which shows vape duration while firing!

uGymmV8.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

Operating The Device

The Obelisk 120FC is the usual 5 clicks of the fire button to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off, once on holding both + and - sides of the rocker at the same time locks the navigational rocker but the device will still fire. The brightness percentage of the display can also be adjusted by either pressing fire and left together to decrease or fire and right to increase!

3 clicks of the fire button highlights the mode which can then be changed by using the navigational rocker, the modes are Power, TC-SS, TC-TCR, VPC (power curve), Bypass and OTG.

When the mode can be changed via the navigational rocker a press of the fire button will take you to any item on the screen which can be altered in turn so for example when the screen is on power but still highlighted then a press of the fire button will highlight Puffs and pressing - will reset them, when TC-SS is highlighted for example it works the same way and you have options to resample and lock resistance. Also when a mode is highlighted pressing both sides of the navigational rocker now instead of locking changes the colour of the accents on the display, each press changes them to a new colour, the options are Orange, Yellow, Blue, Light Green or Purple!

370sTVp.jpg

When VPC (power curve) is highlighted each press of the fire button allows the next section of the curve to be altered using the navigational buttons and when finished holding fire for 2 seconds sets the curve!

On the normal working screens the wattage can be adjusted from 5w to 120w in 0.5w increments with single presses or 1w increments with an adjustment button held down, it scrolls quickly and round robins. Again in TC the temp round robins between Celsius and Fahrenheit with Celsius adjusting in 1 degree increments while Fahrenheit adjusts in 5 degree increments. The final mode is OTG which will be explained in the next section! That's it although the Obelisk has the fast charging capabilities and we find added to the menu system OTG mode it's identical to most Aegis devices in both look and operation!

sm6cK4T.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

OTG Mode

OTG Mode essentially turns your device into a Power Bank so you can use it to charge other devices. Handy if you have plenty of charge on your device but something else you have on you is running low on charge, of course it will need a Type C USB connection port also!

99AC9yR.png

So 3 clicks of the fire button to highlight mode and then press the right side of the rocker until you get to the OTG mode then select, plug in the cable between the device and what needs charging! When in OTG mode It charges other devices up to 2.4A max!

JdQQSdl.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

Charging

The device has type C USB and a normal charging rate of 2A so even if not charging with the available Fast charge adaptor or alternative power breaker adaptor with the specifications needed this still charges in about 1hour 45mins which is quick compared to most devices. The main feature of this device however and what the "FC" stands for is it's "Fast Charging" capabilities when used with the 65W PD fast charger which will charge the device using 20V/3.25A rate in just 15 mins!

The adaptor is included with some versions as mentioned earlier but is also available as a separate purchase! I received the mod only from Sourcemore so the device linked does not come with the fast charging adaptor but luckily Geekvape sent me one so i could still test the fast charging capabilities!

Using with the Fast Charge Adaptor

Plug one end of the USB connector into the wall adaptor and plug into the wall socket and the other into the Obelisk 120FC. The device will detect that 65W PD Fast Charging (20V/3.25A) is available and will display the fast charging screen which does look a little different and it gives a good idea of just how quick the charge rate is as the percentage charge zooms up before your very eyes, very impressive and unbelievably it still supports pass through while on fast charge.

6P9hPPF.jpg

The charge will automatically stop and the screen will go off once charging has completed and if unplugging immediately after charging it is noticeable that both the charging adaptor and device is a little toasty but not to the extent that it gave me any concern! For those like me who thought the 15min claim is the usual marketing exaggeration you will be pleasantly surprised as it seemed about 15mins each time and the one occasion I actually watched over it and timed the charging process the whole charge took just 13mins 48seconds!

8N3sniw.png

The only thing i picked up on is that a point is made of 300 or more cycles using fast charging when the amount of expected cycles for an internal battery isn't usually mentioned which does make me wonder if constant use of fast charging might deteriorate the battery at a faster rate than using the 2A standard charging option, but i am just reading between the lines!

My Experience Using The Obelisk 120 FC

First thing that does need pointing out is the linked device does not include the fast charger adaptor although there are versions available that does and it is available separately so do your homework first on whether you need the charger and which version is best for you.

Luckily Sourcemore have included a coupon code for this device for me to include because one con is at full price this is not cheap and again remember this is the version without a charger although by using the code and buying the charger separately does with that code become a cheaper option than buying the kit with everything included!

If you like how the Aegis operates and it's menu system then you will be pleased the Obelisk is navigated the same way with performance to match. Love the fire button, response and ramp up is as good as on most devices, of course you also have the VPC mode if you want a bit extra power up front before tapering to the wattage you require!

Absolutely no issues when testing the device, it's a trooper and the 15 minutes to charge is a wow feature although not too sure if charging this way continuously could deteriorate the battery quicker, again I honestly don't know but just reading between the lines gives me a hunch it might. I suppose after the novelty wears off the sensible thing to do is to charge at 2A when there is no rush knowing you have the 15 minute fast charge in the locker when needed! I didn't use the OTG mode as apart from vaping stuff i am not really a tech head so don't have gadgets that need charging but the whole Power Bank option as been seen before on devices and does sound a useful feature.

Really apart from not being over confident about the durability of the paint finish i have no real issues although those with OCD need noting the side mirrored panels are fingerprint magnets. It will hold up to 26mm tanks without overhang and for a 3700mAh device is a nice size and weight!

FINALLY!

Finally scored my first Billet Box, in vaping since 2009 and in the business since 2012 and I always swore I would never come off the cash to get one but after buying the Vaperz Cloud Abyss AIO, it sealed the deal for me as far as these Bridges and the flavor you get out of them as well as decent Cloud production

Closed/Sold Armageddon Redemption 24mm RDA with BF pin - new in box

New in box brass Armageddon Redemption 24mm RDA. Includes 2 drip tips and spares (including squonk pin).

This thing is built for big coils and big power. I'm not much of a cloud chucker but I do get the urge now and again. And when I do, this RDA makes me chuckle. It's really kind of ridiculous. :)

Where to buy superfine Clapton wire

I got a taste for using superfine Clapton wire in my MTL RTAS and have purchased some pre-made Vandy Vape coils to use. I know that VV also makes bulk spools of the wire but only in 10ft lengths, and hard to find in stock.

I went to Lightning and KBee to see what was available, but found nothing that I was looking for - 30ga single core wrapped with 38ga in stainless steel and kanthal.

So - any other source for 30-40 ft spools?

I suppose I can try twisting some fine kanthal or SS but would prefer the clapton.

Nicotine pouches

I have a question about nicotine pouches, that I can find the answer to anywhere. I figured DYIers may know.

I have Sapphyre Nic Concentrated Nicotine Additive, 1 Nic Pack, and it says it's 1.8ml 20%. I understand that to mean that the pack has 1.8ml at a strength of 20% = 0.36ml of nicotine.

Now nicotine strength is usually given in mg (not ml), so a 60 ml bottle at 3 mg/ml nic would have a total of 180mg of nicotine.

Furthermore, the back of package states that 1 nic pack added to a 60ml bottle at 0% nicotine would results in e-liquid with 6 mg (per ml, I presume).

I understand that there is parity of mg to ml for water (1ml of water has a mass of 1mg), which probably isn't true for nicotine, but I still can't make any sense of this math.

How does one pack with 1.8ml at 20% mixed with in with a bottle of nic-free e-lquid of 60 ml turn it into 6mg/ml??

Sapphyre Nic -20% Liquid Nicotine 1.8ml (5 Pack)

UWELL AEGLOS P1 POD MOD KIT review by hittman

Hello again and thanks for tuning in for yet another review of mine. This time I will be discussing the Uwell Aeglos P1. A while back I reviewed the original Aeglos and liked it quite well. The P1 is definitely an upgrade from the original with some really nice features. I was sent the Aeglos P1 by Sourcemore in order to provide a fair and honest review. I hope to accomplish that and give an opinion or two along the way. There are a ton of pod mods on the market with what seems like more coming out each day. Hopefully the Aeglos P1 can hold its own and have some features that will make it stand out. Let’s take a look at some product information and see if the P1 might be something you would like to try.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the P1 is pretty average for a device like this. Not fancy but not cheap. When I opened it, I immediately liked the appearance of it. The brown leather is very attractive in my opinion along with the zinc alloy frame. One thing that I noticed early on was how they shaped the bottom of the device. It does give it a nice appearance but makes it easier to tip over when sitting on a table or desk. It looks good but takes away from the stability a little bit.

upload_2021-7-21_7-56-41.png

On one side of the mod the word UWELL is stamped into the leather and the other side has the word AEGLOS stamped into the leather. The leather wrap is part of the C frame that covers the battery and battery compartment. There are also two lines of stitching in the leather. I noticed that the leather wrap does not seem to be padded at all underneath. It’s not something that bothered me but I did notice that when pushed on the backing seems solid and not padded at all.

Like I said, I think the P1 has a very attractive appearance. On the front of the device is the nice sized square fire button with the multicolored display underneath followed by the plus and minus buttons that are a little on the small side but not bad. On the bottom is the USB-C charging port which offers a 2 amp charging rate if you have to use it to charge. I ran an 18650 battery down until the battery indicator was red and was able to recharge in a little over an hour. I was able to get 290 puffs on the .2 ohm coil with the output set at 32 watts and airflow control about 1/3 open. The .2 ohm coil is rated 45-52 watts but I really liked the flavor I was getting at the lower setting I was running and had no issues with leaking despite running the coil lower. The other coil included is a .6 ohm coil. I didn’t like this coil near as much as the .2 coil. Even with the airflow completely open it was a fairly restricted direct lung vape. I ended up running this one at 20 watts while it was rated at 23-27 watts. This is out of character for me since I tend to like the higher resistance coil in most kits that I test for reviews.

One thing that I didn’t quite understand was what the bottom o ring on the coils is for. When you press the coil in the top one and the next one down seal in the pod tank but the bottom one doesn’t really make a seal that I can tell.

upload_2021-7-21_7-59-32.png

upload_2021-7-21_7-59-53.png

I very much like the multicolored display on the Aeglos. It’s easy to read and very bright in my opinion. From top to bottom the display shows:

- Pow(power) and battery indicator

- Set wattage

- Puff counter

- Voltage under load

- Coil resistance

- Time of current puff

The menu system is fairly simplistic on this one:

- Press the fire button five times to turn on and off

- Press + and – buttons to reset puff counter

- Press fire button and – button to lock entire device

- Press fire button and + button to lock just the adjustment buttons

- Press the fire button and the + and – buttons to do a factory reset

upload_2021-7-21_8-0-32.png

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I have to say that I liked the Uwell Aeglos quite a bit. I definitely preferred the .2 ohm coil on this one. To me the .6 ohm coil was just a little too restricted on the airflow even with the airflow completely open. I wanted to run this coil at 21 watts but the vapor was just a little too warm for me so I ended up turning it down to 19 watts.

I neither like nor dislike the smart function. It really doesn’t matter to me since I’m going to set it where I want but can see where it is good for inexperienced users. I know it’s quite a bit lower than the recommended wattage but I really liked the .2 coil in the low 30 watt range. To me I got plenty of flavor and vapor at that setting and it wasn’t too warm since I don’t like that. Both of the coils produced very good flavor in my opinion.

The style of airflow adjustment on this one reminds me of some other pod mods that I’ve reviewed in the past but the fins on the tank are a new design and it’s kind of nice how they only turn so much before the fin stops it rather than have a pod that can be turned 360 degrees.

The Aeglos is very attractive in my opinion and I very much like the design and hand feel of it. I like it enough that I have already ordered a 510 adapter for it. It would have been nice if it had been included in the kit or even sent along with the kit by Sourcemore.

I’d like to thank Sourcemore and Lilia for sending the Uwell Aeglos P1 Pod mod kit for this review. Also a big thanks to all of you readers. Below is a link to the product on the Sourcemore website and a coupon code if you’d like to try one yourself.

First Look-Lost Vape Ursa Mini Kit

Hey guys. Today I'm gonna introduce the Lost Vape Ursa Mini Kit. It looks very like the Ursa Quest Multi, so what's the difference between them? Let's dive in for more details.

The Ursa Mini Pod Kit's maximum output power can be up to 30w, and it has a 0.69-inch adjustable display screen, allowing you to adjust your favorite power and perfect flavor. Simultaneously, it has four holes to adjust the airflow. In addition, even if it is a mini kit, it has a built-in battery of 1200mAh, which is convenient to carry and can also meet the power demand of the whole day.

When you replace a new atomizer, the Ursa Mini can automatically identify the resistance of the new atomizer and display it on the display screen in time. What's more, it uses a strong zinc alloy shell, shining with the metallic luster of the shell, and eight colors for you to choose, making the whole Ursa Mini Kit by Lost Vape more high-end and tasteful. As a mini kit, its extreme lightness is reflected in that it can be stuffed into the pocket at will, and you can't feel its weight.

Bench Test Results: Vapcell Green F34 - 10A 3400mAh 18650…great performer, bit overrated capacity

These tests below only note my personal ESTIMATED ratings for the batteries I tested at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, or Sanyo can change at any time! This is one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of property damage, personal injury, or even death. They are not supposed to be used outside of a fully protected battery pack and you use them at your own risk. Never exceed the battery’s true continuous current rating and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition.

Testing batteries at their limits is dangerous and should never be attempted by anyone who has not thoroughly studied the dangers involved, understands the risks, has the proper equipment, and takes all appropriate safety precautions.

If the battery has only one current rating number, or if it only says "max", then I have to assume the battery is rated at that current level for any type of discharge, including continuous.

Test Results
This cell is a great performer and its 10A rating seems reasonable. Its capacity rating is a bit exaggerated though. It performs a little better than the Sanyo NCR18650GA down to about 3.0V. If you are running down to a lower voltage than that the NCR18650GA might run for a bit longer.

The Vapcell F34 and Sanyo NCR18650GA run at about the same temperature. I do not know how this Vapcell’s cycle life compares to the long-lasting Sanyo NCR18650GA.

The 20A max rating is undefined and useless, ignore it.

The two cells I tested delivered 3348mAh and 3352mAh. This is great consistency but is below this cell’s 3400mAh rating. Since I cannot have the lowest capacity cells in the batch I am rating these 3300mAh.

Two cells were donated for testing by Vapcell (18650 batteries, Vapcell batteries, 18650 Chargers). Thank you!

Very limited availability. Which 18650 will do?

Hi,

I have been using Samsung 25 flat tops and AW button tops. They are about 4 years old now and still seem to be ok but I would like to replace them.

Unfortunately there is very little availability. I actually need button top batteries now and I can't find any high discharge ones.

I am an old school vaper using a protank4, vaping at max 23 watts on a .5 to .6 ohm coil with a single 18650, so it's a pretty tame setup.

Can I use one of the high capacity low drain batteries?

Can someone throw at a few battery models that would suit my needs so I can see if I can find them?

Thanks for your help.

FreeMax Marvos 60W Kit Review By Frenkyou

FreeMax Marvos 60W Kit

Thanks Freemax for sending me the product for free in exchange for my honest evaluation.
Marvos 60W Kit | Freemax - Taste the Clouds, Feel the Flavors!

More advanced in shapes, with the adoption of a large 0.96 "color screen and an integrated battery with a capacity of 2.000mAh. FreeMax Marvos 60W First impressions:
For this test I got the Gunmetal version of Marvos 60W, it is an All in One Tri-Proof IP67 device (the first of FreeMax with these features). So FreeMax Marvos 60W boasts qualities of resistance to dust, shocks and water. The paint appears sturdy with good quality finishes, the display is beautifully colored, very bright and with enlarged and clearly legible fonts.

I was pleased to find on this device the effective adjustable bilateral AFC already seen on Marvos T80 together with the Pod-Tank with replaceable Drip-Tip 810. Also available separately is a valuable Pod-Tank entirely made of Pyrex glass which can guarantee a better aromatic perception of the liquids it contains.
FreeMax claims the "Glass Pod Tank" option was the first in the world to be made available on the market.

Having had previous and positive test experiences with the various Fireluke Tanks installed on the "technologicals" Mod Maxus (50-100-200W) and with the previous All In One Marvos T80 kit, I am very confident also for this new product.

FreeMax Marvos 60W Kit 7.jpg

FreeMax Marvos 60W Feeling:
The dimensions of this kit are not particularly small, but this is normal because you have to take into account the IP67 coating and its thick armor. However, the handling is really good thanks to an octagonal shape that is not excessively elongated, the grip is comfortable and ergonomic. The weight is contained in just 129g thanks to the construction of the frame in light aluminum alloy. Liquid silicone rubber (as it is defined) is of the "soft" type but not too much as the name would suggest. Marvos transmits a good texture and a good grip thanks to this material and the numerous engravings on its surface.

FreeMax Marvos 60W Kit 8.jpg

FreeMax Marvos 60W Front / Rear View:
The completely transparent Pod is quite bulky but in the overall view the device appears well proportioned.

Going down (from above) on the front side we see the small and unobtrusive wording "FreeMax". The Fire key is slightly protruding and seems to be made of plastic material, however it does not produce any annoying noise it is precise and easy to click.

The screen and the "Up and Down" adjustment buttons are immersed in "liquid silicone". The display shows all the information useful for vaping; graphic level of residual charge, set mode, set power, adjustment lock / unlock symbol (padlock), Volt, Ohm, puff counter, duration of the last puff and indication of the 5 background colors available for the display.
The underlying USB-C port is protected by a sturdy cap for its waterproofness.

In the upper part of the rear area there is the two-way AFC control mechanism. The knob protrudes and is made of sturdy metal, its excursion guarantees a precise adjustment that remains firm in the chosen position. Below we find the inscription Marvos above a satin plate with pleasant bronze reflections.

FreeMax Marvos 60W Kit 9.jpg

FreeMax Marvos 60W Side View:
On the side Marvos is almost completely covered and protected. The "liquid silicone" is engraved with five ergonomic grooves on each side and is delimited by border lines of a brighter color.
The two opposing slots for the passage of air towards the coil are completely partializable for the RDL / DL vape and measure 11x3mm each.
