I came across this video in my recommendations for some reason... He makes a compelling case and shares his experience with his father and grandfather dying from cigarettes and his distain for them. He didn't/doesn't like vaping as he has friends that he thinks it annoying.. It's worth a full watch because I think we still live in the past a little and now that vaping has been here about 13 years - we have to realize that there are people (not sure how many) that never smoked, never would smoke but somehow ended up addicted to nicotine..

Hello, and welcome to another addition of Z-Lee's overly done vape reviews. Today we will be looking at the Onnix 2 which is Freemax's successor to the original Onnix.

I will admit, I've never personally been very attracted to these types of smaller vape gadgets because they feel so dainty, but when Freemax offers me anything - even a leftover half-eaten Halloween Hershey's bar - I'm gonna take it. Why you might ask? Because in all of my experiences with vaping which has become rather extensive in the past 5-6 months (it definitely didn't have anything to do with the pressures of PMTA's, or PACT Act/vape mail banning ), Freemax currently holds the cake for best premade coilheads on the market for RDL/DL vaping in regards to flavor, coil longevity, vape range, and overall performance with the release of their CoilTech 4.0 904L series coils. Innokin kind of holding the fort down in the MTL department. But who doesn't love cake? Okay yes, the kind with homemade frosting - none of that nasty, foamy sugar stuff that comes as a 2-inch layer on top. Anyway, that 904L coil is now being contended with their newest release of the OX-series coil which are specialized for both salt nic and freebase juices. We'll dig deeper into that further down in the review.

First off, I want to thank @Freemax_Jerry for providing me the opportunity to do a review on this product. As always, I will remain neutrally bias and critical in this review (even though I love Freemax, I give credit where it's due, and none where it isn't). If I see potential flaws or areas of needed improvement, you can count on me point them out (within reason - ie. I cannot tell you how this product will perform in 5 years or 20 years being that I do not have that information).

Without further ado, let's dive in.

Overview:

What comes in the box.


Both the Standard Edition and TPD Edition are identical, being that the pod only holds 2 mL of juice anyway.


Basic Features.

The Specs.



The Onnix 2 comes in 6 different colors as seen below.

The finish is a clear gloss which really brings out the vibrant colors on the front and rear panels.


This is the basic breakdown of the Onnix 2 Pod Kit.

There really isn't anything new about this if you are familiar with these styles of vape pens. No need to reinvent the wheel.

The OX-series coils comes in 4 different resistances:

• 0.5 Ohms (CoilTech 4.0)
• 0.8 Ohms (SaltCoilTech 3.0)
• 1.0 Ohms (SaltCoilTech 3.0)
• 1.2 Ohms (SaltCoilTech 3.0)

The 0.5 Ohm OX coil (green) has a "Best Wattage" range of 16-20 Watts and although the Onnix 2 maxes out at 15 Watts, from my experiences with Freemax coils, they have always been able to perform very well, under the recommended Wattages; in fact, I almost exclusively vape them under the recommended range for best flavor since my interest does not lie in crazy vape production. The 0.8 (pre-installed) and 1.0 Ohm coils come included in the box.

I've only used the 0.8 Ohm coil so far, and the only slight negative I've noticed from it so far is that it uses a tad more juice than I'd prefer for a device that has a 2 mL juice capacity (I would estimate 100ish or so puffs before having to refill). However, if you are a salt nic user, you're likely to draw less at a time being that the nic delivery will be more potent and in turn, save both juice consumption and battery life. The 1.0 and 1.2 Ohm coils are only going to further extend these aspects.


The Onnix 2 can be activated by both button and auto-draw.


As noted here, 3 quick clicks of the button to change between activation modes. Auto-draw performance is on par with button activation. Draw suction can be quite light to activate the draw unlike other devices I have used with the same feature. Auto-draw also makes it safe to put in your pocket w/out fear of it activating by accident.


Internal 900 mAh battery with USB-C type charging.

The battery status can be monitored via 3 white glowing lights which appear briefly after each draw. Pictures of this will be shown further down in my personal photos. A 900 mAh drawing at 15 Watts is going to last you quite a long time depending on how often you vape.


Alright, well that about wraps it up...




Okay so, the overview was just a basic layout of what to expect from the Onnix 2 Pod Kit. Below, I will share my experiences with a few up close pictures as well as provide some pros and cons. The great part is, there isn't a whole lot more to this, which is more or less the beauty of a simple vape pen.

I've had this pod kit for about a week and a half now. I've vaped probably 6 or 7 pods worth of juice (2 mL each) through the 0.8 Ohm coil and have had to recharge it three times so far. So pretty much 3 full 900 mAh battery discharges and I'm about a 1/3 through the current charge. So, you're looking at about 2 pods refills per recharge. As mentioned above, if you're rocking salt nics or one of the higher Ohm coils (the 1.0 or 1.2), then you're likely to experience even better results.


My Impressions and Experiences:

Out of the package.

A closer look.

Left Picture:
The bottom side of the pod. The 0.8 Ohm comes pre-installed out of the box. It has a sticker covering the coil connector for safety measures during storage and transport. Remember to remove this.

Middle Picture:
This is a top-down view into the connector pins where the pod slides in. In any pod kit, this is where you're going to see leaking if there is any, either from the air vents that flow through the mod housing and up through the coil (most often condensation), or leaking from the bottom of the pod where the coil seals seat into the pod. I am happy to report that in 11 days, neither of these potential forms of moisture are present in the slightest bit. The magnets are also quite strong, so there's no worries of it popping out during normal use.

Right Picture:
The rubber refill tab is easy to access and is quite thick (almost too thick?). The positive side is that you won't need to worry about tearing the rubber while getting the flange open. I encountered this with the VooPoo Vinci X2. Others have also reported tearing off the Vinci X2 refill tab by accident, so you won't have to worry about that. The negative side is that it makes things a tad more difficult holding it back while refilling. I'll take it if it means a longer lasting pod.


The coils.



Left Picture:
I pulled the pre-installed 0.8 Ohm coil out of the pod to get a closer look at it. The recommended Wattage is 12-15W, but the mod auto-detects this and adjusts as needed.

Right Picture:
A secondary 1.0 Ohm coil comes as an option if you're interested in a higher Ohm coil. The 0.5 and 1.2 Ohm coils will need to be purchased separately if that is your jam.


Priming & Refilling.

Left Picture:
Remember to prime the coil before you pop it into the pod. Squirt enough juice to saturate the exposed wick in each of the 4 juice ports; 3-4 times for each juice port after it soaks in should do the trick. You'll know it's fully saturated when you see a bubble forming outside of the juice ports.

Right Picture:
Rubber refill flange is pulled back exposing a refill hole that very easily fits a chubby gorilla nozzle into it.


Fill 'er up!



Once the coil is primed and inserted into the pod, and then the pod is filled - let sit for 2-3 minutes before vaping. If you do not prime the coil, I would suggest 5+ minutes, possibly more, to allow wick absorption depending on the coil size.
A reminder that the presence of air bubbles are a good thing. It means the vaping/consumption of juice is being properly displaced by air that's filling the growing void. If you don't see bubbles, you can expect dry hits. This applies to all pods and atomizers.


Airflow Holes.

Two needle-sized airflow holes are present on both sides of the pod housing. With both of these uncovered, you can expect a Restricted DL vape. What's great about the auto-draw feature on this pod is, if you want an MTL or Restricted MTL vape, you can use your thumb and finger to cover one or both holes while not having to worry about coordinating that and pressing the fire button at the same time. Unfortunately we weren't born with octopus hands. When people talk about sucking a golf ball through a garden hose, that is what you can expect if you cover both holes.


Battery indicator.



These are pictures of the battery indicating lights while it's charging. The lights pulse and grow from it's current status up to three, in the fashion of airport runway lights. Likewise, while not charging, after you have activated the pod by inhaling, for a brief moment after you stop inhaling, the lights will grow from no lights to its current battery status.

-One white light: 0-35% battery life
-Two white lights: 36-70% battery life
-Three white lights: 71-100% battery life

There is also a blue light that isn't visible here that is situated just above the charging port that can be used to determine activation of certain mod protections based on the number of times it blinks if such a circumstance were to arise. Note that during normal use, this blue light activates as a constant glow until you stop inhaling, and then the battery status lights will come on. This is completely expected and normal.



Final evaluation: Freemax Onnix 2 Pod Kit

I am quite impressed with this tiny little number. As I had mentioned earlier in the review, I'm not generally a fan of these types of vape kits. However, if you stick a turbo (a Freemax coil) in a Toyota Corolla and give me the keys, I'm willing to give it a ride. In this case, it's proven to exceed my expectations by quite a bit. I'm half tempted to go out and grab some salt nic just to see the difference. Freemax coils have always delivered for me, and this is no exception. This will definitely be an on-the-go choice for me if I'm running some errands or don't want to hold a mod in my hand while out and about. Also, I like my mods standing up. While this can stand, it's also tipsy meaning I've knocked it over probably 4x or 5x as much as I have any other kit, and it hasn't even blinked.

-No permanent adjustable airflow (Loose MTL/Restricted DL by default)

• Can use thumb or thumb and finger to plug one or both air flow holes if needed (Auto-draw makes this very easy)

Before I give a final evaluation, I want the viewer to understand how I rate this. For all values with a Weight of 10, it means this is a high priority for me - what I personally look for in a vape product. The lower the weight, the less this effects my overall judgment. Also bear in mind that I am evaluating this product for its intended purpose. Do I want to be able to fit a 4000 mAh battery in this thing? Yes. Do I want a 510 adapter so I can stick a 35mm atomizer on top of this? Yes, but of course those aren't practical and will not be evaluated as such. The overall rating isn't a computed average of each of these scores, but rather my overall enjoyment of vaping with this product.

I have an older VT Inbox that the tube coming from the 510 has broken off. Is there anyway to replace this tube or is it just trash? Also does anyone know how to take it apart/ Does it use screws , pins or small rivets?

Introduction

Hellvape are an atomiser specialist best known for their Dead Rabbit series of RDA's, RTA's and most recently the innovative R Tank. Here we are back to where the Rabbit culling began, the Dead Rabbit RDA, now on version 3!

The new V3 see's the Rabbit ear posts get the cylindrical aerodynamic treatment which also allows plenty of room for trimming after the coils are installed. The other main upgrade is an increase in airflow now having the choice or three rows of honeycomb rather than two or three slots per side.





The V3 was designed with squonking in mind with the flow from the BF pin being directed through channels towards the cotton either side and also having a deep 5mm well! Coming fitted with an anti bacterial 810 drip tip and coming in 8 colour options let's crack on and take a closer look!

Aesthetics

The Dead Rabbit V3 came in the usual Orange Hellvape cardboard box packaging with viewing window so the RDA can be seen without opening the box, on the reverse we have specifications and listed contents! I received the Red version, the options are Stainless Steel, Matte Black, Matte Full Black, Gunmetal, Gold, Rainbow, Blue or Red!

Up top we have a Resin 810 Goon fit drip tip with lower Red band that has "HELLVAPE" printed on it! The protruding section of the inner sleeve has a castle design and then the features of the outer sleeve are the three slotted airflow either side (will be honeycomb if lined up with honeycomb airflow of inner sleeve) and large Dead Rabbit logo carved into the metal, on some colour versions including the Red I received this then also has a metallic finish!

Moving to the base we have etched branding, safety marks and serial number, the Gold plated 510 protrudes nicely and will be fine using on mechanical devices, just build safely and know your battery safety and ohms law, also always check the resistance on a tab or regulated device first!

The 24mm in diameter V3 being only about 37mm in height has quite a small compact look to it and at 42g is quite light!

What You Receive?

As well as the Dead Rabbit V3 RDA with installed anti bacterial Goon fitting Resin 810 drip tip you also receive a manual and social media card.

We then have three bags with spare O-rings, post screws and a BF pin being in one and 2 different sized Allen Keys and a flathead screwdriver being in one of the others.

The final bag comprises of 2 shoelace cotton pieces and a pair of fused claptons, NI80 3.0ID 0.37ohm, full specs not given but I am sure you knowledgeable folks can work out from the information given the gauge of cores and binding!

It's Various Parts

Up top we have a Resin 810 goon fitting drip tip which is fitted to the inner sleeve which can be pulled free from the outer sleeve which reveals two opposite sides have honeycomb airflow and the other two sides have a slotted airflow design! The inner sleeve also has a sturdy outer O-ring.





The outer sleeve has slotted airflow either side and this pulls off the deep welled base section. The base has a neat looking post design with gold plated positive posts, the posts while having a new cylindrical look still stays true to the Dead Rabbit ears design!





Pre-installed we have a standard pin but this can be swapped out for the included BF pin!

The Dead Rabbit V3 with goon style drip tip which is easily pulled free works as well as any other RDA as a standard dripper and has a deep 5mm well! This deep well also makes the V3 very BF friendly with channels that guide the e-liquid from the pin directly either side to your cotton!





The pin holds all the parts of the deck together which is great for cleaning purposes but it does mean the pin can't be swapped out on the fly!

The Airflow

The outer sleeve has three slots lined up vertically either side, we then have an inner sleeve, the top protrudes above the outer sleeve to allow for it to be turned. On this inner sleeve we have the same matching three slots opposite each other and then the other two opposite sides has three rows of honeycomb airflow holes, 5 each row so 15 per side in total!





When placing the outer sleeve on to the base you have a protruding tab either side on the inside of the sleeve which sit on rails and when next to the stopper one side is lined up centrally with your coils. Then the inner sleeve can be turned to adjust airflow, so you can have all 3 rows of 5 holes open, 3 rows of 4 holes, 3 rows of 3 holes and so on, when the airflow is fully closed you can then carry on turning to open up the 3 slot airflow either part open or fully open! Normally when an RDA has this design when the airflow starts to get closed down it no longer lines up centrally to your coils but because the outer sleeve sits on the mentioned rails after airflow adjustment it can be realigned! Excellent!!!!





The slots on the outer sleeve and both slots and honeycomb airflow holes on the inner sleeve are cut out to have a downwards angle to give both lower side and bottom airflow!

The Deck

The deck has that familiar Rabbit ear posts look but with new aerodynamic cylindrical design. We still have large terminals and as before the leads get slotted into place from above just like you would with a postless design, there is now even more room to access your leads for snipping! The leads get fastened via the ends of the posts by slotted screws but you also receive a set of hex screws if you prefer!

The Build

As mentioned we have easy access to the coil leads but I used the included Fused Claptons that looked very decent which had very long leads so did give them a quick trim first. Then just drop your leads in the terminals from above, hold at the correct height with a coiling rod and fasten down, I then repeated the process with the other coil! You can then manipulate the position of your coils with a coiling rod or fit for purpose tool, I positioned them more towards the airflow than centre but still left enough room for the air to spread and give full coverage to the lower sides and bottom of my coils, once in position I snipped my access leads!





Then I gave my coils a quick pulse to get them glowing from the centre outwards, at this point you also strum out any hotspots although I didn't have any.





Despite the coils sitting quite high above the deck the included shoelace cotton is so long I found just one piece was the ideal length to feed through both coils and then just cut on the bend. I then fluffed up my ends, trimmed and then tucked in the juice well. I then primed my build and gave it a few pulses to admire my work (somebody has to)!

My Thoughts!

I did think the lack of a 510 option in the form of an adaptor like we saw with V2 might be a con but V3 gives that much more air than V2 a 510 just wouldn't make sense!

With the slotted airflow fully open this is a cloud chucker and although flavour isn't bad it's not any great shakes! It has no restriction and is quite loud but then my experience using the honeycomb airflow was quite different, super smooth and top notch flavour. There is still little in the way of restriction with the honeycomb airflow fully open and even when closed down to just 3 holes per row it was a medium loose direct lung draw so not for the likes of me that prefer plenty of restriction and more modest wattage!

My build came out at 0.19ohms and with the slotted airflow fully open I found it needed 85w to be at it's best but I settled for the honeycomb airflow with 3 holes per row and then realigned which only needed 60w and although I would prefer much more restriction for me this was the RDA at it's best which I can appreciate that for those who prefer little in the way of restriction this is a flavour banger that gives plenty of cloud for good measure!

Of course you can also drip when using on a BF device so I did swap for the BF pin so I could test both options and it works fine as a dripper and excels as a BF RDA directing the liquid directly to the cotton and with it's 5mm juice well! Dropping the coils in from above and having plenty of room to access your leads makes the build very easy and I do love the futuristic cylindrical post design!

Having the outer sleeve sit on a rail system so that after airflow adjustments it can be realigned to the centre of your coils is excellent and the inner sleeve moves with just the right amount of restriction. The deck comes completely apart which is great for cleaning purposes but I often like to switch from standard to BF devices so would of preferred being able to swap pins on the fly!

I have a Kylin v3 that I used to love, but I lost the hex key to screw in the coils so it's been sitting unused for about a year. Greetings all; I'm glad to be here, and hope I can eventually contribute something useful, as I'm sure I'll learn a lot. After 30+ years of smoking, I followed a family member's lead to vaping and I've never looked back. Even after nearly 10 years, having a REAL sense of smell still has exciting moments (granted, exciting doesn't always mean pleasant...).

As someone who never wants to go back to cigarettes, but is absolutely not ready to give up vaping, I'm frustrated by the screws being put to the vaping community, in so many ways. The latest is shipping. I live due south of BFE, which is near a swamp in southeast VA. Buying online has been my lifeline when I can't get into town, which is more often than not. VaporFi just stopped shipping to my zip code, so now I'm on the hunt for other online vendors that can deliver.

I started with V-2 ecigs, and still use my V-2 batteries with MigVapor carts. I'll never forgive V-2 for going abruptly Tango Uniform, because they were great and I miss 'em. ;-P I joined the bluNation and was reasonably content until they pulled their products from all my local retailers and later stopped online sales (brilliant!). I thought I'd found a safe harbour last year with the MigVapor line on VaporFi, but looks like I'm back to scrounging menthol JUULs from gas station kiosks. I actually had a dream the other night that I was smoking Marlboro Reds. It was awful.

Looking at the Aegis Solo for an extremely durable single 18650 mode. A long time ago I had a heatvape invader mini that was near indestructible and I gave it away when I was cloud chasing with triple battery mods. I am looking to go back to a single 18650 mod and was wondering how the Aegis compares to the invader mini in regards to durability? From what i can find, I dont think Heatvape is still alive.
