EH PRO COLD STEEL 100 MOD review by hittman

I’m back once again today to present yet another review. This time I will be attempting to cover the EH Pro Cold Steel 100 Mod. This mod seems very small in the hand for a 21700/ 20700/ 18650 mod and is very comfortable to hold. Although it’s not one of the most popular brands out there, I think it’s a very nice and simple mod that can fit in a pocket and still last me through the whole day for my style of vaping. Let’s see what’s included and I’ll give my opinions on it so you can judge for yourself if it would be a good fit for you also.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

The Cold Steel 100 comes in quite a different package than what I’m used to seeing. The box itself is quite small and when opened I found what appeared to be a belt holster like one would store a pocket knife in on their belt. However, it doesn’t appear that there is room once the pouch is closed that there would be room for a tank on the mod if you were actually going to wear it on your belt. Besides user manual and warranty card, there is a USB mini charging cable and 18650 battery adapter included.

The mod itself reminds me of the old Zen mods from years ago or even somewhat similar to the SX mini. Its basic design is a battery tube with the board and closure mounted on the side. I know the picture above shows the Ambitionz Vaper logo above the fire button but the one that I received does not have that. As a matter of fact, the mod doesn’t have any kind of markings or branding on it besides the Cold Steel stamped into the metal on the back of the unit on the bottom. With the black version, it is barely noticeable.

The one I received is black. It seems like a decent finish on it. From top to bottom on the face of the mod is the fire button, display screen, + and – buttons, and USB mini charging port. When the mod is first turned on the display shows Cold Steel. The display is a little small compared to some more current mods. The display shows the mode (normal, soft, hard), atomizer resistance, a battery level indicator, voltage of current puff, and in larger font the set wattage. The operation is as follows:

- Press the fire button five times to turn on and off

- Press the fire button to go to the mode menu and use the + and – buttons to scroll through the available modes( Power, Temperature control, Curve, Bypass, and Volt)

- Press the + and – buttons to lock the mod from firing or adjusting

- Press the fire and – button to flip the screen

- Press the fire and + button to lock the adjustment buttons

- Press the fire, + and – buttons to go to stealth mode

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Overall I liked the simplicity and the feeling in the hand of the Cold Steel mod. Yes the display is a little small and doesn’t show a ton of information on the screen but sometimes simple is better. The mod is very small and lightweight in my opinion for a 21700 mod. Sometimes it’s hard to put into words how well a mod feels in the hand. For me, this is one of the most comfortable to hold 21700 mods that I’ve tried.

It has all of the basic modes that you see on most mods. I usually don’t use temperature control and am for the most part a wattage vaper. I used to play around with some of the curve functions on different mods but to me it wasn’t usually worth the trouble. I like that the mod will fit a 25mm tank comfortably. I have heard some remarks about this mod being a copy of the SX mini but you could get a few of these for the same price as one of the SX. I do own an SX and yes it is similar in design. The cold steel is smaller and lighter weight. No it’s not a high end mod but seems to function well in my opinion for what it is. If you’re looking for an inexpensive 21700 mod that works well and doesn’t have a noticeable lag on firing then it may be a good fit for you. So would I recommend the EH Pro Cold Steel mod? Yes I would. It may just be my opinion but I very much like it and plan on continuing to use it. As usual, a big thanks to Sourcemore and Lilia for sending this for review. Also thanks to you the readers that make it possible for me to continue writing reviews. No Shame | Bloomberg’s War on Vaping Pt. 1

In a world filled with grand conspiracy theories, it can be difficult to nail down a proper villain. After all, there’s no shortage of bad actors. But when it comes to the war on vaping there’s really only one, the billionaire Michael Bloomberg.
In this special series of RegWatch, we explore how Bloomberg uses his power and money to backstop a tangled web of philanthropic organizations who cajole, strong-arm or buy-off governments of low and middle-income countries so that they would implement harsh restrictions, taxes, and even bans on low-risk nicotine products, such as vaping.

Can anyone recommend an affordable vape shop in Arlington, VA?

Hi all,

I've stocked up as best I can but my stock won't last forever. I was wondering if there are other users here who live in Arlington, VA, who could recommend an affordable vape shop? I'm use to paying $11.99 for a 100ML or 120ML bottle online. My flavor profiles are vanilla's, strawberry's, custards, fruit punch, etc.

Also my vape gear is VooPoo Drag S, VooPoo Drag X Plus and Vaporesso Swag 2 (I would need to be able to get coils for these tanks as well.

If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it. I'm having a hard time digesting this vape mail ban and it's freaking me out! I've never shopped at a local vape shop before because of the prices being so high. I've only been in one with a friend last year, and they charged like $34.99 for a 60ML bottle of juice. There is no way I can afford that, I'm on a very tight budget.

Thanks

Old Member Looking For Help

Hello all,

I joined here a long time go when 510s and eGo's were big, Spring 2011 I think. Years, and a new artificial hip, later I got the gist that I needed to update and/or stock up.

Juice I have no trouble with since I've been getting liters of unflavored VG direct from the lab and have already been in phone contact with them regarding this.

However, my really e-cig is really old style and soon (3-6 weeks) here I will be out of atomizers for the eGo-C pass through I've used for years.

Here's the thing. I am so confused. I have no idea what to buy.

All I can do is try to give my likes and dislikes and hope someone can help me out with deciding what the next thing is I should get.

Basically I am still using an eGo-C Pass through ...

Likes:
- Easy to assemble, disassemble and clean
- Easy to use
- Delivery is key - throat hit is not a consideration.
- Pass through would be nice, but not a requirement at this time

Dislikes:
-Computerization that is superfluous
-Bright and flashy that serves no purpose.

I guess I have to give up on whistle aka flat tips. What I am looking for is something pretty dependable. Price I would like is between 30-80 dollars US.

Sorry if I sound like some throwback, but I never really got into the mechanics of e-cigs, once I had a workable setup I was happy.

Any assistance in the form of education, links, whatever, will be highly appreciated.

Thanks!
Outre

I was not very clear in this OP so I will include the link to the exact product I have been using for 11 years here;

Final DIY Prep Checklist and Follow-up Questions

Hello All -
New DIYer here. I've been busy this month and was able to get most of the stuff I'm going to need to keep me stocked well into the future. For background, I plan mix by weight, although I do have some items on my list to let me mix by volume if I'd like. Below is my list of supplies, and a few tactical questions below:

  • Chest Freezer
  • Freebase nicotine 100mg/ml (100% PG base) - 2 gallons from LNW
  • DIY Kit from River Supply (contains 500ml of PG and 500ml of VG, graduated cylinder, syringes, pipettes, funnel, empty bottles and gloves)
  • 500ml of additional VG (I figure I'll buy more PG and VG as needed since it should still be available)
  • 20ct 60ml amber glass bottles w/dripper caps
  • 128ct 120ml amber glass bottles w/polycone caps from Glass Bottle Outlet
  • 0.01g Mini Scale at Amazon
  • Several bottles of one-shot flavoring from FlavorJungle (plan to buy individual flavors for mixing later, but thought to start the one-shot route first)
  • ART Argon Wine Saver at Amazon
  • White electrical tape to add an extra seal around caps of the amber bottles
So, my nicotine and 120ml amber bottles arrived this week, but I haven't broken the nic yet into them. Nic is currently in the freezer in the original gallon plastic jugs. For I do break them down, I have a few questions.
  • Good idea to wash wash the 120ml bottles in the diswasher before using? What about the polycone caps? I've heard that water can get underneath the polycone part of the cap and cause other issues.
  • Good idea to shake up the nicotine before breaking down?
  • When I fill up the 120ml glass bottles, how much space should I leave from the top? I've heard that many folks stop right around where the straight part of the bottle forms at the neck. That being said, I'm not sure that assumed the nic was at room temperature whereas mine will already be condensed a bit from being in the freezer.
A few more random questions:
  • Any recommendations on a way to test nicotine levels in a base or in completed eliquid? I'd like to do a test of the nicotine level now vs. when I pull it out of the freezer over time.
  • Any recommendations on a smart thermometer that can send me a text alert if the temperature of the freezer drops below a certain level?
  • Anything I'm missing in the list above or techniques I should be using that most newbies wouldn't know?

Preventing residue in PC case?

I sit at my computer a lot during the day for university, work, and to play games. A few years back, a lot of residue from vaping built up in my case. Didn’t notice until my GTX 1060 stopped working one day. Looked inside and the micro capacitors on the card were sitting in a bit of it and had corroded off the board.

Hypothetically, it shouldn’t have done that. It shouldn’t be conductive or corrosive from what I’ve read, but that’s what happened, honest truth.

Few weeks ago I was swapping out my motherboard and noticed there is once again a bit of residue build up on fans in the case. Not as bad as before. I cleaned it all out with rubbing alcohol.

Is there some kind of way I can prevent this residue from building up in the case? Just been trying to keep a window cracked and blow my vapor out the window.

Maybe some paper towel over the intake fan ports? It’ll reduce airflow I’m sure, but my components usually stay well under harmful temperatures. None of my frequently played games are very intensive.

Any tips for a stuck ejuice top

New bottle of liquid that I cannot get the top off of. I’ve had some before that were hard to remove for the first time but this one is impossible. The cap turns but doesn’t seem to engage when I push down. Any advice would be appreciated. Only thing I can think of is to (probably) destroy the top with pliers and pour it into a a new 7

Freemax Advocates Vaping in an Environmental-Friendly Way

The Earth is the only home that we humans can live on. Unfortunately, humans have not been taking care of the Earth over the years, which results in severe and unrecoverable damage to our only planet. Therefore, more and more people start to pay close attention to this situation, the awareness of protecting the environment is widely and quickly developed worldwide in recent years. Specifically, in order to protect the environment, it is critical for us to reduce the growing wastes of electronic devices.

As an alternative to traditional cigarettes, the vape device can greatly improve ocean pollution by reducing the usage of cigarette butts, which are one of the world's greatest sources of ocean pollution. But it comes with new issues such as increasing discarded coils, pods, parts, batteries and etc. However, very few vape companies will pay attention to what kind of consequence the over-consumption and inappropriate waste treatment methods of vape devices may bring to our environment.

Freemax takes the lead in the vape community to focus on how to vape companies should do to protect the environment. Inspired by the spirit of protecting the environment, Freemax having been designing and developing environmentally-friendly vape devices over the years. Meanwhile, Freemax will consistently devote itself to raise public awareness of protecting the environment as a part of the whole vape community.

Talking to Vape Shop

OK, so I am an old fart who has depended on the ECF entirely (REOVille, Saloon, several e-liquid threads), and now I am thinking of swinging by the local vape shops to talk hardware.
Obviously, Kayfun (clones) will be discussed. Probably going to bring up Vapefly and Vandy Vape for MTL attachments. Will undoubtably take several bottom feed mods as well.
What else should crusty old farts who have been vaping longer than their store has existed try to convince the vape shop owner (manager) they should at least look into ?
Like it or not, they local B&M's just became out main source for hardware.

Vape Aerosol Has Minimal Impact on Gene Expression in Human Lung Tissue Compared to Cigarette Smoke

"A new peer-reviewed study published in the journal Toxicological Research & Application shows acute exposure of a 3D human bronchial tissue model to e-cigarette aerosol has minimal impact on gene expression compared to smoke from combustible cigarettes.

The research involved sub-cytotoxic exposure to cells in a 3D human bronchial model (MucilAirTM) to nicotine-containing vape aerosol, combustible cigarette smoke and fresh air control under strict laboratory conditions.

The highly sensitive Toxicity Testing in the Twenty-First Century (TT21C)-based technique allows researchers to gain a mechanistic understanding of the potential effects of exposure to vape aerosol and 3R4F (reference cigarette) smoke, without experiencing other processes that may be triggered by significantly higher exposures —.........."

Vape Aerosol Has Minimal Impact on Gene Expression in Human Lung Tissue Compared to Cigarette Smoke

Again we see the advantages of vaping over smoking - In fact in category after category time and time again, we see vaping to be much safer than smoking.

Leather wallet for my Mod

This might be useful for some of you.

Last week I bought a wallet for my mech mod and it looks great!

Great stuff.

The wallet’s brand is Mayor Wallets, they have a website, Instagram and they are also on ebay. The name I find it funny, like a political joke:).
