I wasn't sure where to post this but I will explain why it relates to doing DIY.
I've noticed this before, but recently was reminded because of a new device I got... this really got me thinking. I got an Innokin Kroma-Z that comes with two coils (0.8 ohm loose MTL and 0.3 ohm RDL) I decided to try both coils with the same juice for comparison (something I recently made and love... it's a peanut butter banana pudding with vanilla wafers) The first coil (0.8) had great flavor but tended more towards the pudding/banana. The second coil (0.3) was also great but tended toward the peanut butter/cookie. Obviously, different juices taste different with different devices (and coils)... this can be good or bad depending on your style of vape and what flavor aspects are important. So... my second thought was that I can adjust my DIY recipes (% of each flavor) to compensate for this. For example: with the 0.3 ohm coil I might add a bit more banana and pudding. Anyway, any thoughts (or suggestions) on this? Fit the juice to the device or fit the device to the juice? Same thing for using different power (watts) for the same device/coil.

Finixx Kit, first impressions:
I immediately thought that Aspire had followed VooPoo by introducing a magnetic base 510 with adjustable AFC capable of hosting the famous "circular pods" already seen on the Aspire BP80. Not so, the circular tanks of BP80 (4.6ml) and Finixx (4.0ml), are not compatible, so they are not designed to be interchangeable.
Aspire is probably developing a more professional path than its competitors, releasing in the future other magnetic 510 Threads with adjustable AFC type "Air Hole" specific for MTL, able to house all its valuable circular tanks such as the Finixx PA12.

I find the Mod Finixx really fascinating, the factor form recalls the prestige of handcrafted creations, but it is also very similar to another Top Mod (Kroma-R), even the weight and dimensions are similar, however Aspire Finixx appears better finished Furthermore, the ASP circuit (self-produced) is richer in important functions than the competitor.



I received the exemplary Gunmetal coloring, in my opinion this and all the other color combinations (sober and elegant) add a touch of class to this new device.
The side view of the Finixx Mod shows a surface with a triple aspect, the first section embraces the front and connects with the lower and rear part of the mod, on one side it contains the writing "Finixx", on the other side it has the writing "Aspire ".
The central section is slightly hollowed and houses the back in liquid silicone for a comfortable grip.



The faceplate of Finixx Mod is made of darkened plastic, houses the large Fire button, the button is located in the upper part, protected from impact by a protrusion of the frame.
The 0.96 "color display is the central element, below we find the adjustment keys (+) and (-), the" Mode "key for quick access to the menu and the Type-C 5V / 2A charging socket.

The back is made for maximum ergonomics and tactile pleasure, the rounded lines of the frame perfectly integrate the liquid silicone element, in turn decorated with a slightly rough texture to the touch.



The stainless steel 510 cup is screwed to the frame via three French screws, the 510 thread houses a gold-plated, spring-loaded pin.

The lower part of the mod is screwed to the frame by two French screws, shows the disposal logo and the C E mark, centrally there is the stainless steel cap of the compartment / battery equipped with two abundant vents.

I know it hasn’t been long since I reviewed the Geyser S by VapX but yes I’m back again. I was also sent the VapX Geyser V1.5 kit with the S and have been using both at the same time since I received them. So obviously, today’s review is going to be covering the Geyser V1.5. I really feel like VapX is bringing some innovative designs to the market and look forward to seeing what the future holds. So, for now, let’s take a look at some pictures, features, and such to see if you might like the Geyser V1.5 as much as I have since receiving it.

First Impressions:

I’ll start with the packaging. There of course was the outer sleeve with a picture of the V1.5 that slides off but underneath was what I’ll call a flip up box lid that exposed a black cover with the VapX logo. Once I lifted that off, the very nice looking mod and accessories were available for viewing. The kit included the mod, two coils, one pod, a coil removal tool, USB-C charging cable, a rubberized 18650 battery adapter, and user manual. The battery adapter is included because this is in fact a 21700 mod.



The pod itself is unlike anything I’ve really seen before. It slides in from the top and is curved to meet the body of the mod. There is a sliding latch on the top of the mod that locks the pod in place and cannot be removed without releasing that latch. It has a removable drip tip which appears to be an 810 but the tip of my own that I tried on it was a loose fit. Perhaps my o rings were worn. The original Geyser 21700 had a flip open top for filling which I understand caused quite a bit of mess and is no longer a feature of this mod. It is now filled through a fill port on the side with a long rubber plug that is easily held back for filling. The pod itself is dark and for me was almost impossible to see the liquid level inside. I just filled slowly and watched for the liquid level to get close to the top of the fill hole. The only real downside of filling this pod is that the pod has to be removed in order to access the fill port.

The pod has dual honeycomb airflow that is adjusted by the half circles on the side that actually flip out to give you something to get a hold of to turn the adjustment and then folds back into place. Each side is independently adjustable which is nice for tweaking the airflow to your liking.







The mod itself is a pretty decent size since it is able to hold a 21700 battery but I was surprised how light it was even with the battery installed and the pod filled. The weight or lack of is due to the aerospace grade magnesium alloy of which it is made. The mod itself seems as big as some of the dual battery units I’ve used but is much lighter.

Like most other mods, the Geyser V1.5 is turned on and off with five clicks of the fire button. Of course the power adjustment is done with the + and – buttons. Three quick clicks of the fire button will take you into the Settings menu. From there, you can choose between the different modes which are Power, TC Ni, TC SS, TC Ti, TC TCR, VPC, and Bypass. Once selected, the mode will turn from red (selected) to white and be ready for use. Both of the coils included in the kit are KA1 so I was not able to try the TC modes. This is one thing I’ve wondered about on other kits and pods that I’ve reviewed. Why make the device capable of doing TC if you aren’t going to have coils for it? To reset the puff counter, press the fire button three times to enter the Settings, press it twice more to highlight the puffs and press the plus button to clear the puff count. If you would like to recall the count then you can press the plus button again and it will bring back the count.

The display on the front is similar to the Geyser S and looks familiar. The mode is at the top. Below that is the current wattage setting and then below that is the battery meter. In smaller type below that is Coil, Amp, Volt, and Puff. Below the display screen is the + and – buttons and above the screen is the large clicky fire button. The USB-C connection on this mod is on the right side when facing the display instead of below the fire buttons like the S model.

On the back of the unit is Geyser name molded into the plastic back. This is also where the battery is installed. The part of the cover where the Geyser name is molded is raised and you simply put a finger or thumb on that top ridge and pull down to expose the opening to install the battery. Inside the battery compartment it is clearly labeled with a red + on one end and a blue – on the other end.







The coils included in the kit are the Model 15s and 15d. The 15s is a single air mesh coil rated for 55-75 watts and the 15d is a dual air mesh coil rated for 60-70 watts. Both coils delivered what I consider to be excellent flavor and large amounts of vapor. However, I felt like the dual coil gave a much denser vapor than the single coil. It was definitely noticeable. I almost always run stock coils lower than recommended and that was the case with the dual coil which I found my sweet spot at 48 watts with both airflow controls turned vertical. The single coil I was able to find a comfortable setting at the minimum 55 watts.





Final thoughts:

I found the Geyser V1.5 to be very comfortable to hold. On the back above the battery cover sticks out some and has a slot cut into it for what I’m guessing is to attach a lanyard. I liked the part sticking out to rest my pointer finger against while thumb firing. It made it very comfortable to hold and I could tell if I was holding it correctly without looking.

Both coils were very good flavor producers but the 15d dual coil was my favorite and would be the one that I would choose to stock. The honeycomb airflow makes for a very smooth and flavorful vapor and is almost infinitely adjustable since both sides being able to be adjusted independently. The flip out levers for adjusting the airflow were a nice touch.

I found the included drip tip to be fairly comfortable to use. The latch system that holds the pod is a good set up and you never have to worry about it coming loose accidentally.

It made perfect sense to me that it uses a 21700 battery with the high wattage coils. I was able to get about 460 puffs with it set at 48 watts before needing to replace the battery and the 15d coil was still producing pretty good flavor.

If I had to pick one or two things to complain about on the Geyser V1.5 then it would be the placement of the fill port where you have to remove the pod to fill. That is inconvenient. Also, not being able to see the liquid level in the pod is not good and feel like VapX could easily remedy that. I would like to see a redesign of the pod where it is clear and a fill port is either on top or in the space below the drip tip.

Overall, it is a really good device. Would I recommend it? I think I would. No device that I’ve seen is perfect. The two minor inconveniences that I’ve mentioned wouldn’t keep me from purchasing it.

So I stopped using my DL devices due to stomach problems, doctor said it was putting pressure on a small hernia I have and also the deep lung inhales were irritating my stomach and esophagus.

So back to my Aspire Nautilus Mini tank with 1.8 coil around 13W

I've been using nic salts only as the buzz kicks in quicker and lasts longer for me.

Got a 3 pack of 10ml salts premix: Element 555 Tobacco 10mg. Element Honey roast tobacco 10mg.

Doozy dtv caramel tobacco 10mg.

This last one is a coil killer plain and simple. Can't get past a few drags before burnt taste. I'm along term vaper so know how to prime etc and was brand new coil. It's quite a Dark liquid and likely packed with sweeteners. So that's going in the bin. Shame as the first 5 puffs tasted great but after that it's coil burn city on the Nautilus mini.

Emptied out and ran some 80pg 20vg 88vape rolling leaf through it and that cleaned the coil. Vaped excellently and got rid of the burn taste but is not nic salts which I prefer and high PG is nasty to me, coats my tongue and leaves my mouth dry. Ick.

So next cleaned out my tank and tried the Element 555, still same coil. Vapes really well, like a champ, burns at 14W but is really a good vaper at 12.5 and 13W. BUT tastes like tea lol.

So my hopes are on the Element Honey Roast tobacco.

If that fails.... sigh...

Any recommendations for a nic salt, 50/50 10mg RY4 OR caramel tobacco that is not a coil killer like the doozy dtv caramel tobacco ....?

I keep my vaping storage area pretty cool during the winter, like low 60's F. I find getting the PG ratio and wicking just right is a big headache. I've started using a desktop heater to warm up my mod and tank.

I am curious if anyone else has tried this? I find it's been a tremendous help, especially if you don't want to use high PG.

One thing I notice though is with RTAs with the tank above the build deck, if you get it too close to the heater, juice pours out the airflow, so you have to be careful with that. I think it has to do with air pressure increasing in the tank as it heats up.

I have been mixing my own e-juice for awhile now and have not had any issues using my menthol flavor until now.

It keeps crystalizing on me. I tried higher PG base and that didn't help. What could be making this happen? My vape tank is half crystals every morning and I have to heat it up to dissolve them.

Review:

A very beautiful looking mod and very well made. The shining battery door makes it complete. On the leather pattern there is tiny ‘nipples’ sticking out that in my opinion don’t look very nice, but at a very nice grip to it. It is big, but still for my hands very ergonomically.





Don’t expect this to be a small box-mod, it is larger than your general dual 18650’s, it is bulky. It being bulky in this case does not mean it is heavy, it is actually very light (128g without batteries) for the size of the box. Vandy Vape themselves claim it is the lightest dual 21700 on the market, and I believe them.

Not much branding going on apart from the bottom of the device. Manufactured by Vandy Vape and the SMM logo has been added as this device is a corporation between Vandy Vape and Matt from SuckMyMod, one of my favorite youtube reviewers.



Vandy Vape decided to keep the area around the 510-connector straight and slightly wider than the rest of the top of the mod, which is a good choice. Because of this a 28mm tank fits on top of the device, if they would have not done that it would have been max 26mm. It does not bother me that the 510-connecter is not centralized, for thumb-fire it actually is better for me having it slightly closer to the front of the device. From my trying and poking the 510-pin it is not springloaded.

Slide, click and connect is what the battery door does. You simply slide it off and insert your 21700’s as shown on the clearly market image on the inside of the mod. Bottom pins are spring-loaded and top pins are flat, this helps a lot in not destroying your battery wraps. You do get two 18650 adapters, and they do the job, but for me it feels a bit award having to have two separate adapters inserted both in a different way. Sliding back the door it clicks into place on several places and additionally it is kept together with magnets. No battery rattle or door rattle, it sits in place very well. Rarely you might feel the door moving a tiny bit, but I had that only twice.







All three buttons are having a very nice click to them and they sit flush, no rattling. Like the fact that the buttons stick out quite a bit making it a comfortable fire, both thumb and index finger. They all react very well and have had no issues with them getting stuck or loose.



Vandy Vape claims the mod itself, specifically the chipset is waterproof. Did not go ahead and test it as this mod is too nice to break. If it is true what Vandy Vape says it would mean that if you drop your mod in the toilet your device should survive, your batteries are a different thing.

What I like most about the latest Vandy Vape devices is the chipset that it comes with, on this one it is very similar to my Pulse V2. A very nice, bright and vibrant screen that can be set to 6 different color themes. Best thing about the chip for me is that you have the possibility to mark/unmark the vaping modes you use, I don’t use TC, so I unmark it and whenever I am scrolling through the modes it just does not show on there, very nice.



There is lots of things going on inside the device, by holding the up and down button you get into this menu with quite some options. You can adjust brightness, change hibernate timing, reset puff counter, change between 6 color UI’s, see the version and serial number, receive a QR code to download the app and finally reset the device. Very nice to have so much control over a device.

Clicking the fire-button three times on the main screen allows the user to scroll between the different modes (which the user has selected in the settings menu), VW, TC, Bypass and so on. Click the fire-button 4 times brings you into a selection list where you can select preset vaping curve types, for example Normal, S, H, DHL, MTL and App (which means app-controlled curve).

Just like on the Pulse V2 you can connect it to the app and control it from your phone, nice addition, not a necessity in my opinion. If you are into getting high puff-counts than you will like this one as the maximum is a crazy amount of 999.999.



On the main screen for me everything that I need is displayed and have no trouble reading any of it. Nice that it has dual battery indication, something that not all dual-battery mods have. If I could improve a tiny thing on the main screen it would be the battery icons being a bit bigger, as there is an empty space in the top-right corner.

Conclusion:

A fantastic light-weight dual 21700 mod. Cannot find any negatives really for this device. If there is a couple of things I would add to my wish-list it would be larger battery icons on the main screen and a one single 18650 adapter instead of two separate sleeves.

If you are looking for a small mod then this is not the right choice, but if you are looking for a high-power and capacity mod then this one will definitely fit your needs. It does what it needs to do very well and it’s a comfortable mod.
