How to Fix Squid Industries Double-Barrel v3 Mod

Screen not turning on? Inconsistent firing? Not powering on and/or inconsistent power?

This is how I fixed mine and it may work on yours.

Disclaimer: Always attempt to contact Squid Industries warranty services first to see if they will replace it. You can find the email on their Instagram page. If that doesn't work, try what worked for me.

- Step 1: Remove batteries. Hold power button for 10 seconds.

- Step 2: Unscrew the 3 screws at the top. 2 are star-head and 1 is a very small Phillips head.

- Step 3: lightly push upwards on the fire button. If it will not come up, try reaching in the battery compartment and lightly pushing upwards with a finger or back end of a screwdriver.

- Step 4: Once the component is out, lightly separate the two halves by wiggling the pin connector out of the socket. Don't pull too hard. Don't want to rip out the wires which will stop from separating the two halves entirely.

- Step 5: Cleaning time. Dab off the majority of juice with a paper towel. Grab a soft toothbrush and a small cup with rubbing alcohol. Lightly brush the Alcohol over the visible surfaces. Wait until it dries. Repeat until it no longer seems oily after drying off (once or twice should do it).

- Step 6: Take a look at the red and black wire connected to the underside of the bit your tank/RDA screw into. Does the red wires rubber sleeve not cover either end of the wire? Can you see the metal wire? If you do, proceed to the next step.

- Step 7: See the black goop that is melted onto the underside covering the solder? Go ahead and carefully pull that off, as much as you can. Don't pull at the wire, just the black melted rubber goop that is over the solder.

- Step 8: Using your fingers or very lightly with a set of pliers or tweezers, stretch the red rubber sleeve over the exposed wire. Alternatively, if you are good with electrical tape, you can use that to cover up the exposed wire.

- Step 9: Grab an inch of electrical take and slap that over where the black goop was. Try to press it to the surface and wires as good as you can get it.

- Step 10: Make sure all the alcohol has dried and put it all back together. If you'd like, you can attempt to put a rubber band around the seam to prevent future juice from getting in (I didn't, but I thought of it afterwards).

If the juice was messing with it, it should work. If the power was shorting to ground, it should work. If it still does not work, contact Squid Industries and politely request to purchase a new chipset for $35 instead of buying a whole new vape.

Cigar Flavor Concentrate

MFS used to have a super cigar flavor concentrate but apparently they don't make it anymore.
I only had to add 2 or 3 drops to a 4 ml tank and it was a great cigar taste.

Does anyone know where I can find something similar?

I'm not looking for a recipe or store bought juice, just strong concentrate that actually tastes like a cigar.

Frist Day Vaping

Hi everyone.

Today is my first day ever vaping. I am not a former smoker, though I have smoked a bit here, and there including 60 in the last 2 months, I somehow never got addicted to nicotine.

A couple months ago, I passed by someone on my bicycle just as they exhaled a cloud of vape, and it really smelled great, and I imagined it'd taste great too. Though, at that time I was under the impression that all vapes contained nicotine, and because of that I knew it's best to not vape at all.

However I have recently learnt that there are nicotine free, 0mg nic, etc juices out there which do not contain nicotine.

Today I went to a vape store, told them I wanted to try vaping, but with no nicotine.

I got this Smok Novo, and a 30ml bottle of U-Turn Vanilla Mint Nicotine Free.

ynEgvvQ.jpg

Came to just under $40 Canadian, in total with the tax.

and lo and behold it vapes great, and the flavor is amazing, definitely nothing like cigarettes, it's actually a pleasure to "smoke".

Definitely going to try a few other flavors, and try around, this is something that can grow on me, as long as I stay with 0 nicotine juices.

As a noobie, I am surely going to be having lots of questions, but for now I just have 2.

Since this is a refillable pod system:

1. How many times on average can pods be refilled? (I am currently on the second fill of one pod, and it tastes all good right now, I also think the man at the store only poured in a little of the juice, not a full fill either for the first fill).

2. How much juice to pour in? Like 80% of it, until only a very small portion of the pod is not filled with liquid?

Thanks in advance, and Hi.

Getting back to vaping

I stopped for awhile, just came back about a week ago. I did do DIY before. I want to get nic base while i still can to get prepared. My question is who has good nic ? i think i used to order from wizzard labs, but its been a few years and i cant remember for sure. I see a bunch of posts saying some places are not very good quality. Just need to know where i should go through. Also would like to find a recipe close to one of my fav flavors.... Gorilla Warfare .45. Its Sour Blue Raspberry Peach Tea. I'm going to continue looking through posts to see what i can find. Thanx in advance.

Falcon 2

So i really love this tank. It had great flavor. I've used both coils it came with and they both got muted flavor after just a couple refills. No dry hits or anything. Coil still even looks really clean, but the flavor went from amazing to hardly any flavor at all faster than any coil ive ever seen. Ive never even had a dud baby beast coil crap the bed this fast.

Smok Novo X Review

Hi,

Today I have the newest version of the well known Novo, the Novo X. Main differences are the screen, wattage adjustability and battery capacity compared to its earlier versions.

Thank you @SMOK_Sophia for sending me this kit for review!

Specifications:

Packaging:

1 x Novo X Device
2 x 0.8ohm Novo X DC MTL Pod
1 x MicroUSB Cable
1 x User Manual
1x Warranty card

Review:

About the packaging I do not really understand why two of the exact same pods are includes. There is other pod options, so why not include two different pods so the user can experiment?

On the package it says stabilizing wood, but of course it is not made out of stab wood (would have been cool), it is simply the color that is called black stabilizing wood. Whole device seems to be made from plastic, but does not have a cheap feel to me, feels solid. Some branding on both sides, SMOK on the front and on the back Novo X, 800mAh, CE and the 'container' icon. Not overwhelming at all.

It is a regular pod size device, a bit bigger than the regular Novo. It lays nice in the hand and fits anywhere you want to put it (don't get me wrong). Portable, small and comfortable.

Airflow comes in through the sides, on the device there are two carve outs made on each side of the device. There are unfortunately no airflow adjustments.

I like when pods can stand up straight, but this one does not want to. That is because of the USB-c connector being on the bottom and the edges are rounded.

Pods click very strongly into place and it seems to be a combination of magnets and locking system, it fits in there really tight and does not wiggle. There is not really a way to define the liquid level as it is fully inserted inside the pod. There is a tiny transparent sleeve under the black mouthpiece, but that only shows the top part of the tank, pity.

Filling up the pods is no issues at all, easily accessible plug on the side which uncover a large fill hole. No issues with air bubbles while filling which is always a relieve.

Not a big fan of the mouth piece, the flatter surface does fit well into my mouth, but it just does not fit for me on a MTL device, it is too wide for that.

It has something the regular Novo did not have, a screen. It is small, but for me it is large enough to get all the details from it. Have to say it is also very bright for such small device. I think the details SMOK chose to display are not entirely the right ones. There is no puff counter for example. For me the resistance reader is quite useless as this for a pod of this size with only replaceable pods is not relevant, also all pods have the same resistance. Would have been better if in place of the resistance the puff counter was placed.

There is just one button to navigate and it is a tiny one. This button is used to turn on/off (5 clicks) and adjust the wattage by clicking 2 or 3 times to get into change mode and then each click puts up the wattage by 0.5 increments. Once reaching 25w it goes back to 1w.

No fire-button, just draw activation. Overall it performs well, but for me it needs a stronger pull than I am used to before it starts firing. That is because of too much airflow, to which I will come back soon.

If it is about the vape quality, it is good. Flavor is proper for a pod and the coils hold up well with chain vaping. These coils have quite a wide range of wattage from 12-25, and it works well on each one of them. For me 18 watts is about the right output giving me a not too warm or cold vape. If you like a warmer vape you could go higher, and colder obviously lower.

There for me is just a bit too much airflow for the type of MTL vape I like. When I hold my finger on one of the airflow inlets on the device it is close to perfect. Then also the draw activation reacts much better.

Not able to say how many puffs I get out of one charge, but at 18W it gets me almost through the entire day. Charging the device takes about 60-65 minutes. Would have been nice to have USB-c, might have helped with the charging speed a bit.

Conclusion:

Like using this pod as my nicotine deliverer when out of home. It is portable, feels solid and simply vapes very well.

There is some adjustments I would make and then especially with the airflow. It should be either tighter or adjustable. And a puff counter is missing, the ohm reader is useless, puff counter could have been in place of the ohm reader.

This is a nice inexpensive pod for those that like a looser type of draw and look for something small, but power adjustable. For around 25-30$ you will be able to find it online.

Thank you,

Sjoerd

Well folks as you have seen in the opening picture Voopoo went all out with this kit. When I opened it up and saw it included the RTA Pod I was a happy camper because I really hoped Voopoo would someday send it for review.

As I said earlier todays review will be focused on the Drag Max and the RTA Pod because I've covered the PNP Pods in other reviews so lets start with the Drag Max first. Basically the Drag Max is a Drag X with more power because this is a dual 18650 battery device instead of the single in the Drag X and now takes the shape of a dedicated box mod with a new display menu and 2 different display theme interfaces called IRON and CORE with IRON being used in portrait position and CORE being used in landscape position.

IRON INTERFACE THEME

20201004_131703.jpg

CORE INTERFACE THEME

20201004_135613.jpg

Both displays are very bright and vivid with your information placed in different locations on each one. I personally don't have a favorite liking both themes equally the same. The Drag Max uses Type-C for it's USB connection and is located under the adjustment buttons below the display screen.

There really is no menu because the Drag Max is a wattage only device not even bypass is offered which makes it very simple to operate. There are a couple of button combinations used for a couple things, one being pressing and holding down both the up and down buttons at the same time brings the theme screen up and pressing either adjustment button will move you to the other theme then hold the power button for 2 seconds to change themes.

Holding down the power and minus button will clear your puffs on the puff counter. You can also lock the device but only the whole device not just the adjustment buttons by pressing and holding the power and plus button at the same time. I really wish Voopoo would change this to wattage only lock because locking the whole device makes no sense at all. A simple 5 clicks of the power button turns the device both on or off.

That's a very simple easy bare bones of a menu and since I only vape in wattage mode I have less things to go through, but still wish there was a wattage adjustment lock only.

The Drag Max uses the same proven airflow selector as the Drag X and it performs just as well on the Drag Max giving a very nice range of adjustment that is smooth, whistle free and relatively quiet. The post in front has just the right amount of resistance when adjusting.

20201004_122248.jpg

I'm glad that Voopoo has kept the theme of wrapping their devices in leather, it really gives the device a bold, clean and very upscaled look. I'm also surprised on the weight of the Drag Max, I don't think it's light but lighter than most dual 18650 devices.

20201004_115051.jpg

The battery door is located on the bottom of the device and seems to be solid and holding tight, never opening on me unless I opened it myself. Battery polarity is only marked on the door itself , no plus and minus markings inside the device.

20201004_185237.jpg

The build deck of the RTA Pod is very easy to build on and the coil almost seats itself under the post screws. Wicking is also a easy task on this Pod with large wick slots.

20201004_100356.jpg

There is a small negative with the RTA Pod and can be a real pain if not done correctly. The fill port for your juice is small and if you try to fill the tank quickly you will end up with a mess. Use the smallest tip bottle preferably one with a narrow tip and fill the Pod with the bottle tip on one side so air can escape when filling.

20201004_103713.jpg

Because the mouth opening is fairly wide bore and your coil is less than 1/2 inch away from your lips you can also use it as a RDA.

20201004_104842.jpg

FINAL THOUGHTS

Well folks the Drag Max has been a problem free device in the couple of weeks I've used it and must say the new themes look great having all the information laid out well. The PNP Pods performed as they always do as well as the many coils that Voopoo provided in this great kit.

I really like the RTA Pod and have been using it daily . I forgot to mention that the wattage adjustment scrolling is fast also. Airflow is still the same as the Drag X which is a proven winner. I like everything in this kit but wish on future devices that Voopoo would give the option of locking only wattage adjustments and not the entire device. The only other thing I had to adjust to was the filling method of the RTA Pod because of the size of the fill port. I will continue to use the Drag Max as well as everything in this beast of a kit. I think the Drag Max is another winner for Voopoo.

20201004_192015.jpg

I would like to thank Judy and Voopoo for sending the Drag Max Limited Edition Kit for review and I also hope some of you folks were able to get one for yourselves, it really has everything you could want and everything in it is a proven winner.

THANK YOU
BIGBOB2322

I've had three Podsticks, and they've all failed at the USB charging port. Two of them eventually developed something like a short. You have to move the cable up and down to make it start charging. The third one got so hot during charging, the plastic end cap started to melt. Has anyone else run into these problems?

MTL RTA Coil Gauge

Is there an ideal wire gauge for MTL vaping (for flavor)? I see people saying 30-32gauge gives them a cooler vape with better flavor, and some saying they use 26 gauge and get great flavor.

I’m currently using 28 gauge SS316L - I am getting pretty good flavor, but I’d obviously love to get more. The BP Mods Pioneer has a shorter bell than my other RTA’s, and I’m using the 1mm airflow pin with the 6mtl holes selected.

I tried using 2mm ID coils, but I didn’t like how tight the draw was, so I’m looking to make 2.5ID coils that I can vape at low wattages.

They suggest >= .65 ohms and <= 20 watts. My current set up is 7-8 wraps which gives me .8ish ohms and I vape in wattage mode around 15-20 watts (I can’t get TC to work well for me, so I’ve dismissed it for now). I think I’d like to be able to get my watts lower, because my battery life isn’t the greatest on my Aegis Mini.

28 gauge is already pretty thin, and I just ordered some rayon to try instead of the cotton I’ve been using. I’m not sure if I should get the 30, or 32 (and maybe make a twisted coil since it would be so thin)?

I really don’t like a warm vape and I read that 26 gauge would get a lot hotter in a smaller bell, so I don’t think I will order that, but I would love some insight on what you guys think would give me max flavor with my current set up.
