There was an explanation in the evolv threads from Evolv as to why there is no power off. Don't recall the exact reasoning but believe the chip is doing a few things while it is in sleep mode. Think it goes into deep sleep after 60 minutes?
Yes. The same system since their DNA20 and there haven't been mass reports of burning pants pockets. Get over it.

My 18650 Boxer DNA133 was due to arrive today ... but the USPS decided they wanted to tease and torment me and rescheduled until tomorrow.

OOH TORMENT .. the postman DID bring it today even though USPS still says tomorrow revised.

BUT ..

https://goo.gl/photos/zb8WCeLS9Y326PMs6

The screen is partially detached ... I set it back in the shipping box until I hear back from GV on how to proceed. It's also well off center on both axis relative to the screen size.

:-(

I don't want to try to take the battery backer off to try to push the screen from behind, I can't even see how to remove the battery backer.

BTW - MAGNETS ... this one had magnets. -Mags

I had EXACLY same problem (also my up/down buttons work REALLY hard if not at all). GV asked me to send it back to fix it. Its back with me now and work as a charm but... have no clue how the heck its possible to send ''wrong-assembled'' box to customer. <bit shame on u GV>

Really? I haven't powered the unit on - nor will I. It's going back to GV tomorrow.

They did provide a tip on how to try to fix it but that didn't work out. Based on their description and picture, I'm wondering if the Evolv board itself was lop-sided.

For a $275 + tax + shipping box - I'm very non-plussed by this being both my first purchased Ginger/Boxer and Evolv experience.

:-/

p.s. The weight and size of this thing is amazing though. Too bad I can't use it.

I'd be willing to bet the issue has nothing to do with the board itself and is due to hasty assembly.

Don't even know how/if it'd be possible for a board to be 'lopsided' in a way that effected screen mounting since the screen is on a flexible ribbon.

Hopefully Ginger will make it right, though it sucks you have to wait longer.

Best of luck!

This was the first Ginger response ..

That is very odd. The screen sits into a holder which is attached to the chip. It is a flat surface so that it will insure the screen sits flush and perfectly with the unit.

I have enclosed a picture of the inside. You should see the 2 circled holders along both sides of the chip. This is the the attachment to this chip of this piece. Its possible that somehow the top portion of this holder got detached from the chip? It snaps on and would be tough to simply fall off, but obviously your unit somehow did.

You can see if you can simply snap it back into place, but of course if you are unable to or would like us to correct the issue instead, we will gladly do so. We can have the unit back out to you the same day we receive it back.

I have no idea what's on the other side of the board as the DIY don't show me a visual to that extent. I'm curious what the end-result is.

I'm sure GV will repair it but I'm disappointed at this bespoke price-point. Oh well. -Mags

Hmm as I said I had same problem and when I get through it once again it gave me some idea.

Screen is ''glued'' to some funky frame, so is it possible that our BOXERS are assembled when its still ''flexible''? (just idea) Maybe that kind of material is pulling back screen when is getting colder (harder)? IDK

Its not coincidence.

Ahh, i thought that they were inferring the chip itself was somehow produced lopsided, which is VERY unlikely.

After reading the DIY info/looking at the picture they mention the screen is held to the 'screen holder' via tape or silicone then that must be attached to the board/enclosure via the clips, sounds like either the tape/adhesive didn't hold or the screen holder itself has become partially unhooked.

Hopefully it should be an easy fix but completely understand your frustration, a $275 mod should be essentially perfect.

I've built one before and am about to build another for a friend.

Its not the easiest of methods and would be better if Evolv had attached the screen to the chip like yihi does, but this method does give people the option to install the screen in other locations as how VS places theirs on the bottom.

Here's a picture of that holder. The screen fits exactly into the cutout with an opening up top for the cable. Its a secure fit and don't even think it would move without the tape or glue. Thats probably just needed so that it wont pop out before you screw the chip in to the mod. Once it's screwed in, the screen does not move at all. Forms a seal with the enclosure and becomes locked in.

Maybe your screen is cracked and you can't see it without turning the unit on?

That's VERY interesting - how does this little rig connect to the inside of the case? Because the screen is not cracked, there is a solid 2mm gap at the 'top' with the screen recessed at one end and flush to the front of the case at the other. And the gap is all away around and not just the viewable portion of the screen. The way Ginger responded it sounded like the board wasn't snapped all the way in but it sure seems like it is. That picture you post though shows something else entirely. DIY vs built option?

Based on that picture you provide and that little corner - if it's the same design in the build, this makes no sense at all unless some piece of this is warped or the whole mounted board area is at an angle. Given the screws and the TIGHT fit, that doesn't seem right either.

I'm at a loss - Ginger will sort it out to be sure. Given that @cimon had the same experience, it must be a repeatable one .. -Mags
