Don't want to endanger my lurker status, but I'm getting worried. Due to my schedule I won't have time to do anything until Friday. Hope it will be enough. [emoji32]
Please, please do what you need to do! I'm sitting here, surrounded by Harvey aftermath & people who haven't been through a major hurricane & didn't prepare, or heed the warnings.

I work for a public utility. I'm lucky enough people volunteered for hurricane duty so I don't have to work it.

My problem is that I live alone in an old house. Lots of work to do, and the cats aren't very helpful. [emoji75]

Thanks for the well wishes, the track has been moving around a little. I hope it moves a little more because one of those big dots is just about over my house. [emoji79]

I will definitely be praying for you and that the track moves east far enough.

Probably start pulling things in from the pool area tonight. Pole skimmers, pool umbrella, pool hose and the water toys.

Just a lil' hint here, I toss all my pool furniture (sans cushions) and equipment into da pool <think 'bout it, fish survive storms>. BTW, dey do come out clean!

If need be, I may even toss my bride, wid mask/snorkel of course, in dere...

OK, OK... don't think dat will happen... <Yes, Dear... be right in...>

50%, so do we, our friend! Just prioritize your 'to do' list. Do wish I was closer to assist...

Thank you all for the kind thoughts and prayers. I have lived in South Florida most of my life and have weathered (pun intended) enough major storms to know what I'm in for.

Short version: I'm screwed (hope I can say that), but I will come out the other end all right. Lot of work and some property damage, but no major injuries or losses. Or so I pray.

Do ya'll have helmets to wear if your staying? Reason why I asked is that we do for tornadoes and I do put it when I go to my safe space.

We have stuff planned out as far as timing goes and everything should be done a couple of days before landfall.

Robin make sure you have good leather or cut resistant gloves on when you put up those shutters and watch the corners on them too please, have you counted your wing nuts yet ?

    @halfempty . . .

Really couldn't "like" your fist post . . . AND - Although I do understand that you're a public servant, however given your status (single/alone - except for those lazy felines) can't "You" just take the day off or would there be unacceptable repercussions ? ? ? Either way, I do wish "YOU" the best and am sending GOOD VIBES your way . . .

Even discussed with the Friends I'm going to be with - Given what they are saying now and "Irma" going directly over "Us" (Ft Lauderdale/WPB) if it wouldn't be better for "Us" to get out of dodge, especially since JetBlue is keeping pricing down to $99 so Floridians can leave . . .

    But they said - NO . . . :(

If you are going to leave, the airplane looks like a good way to travel.
I've been told I95 and I75 are bumper to bumper...

I just saw video from friends and they were at a stand still. Ocala is out of gas too from what was said.

I'm sorry, I'm a wus. We bailed ahead of Matthew a day (or maybe two) before they made it mandatory where our place is. One neighbor 4 houses to the north stayed. He posted some vids on FB. At first, he was like, "No big deal". But then the ocean started coming across the dunes, and he began to sound like he was in dire need of a change of underwear.

We're not there right now, but if we were, we'd be leaving tomorrow at the latest.

As it stands, the guys who've worked on fixing my house off and on for the last 10 months will be there tomorrow getting everything that can be moved from the first floor up to the second.

All you folks who are staying... I wish you well.
