A question, about the tank. Is it the Ego One Mega? And will the fasttech clr heads fit it properly (and if not, where to find the right rebuildable heads - not in the US)?

Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk

Yes Ego One Mega. Don't know about coil heads though sorry

If the lipo swells up you run :)

Joking aside, Lipos that are soft or seem swollen are not to be used.
Oh, you do the same as we do at our field? :D

Funny how everybody runs from swelling lipos that look like a grey watermelon... Survival of the fittest heh? ;)

Seriously, the most intense and spectacular fires at our field have been always with jets and rarely lipos... They puff, burn, smoke and it's over.

When a jets burns... Run... JetA1 fuel is like napalm. Once we had half the field set on fire by a crashed F16 model... High summer, dry grass = wild fire.

Imagine when the cops arrived and asked if we had seen a falling meteor that was reported... Meteor? Yeah, yeah, that was probably it... Lol...

Tony

yeah, i know, but so many negative observations, that i'm sure it would make me think twice before buying it. I know you are just testing it really good, and i'm really happy you do it (especially bloke and you Tony), but i guess i read 10 times about ticking sound, and people saying it must be a bomb or something :p another guy wrote how his device reads standby temp at 100'C as soon as he activates it, which must mean that its off by 70'C, and so on..

i don't know, maybe its just me, but i usually do a lot of research before buying stuff. i just remembered how i delayed my first vape buy in 2008, because i read too many of such comments here on ecf.

Yep that guy was me, first "click" in the morning always shows 100ºC.... well i still don't think that with a 0.5 sec. pulse i can get a res to 100ºC. If that was the case this device was unusable for vaping.

I ordered the whole Evic vt set so I'm getting the atty as well. Hoping that the clr heads will make it useable.

Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
well, they are not that expensive, so i'd say try them so you can decide for yourself. They surely wick much better, but the tank is still too noisy for me, and the taste is not up there with my lemo and rda's. If you're new in subohm world, i think you'll like them until you buy a subtank or something even better..than its gonna be shelf time :D

I've heard that clicking too. Interesting thing, it only happened when I attached a couple of crocodile clips to the atty screws to try and measure voltage. Those crocodile clips also caused a short, reducing atomizer resistance (as displayed on screen) to 0.05Ω one time

So.. could the clicks be related to a short? Perhaps coincidental, not sure yet.. will update if/when I hear them again. I definitely have not heard them any other time thus far

so how long does it take to get to your temp limit if you don't vape, just holding the button?

Oh I have Subtank Minis (and ordered a new black one), Nanos, Foggers, Aquas (v1 and v2), a Goblin, and several more, including a bunch of RDAs (never cared much for those though) :)

oh, then i wouldn't bother with clr's. I really wanted to make it work, tried ni, ti builds..they vape ok-ish, but if you have all those tanks, i'm pretty sure you're better of saving those 10 bucks for goblin mini or something else that we haven't tested yet..:D

The tank just looks really good on the VT. Makes me miss the aesthetics of my mech mods :)

it should be clicking, bloke, but you can only hear it if you put it close to your ear. Although, once i just put the atty on and didn't screw it in..then it was much louder..?

yeah, it sure does..what color evic do you have? I'm guessing black and white could look good with new subtanks?

And just go for those clr's. I know exactly how you feel; gotta see for yourself that they really suck, right? I'm the same in that way :D but maybe you will like them..nah, you won't :p

I was really enticed by the orange/yellow one, but ordered the black (thinking the black subtank, or my black fogger v5, will look good on it). I'm determined to get the Ego one mega and the clr coils working :) Won't get the mod/atty in a long while though, just ordered it so it'll be a month or so.

So, err.. Yeah. Firstly, for the moment please discount my earlier "quick findings" - they don't match the "slower" findings, and so I won't vouch for them any more. This time I re-tested on the DNA 40 with probe in place, confirming it matched my earlier results, before starting this test. So I am confident of probe positioning for these new results.

I made a graph. Sorry in advance..

I will say that the whole "hold down fire as long as possible on a dry coil, re-pressing fire to avoid timeout" is hardly a realistic world test. But it's one the DNA 40 passes admirably - even with Titanium, which it wasn't even designed for.

You can clearly see where I pressed fire each time, it's the huge lurch upwards every ~ 9 seconds.

So I can forgive that somewhat. What I find harder to forgive - let alone understand - is why one re-press of fire might go upwards 5°C, and another a few seconds later, 20°C.

Clearly more testing is needed. But it's not looking so great thus far.

Does this mean it can't give a satisfying TC vape? Not at all. Maybe the way it's been designed really sucks with dry coil/constant heating situations, but performs better in a real life vape. I will endaevour to test that later.

Alone they are not higher than 1500 mah. But together is a different story. (Note the pack is labled 5000 mah.)

Its been determined previously in other threads that running either stacked or series will give the same boost in longevity. Just a slightly different discharge method to reach the same end gain.

Just to note this is the same argument I've been up against for eternity. They do last longer in practice. Not many have agreed with me, but in testing it does every time.

This is only related to boost/buck, bucking circuitry is more efficient. In a mechanical stacked batteries (in parallel) offer more battery life only because of more mAh, in series the amperage draw of the coil per ohm becomes more complex but amp for amp it's still the same draw and battery life.

Towards the end of the 190°C line, from seconds 113 onwards or thereabouts, it does get somewhat accurate - moving between 187°C and 191°C fairly regularly, just the re-press fire causing it to jump up and down between .

If it did that the whole time for all temps, it'd be pretty OK - not 100% accurate, but +/- 2 or 3°C which is fine.

So why is it so weird the rest of the time? Why does it jump like a madman most of the time, but then settle down later - at least on one of the runs?

Clearly there's something odd going on.. more testing needed for sure.

With all the talk of the evic-vt not working great in TC, glad I didn't buy it for TC, only used in normal power mode and has been working great for me, tried some TC coils on my IPV4 and did find the flavor slightly better, but nothing to make me want to go to TC full time, I'll stick with my kanthal builds for now :)
