Probably should have left them in the dark but thought I'd at least try to bring them into the light re rayon wick. Might not go as intended but not because I didn't try. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/rta/634516-attack-kayfun-v4-clones-345.html#post15555250

I saw the post you referred to, which led me here to this thread. I am ready to come into the light :D

I am currently wicking with Ekowool, mostly because I can dry burn it and change flavors easily. I have been using it for almost 2 years, and have been pretty happy with it, although I know I take a flavor hit. I did have a foray into cotton balls and organic cotton sheets, for a brief period, but was never happy with them so I went back to the Ekowool. I am not a cloud chaser, and all I need is the best nicotine delivery system possible. I am ready to give Rayon a try, but don't really have time to go through 1180+ pages of this thread right now.

That said, can anyone recommend a place to pick up a small quantity of Rayon to try? from the 30 or 40 pages here that I have gone through, I see there are many different variants of Rayon, I can't determine though which are the better variants, can you give any quick advice on how to select one? I *think* I understand that cellucotton (sp?) is also a variant of Rayon ??? If that is in fact correct, is it any better than traditional Rayon?

Ideally, a Rayon variant that I can find locally (CVS, Michaels, WalMart, Target, etc.) is what I would prefer, but I am not opposed to ordering it if local sourcing is just not possible. I am not willing to start playing with pill bottles though, I prefer to purchase something that I "know" is marketed as pure Rayon. I have called all the local shops I know of, but no one has any Rayon, Japanese cotton is the big thing here, it's all anyone carries.

Thanks in advance, I can't wait to try this out!

If you'd like to try it, PM me an addy and I'll get some out to you, pronto. No charge, I'd consider it my pleasure to introduce you to it.

Seems not many vape shops carry it. Many of us get "Graham" brand rayon from "Sally's", they're a beauty shop supplier that have b&ms in many cities and towns across the US. The boxes they usually carry are 500 feet- which will supply you and all your vaping friends for YEARS. Cost is around $15.00. There's also a 40 foot box but it's usually not carried, although the store may order it for you.

Should you decide to buy it from Sallys (or online for that matter) just be sure to get rayon and not cotton- Graham makes both and the boxes look very similar. I don't have a photo, but I'll bet someone will see this and post a photo of what box to look for.

These are numbers for the various quantities of Graham rayon:

Code#.........Size
44040.........1200 Ft.
44043.........3 Lbs.
44060.........500 Ft.
44130.........40 Ft./Box

PM sent ... I am really looking forward to trying this out! If it works well for me, then I will head over to Sally's for a box ... there is one not too far from where I live. I don't know that I need 1000' of the stuff, but if it's all they have, I will have enough to hand out for others to try as well. :) Is it safe to assume Rayon needs to be boiled and air dried before use? I am guessing this is NOT sold as a "Sterile" or medical grade product.

I will probably keep a small supply of Ekowool on hand for my drippers, I only use them really for tasting new flavors, and the dry burning is quick and easy to try something new at the local shop. I don't think (at least from what I have read so far) that Rayon can be dry burned.

Thank you ever so much for the info and assistance, I really appreciate it!

All you can do is mention it, I find leaving it at that is best... Otherwise we come off pushy, dare I say cult like.;)

They dont understand it.. and if have tried it, probably without good direction of how to use it.

Go back to the beginning of this thread, my stance is - fine - they don't know what thier missing and its not my job to help them. You can't help someone that doesn't want to be helped.

No need to boil rayon. It's good as it comes. There is only one rule: wash your hands before manipulating rayon because otherwise it will absorb your hand odors/ oils and it will taste funny for a few drags while you vape your hand oils [emoji14]

I don't know of you have experience with regular cotton. If you don't, great. If you have, rayon is wicked quite more snug than cotton. Rayon doesn't expand or bloat like cotton so you can stuff that coil like a turkey :D

Welcome! We will do all we can to help you!

Samples can be found on eBay and the likes, just make sure they say 100% rayon.

We also have many member that are also willing to send samples to you.

Nicotine delivery is one of its biggest benefits.:)

You can boil it if you want, but you don't need to.

You can dry burn Rayon, but only to a degree. I used to just dry burn out juices that I didn't like... I didn't have a problem and it was normally the gunk on a coil that ignited before anything else. You can dry burn the coil to the point that the Rayon will burn though if you try.

I don't boil rayon but that's just me. I know there are others who don't but that said I don't see anything wrong w/it- and if it makes you feel better, by all means do it!

I see nothing wrong w/keeping the Ecowool around and I would advise anyone who is switching to rayon to do just that. Just like many things- there are those who like it and some who never seem to get a handle on it. This is more from becoming habituated to cotton I believe, and if you've been using EW, that just means you'll have less cotton habits to "unlearn". The main things to keep in mind is the coil needs to be filled tighter with rayon because unlike cotton that swells, rayon actually settles some and if the coil isn't filled enough, when the wick is wetted w/juice, it may be a bit loose. A loose rayon wick can give a harsh hit from the juice burning off the coil- you're not tasting the wick burning. You can go too tight, this mutes the flavor and has a tell-tail "nutty" taste. The nutty taste may subside after a few pulls if it's not too tight.

The other thing is the tails need to be thinner than what most people wick with cotton use. Tails too thick causes the juice to be pulled away from the coil and this increases the coil gunking. You'll probably have questions after you try it, feel free to post them here.

Another benefit is that it doesn't hold juices, they will vaporize out and the new flavor will take over after a short time.. Even just dripping some unflavored between will flush the old flavor out.

Here's a couple links for you..

Hello & welcome..

The differences in the different rayons we have available is small but noticeable to the trained eye.

My ranking is pharmaceutical, balls, CCr

Sally's cellucotton rayon is readily available and cheap. Its the easiest to work with due to its rope style and the largest quantity. It has some small knots randomly. Its rayon and it works as intended.
Graham CelluCotton Cotton Coil

The rayon balls are quality fiber. Better than sallys on a fiber level. Being balls they are not as easy to work with, but once unrolled are nice even strands with no knots. The fiber is slightly better quality, and would have received an extra wash for medical use. More sheen to the fiber than others. The cost is a little higher.

Tidi large rayon balls are great, bigger balls. More fiber per unroll. 1000 large for 15 + 13 shipping.. Its a ton, like a huge box, some pics have been posted before.. TIDI Cotton and Rayon Balls - MedSupplier.com

Delascos medium rayon balls, from consumer catalog. 200 for 3.50 + 7 shipping.
Delasco - Rayon Balls

The pharmaceutical/ bottle rayon is top notch. Possibly the best.. Great quality, even clean fibers. Easy to work with and pure. USP quality. Seems to stay the fluffiest to me. Only good source is the small bottle quantity.

Walmart - spring valley meletonin *1mg size has rayon filler.(others don't) Enough for 20+ wicks easily. Great sample to try it out... Even more readily available than Sally's. Theres a Walmart on about every corner now..
Cost - $4.00

Walmart version no longer available... Many samples of cellucotton rayon are available on ebay

Thanks to everyone for all the great info! I have been poking through the thread randomly, and someday I may actually start at the beginning of this novel ... er ... thread ... :)

Check out JeremyR's blogs. All the important stuff's in there, unless you really like a drama filled read.
