on that note, do you think Waidea will get to release their version of squonker with recent developments? Didnt know they were working on it..
The only recent development we had was fasttech delisted all their flasks two weeks after listing them for the second time without explanation. Took hours to stumble across the real reason in a discussion thread and that had to do with a patent specifically on Vapor Shark. For all we know they dumped the flasks because the supplier could not keep up with demand & they decided it was not worth screwing around with them.

Don't read too much into that. fasttech has not ever been a major player in selling temperature controlled flasks since they were introduced. You are all acting like china decided to stop cloning all vaping products two days ago.

Didn't happen!

I've recently had that happen to me with a few of my nickel coils, where there were hot spots on the coil. I ripped them out and started over from scratch. I don't know what was cause a tiny portion of the coil to glow. I stopped using a 3.5mm mandrel to wrap my coils(larger diameter coil=less wraps) and went back to my usual 2.5 - 3.0mm. And thought maybe there was a bad section (impurities in the wire) wire in my ni200 spool. So I unspooled about a foot from the spool and tossed it in the garbage. Hasn't happened since. Knock on wood.
Ya, I'm gonna play with it some tonight and see if I can't get a working coil

didn't know you could post something like that in the classies

You can post anything, but since it's a clone they'll remove it and give you a warning for posting counterfeit merchandise regardless of whether it has different parts and markings than the original.

...but they allow clones that were modified for bottom feeding (atty). I don't think they fully understand their own rules lol

I've exchanged a couple of emails with Doris @ Focal this morning. She replied to my asking them to stock it, and said (as she did with funkyrudi) that the price would be too high.

I asked "what price?" and she said it would be higher than FT, but I replied to her and said we understood it would be higher than FT and that that was OK, it was worth anything up to $80 worst case.

She replied and said they will ask for samples if they get more requests.

So guys, if you want an SXK flask, do email Doris. @sonicbomb @yo han @funkyrudi And anyone else.

She is already taking it seriously (see below), but the more requests the more she'll understand demand.

Added: she replied again a few minutes later and said she had now contacted SXK and they were out of the stock at the moment and that she would contact me again when they were in stock/'stock is stable'.

And then she said "we are taking this seriously"

PS. My original version of this post quoted a price she quoted to me. Then she replied again asking me not to share it "because we don't want to disappoint vapers." If you saw my post before the edit, please honour that and don't mention it. I will just say that the price she quoted to me was higher than FT but fine given what the device is.
Done. Doris will follow up the SXK TC mods this week.

Still loving my SXK flask from FT. I have been using the Kanger OCC nickel heads & they are ok. Not that impressed with them that much. They don't seem to work consistently. I have some ni200 on the way. Really interested to see how it performs vs the OCCs.
BTW - i just emailed Doris at Focal & told her how much I love the SXK & ask her to keep trying to get them. Hopefully this will help.

Just giving the warning I got when I posted my no-logo Hana 50w clone - another member told me it wouldn't fly but I followed the rules as they are written, but the post was removed anyway. Can't blame them for being careful, but figured I'd pass the warning along.

Ok fellow flaskers. I retrofit my waidea vapor flask with a genuine dna40 and spring loaded FDV 510 pin with the single slot 510 connector.

Everything works great including the spring loaded 510!
This one was different from my infinite flask inside. There is no center compartment "sled" like in the infinite. The waidea has a tray on top only. And no funky breakout board for the up/down buttons (thank god).

The mating sides of the top plate and chassis were already sanded to bare metal.

The RAYN board has a separate battery board where each + lead for the battery's get connected and then get routed back to the main board. No clue what that does, but I think it has 2 mosfets. Not sure if that's to balance charging or balance drain or what? I removed it and did not use it on the DNA40.

I did take pictures of the dna40 board wired in.. Well I thought I did but they didn't show up in my camera roll when I went to upload them. Not sure how that happened. (doh!)

*note on the 510. I ordered 3 kinds from FDV and he does not label them. :(
The 510 pin, this is a fat daddy Vapes v4 (?) and the blue plastic piece does screw right into the existing 510 connector, but the brass fitting that holds the spring is press fit and came apart. so I soldered it together like you would a copper pipe in plumbing. Worked great. I taped the tops of the battery contact boards to prevent shorting, though I don't think it's long enough to short even fully extended.

Hey @Phone Guy did you ever figure what FDV parts fit inside the existing 510 on the Waidea? I'd like to get rid of the FDV V4 short I used and reuse the original for aesthetics. Can you take a picture of your 510(I don't expect you to take it apart, a top shot pic of the 510 will do).

Phone guy used a v4 short core in there & it screwed right in. I contacted FDV to see if I could order just the cores with no real answer. They just said they only sell the V3 short cores separately because Vapor Flask themselves buy them that way.

He posted pics when he did it about 8 to 10 pages back maybe?

EDIT: it was page 179!

I picked up one of the Kangxin's from the FC sale. Looking forward to it.
Every time I go to Focal I wind up with the Kangxin, 18350/18650 Microstick, 18500 Microstick, the Smokeless Owl Bottom Feeder & the 26650 Aluminum Black Oak Mod in my cart but have fortunately managed to resist checking out long enough for my cart to time out & clear itself out. $150 saved each time!

slightly OT I guess but I just received the SXK VS clone from FT. It looks like it is actually the 60W version but I dont have a batt to test at the moment...One thing is the neg battery terminal has a black wire and the pos a red one - that is correct for DC right (sorry if that is a dumb question)?!?!

ps do the SXK chips have reverse battery protection?!?!

Just received mine as well, and it's the same with mine. Red for positive is correct, and these should have reverse battery protection (haven't tested though). Weird thing with mine is that I have to set my nickel purity to below 45 or I'll scorch cotton. Bloke has it on 70 on his flask, I got nasty burnt hits when I tried that. Would be grateful to hear your experience when you get batteries.

Thanks fo rthat. Just checking all ok!! Reverse batt pritection is not mentioned in the manual. Probably wont test that though!!

I'll let you know how the Ni purity test works out. It will probs be tomorrow though. Stay tuned. :)

have to say aside from the janky negative terminal spring, I like the build quality. No rattles, creaks etc. I will stuff it in a sharkskin anyway!
