have to say aside from the janky negative terminal spring, I like the build quality. No rattles, creaks etc. I will stuff it in a sharkskin anyway!

Yeah, I was positively surprised by the quality. Just hope that there's nothing wrong with mine due to the nickel purity weirdness, particularly as FT doesn't sell these anymore.

well i just emailed them today and he quoted a price of $60 for the squonker, didnt say the wattage and their page isnt clear on that either

Did Yiloong say when they would ship this? I skyped them at Yiloong after 6pm their time and the girl just snapped back that "the squonker will be ready to ship later this month....OK?" Apologized & told her I would try another time.

Mike at Waidea said they expect to be about a month as they just got in the sample of the original to duplicate. He said they would only be doing 40w as the original is and they only do 1:1 clones.

I told Mike I understood that but told him In view of the community's reaction to the SXK 40/50/60w flasks w/ nickel purity, floating 510 center pins, brass battery contacts, & no fire delays from sleep they might want to consider stepping up their game and add a higher wattage model to compete in the marketplace.

Pricing should be close to comparable to original.

He also told me the Rio Grand production samples were received & approved last week so they should be out any time now.

That doesn't look like one of the usually reported screen glitch. Does it correct after removing and re-installing the battery?

No, and as the hours pass it's progressively getting worse. I'm gonna have to contact evolv AGAIN and see what they'll do for me. They're going to be sick of hearing from me but this time it's not my fault. The ribbon cable isn't pinched or cut anywhere. The screen was seated correctly when I tightened down the top plate. I tried everything I could took top plate back off, wiggled screen/ribbon cable, no help. I'm thinking it's just a plain old defective screen. "Rage, rage against the dying of the light!"

It's pretty fragile where the ribbon attaches to the screen. I think they will take care of it just as they previously did.
Your probably getting good at changing them by now.

I wrote to him from the squonker page and received that reply, i have then emailed back asking clarification if its indeed the squonker version being shipped - yet to hear back.

I didnt contact Waidea and you are definitely more informed on what they are upto. Curious what is their standing against the repetitive actions by Vapor Flask to demand removal of products. Is it like they are aware of this but doesnt give a rats *ss or no clue?
I dont buy into doom-pron about them being wiped off but curious what would happen if the VF company keeps on upping their game trying to stop the clone production/distribution..

Also, if Waidea says they only do 1:1 clones, would it be safe to assume that they will not be releasing an updated SXK chip with purity settings? A lot is happening regarind ni80,titanium and i think purity setting would be handy to try those when they become more available.
I didnt manage to get the new Infinite/SXK VS and really want one with the new chip. Looks like SXK would be the only option (with that philips screws) then if Waidea wont do one with upgraded chip. FT supports keeps saying SXK doesnt make the VS anymore when i contact their CS repetitively and I dont really know what is the progress with FC getting hold of new SXK stock.

I think it was the psubardo Evolv factory video, where they were talking about QA issues with the screens and the likely issues with it.
I bet you can get the screen replaced with Evolv.

I don't actually think that Vapor Flask asked FT to remove them. I don't even think it is patented. I think Vapor Shark is the company that went after them with an attorney's cease and desist letter and the attorney pointed out that FT was infringing on another US product in the easily recognizable & similarly named Vapor Flask to bolster his own argument. FT just pulled everything mentioned in the letter including silicone skins! It just isn't worth litigating for them but those flasks carry no markings and are not 1:1 clones so I don't think any litigation would be successful.

Waidea would have to be worried if Vapor Flask went after them but frankly if they lost they would declare bankruptcy, start up a new company under a different name and continue business as usual without putting their name brand on the product and go back to the old ways of hiding their identity as the actual manufacturer. It was only this year that they made the decision to no longer hide what they do & I'm sure they have a plan of action in place ready to go back underground and hide under the many headed Hydra that the cloning industry initially fashioned for itself if it goes bad and they are sued.

You may be out of luck for a while on the vapor shark as they are the ones threatening everyone with lawsuits and Waidea has long ago removed them from their website and rid themselves of the product when Vs threatened them.

They just chalk it up to the limited life cycle of marketing a mod in the industry and move on to the next thing and that is the problem with getting them to upgrade their flasks because they view them as having a limited life cycle that has pretty much run it's course because everyone who wanted one pretty much already has one and the few that are left who didn't will manage to get one somewhere else if they drop them. It just isn't worth it for them to invest much more into the chassis because in a couple of months they will be selling these in the clearance section for $35 ea.

I do think Waidea will come out with higher wattage temperature controlled mods based on ChiNA40/50/60 and I'm sure they will take some of those chips and throw them in the flask when they do to try & ride the life cycle a little longer but they are more concerned with making the next new thing than upgrading the old one. The SXK chips were an original design that innovated & has value and I sincerely doubt they will share it with Waidea.

Looks like the ribbon cable that's glued to the glass display has come loose. Try squeezing it between your thumb and index finger.

Whoa. I was like 20 pages behind on the thread, so I glanced at the posts, didn't read every one of the 20 pages so this might be a repost.

The reason fasttech pulled the Vaporflask and the Vaporshark is because Vaporflask and Vaporshark have teamed up, they are releasing a large screen dna40 flask soon, they announced it at the show in Miami.. And it's going to be $100 lower than the current price so I'm guessing like $225'ish. That's authentic and as I understood it, it will be available from the Vaporshark site.

Somewhere (Facebook?) there's a promo video from the Miami event.

So that's why they pulled both devices, I guess they are the "same" company now.

I also read somewhere again, it's some kind of patent on the design or looks of the device. Not just the engravings and name like before. If that's true that will essentially kill clones of those devices. Unless they redesign them somewhat. But in the case of the shark, I'm guessing the screen on the bottom would have to be considered a signature design element? Not sure about that. That's just my opinion.

In any event, if your considering the clones of either device, get them from whoever has them quickly, because if what I read and understood was accurate, I'm sure most other vendors like focal will eventually pull them too at some point. But I would have to think fasttech is the goliath of direct from China sales, which explains why they were the first targeted. But I would have to imagine they (flask & shark people) know all the major distribution channels.

I saw this part about Vaporflask and Vaporshark working together on new VF. Can't wait for it, I will order this new version as soon as it gets out.
Besides larger screen there will be zip charging and I hope wireless charging as well.

On a side note, I asked a buddy of mine what he thought about the prices of many of our wonderful box mods (specifically the VS and VF). As an engineering major, he was befuddled as to why they were priced so high. He is no entrepreneur, so I'm sure he didn't take into account the cost of running a business...but still, $200+ for a box with a circuit board seems ridiculous. Rant over.

Just tried squeezing, fiddling with where the ribbon meets the screen. No dice, whole screen is still dark. I have to go into a dark room to see the screen now. Thanks for the advice though. Just sent evolv an e-mail.
