SO i got my rx200, yesterday, bought myself 6 new batteries. Immediately upgraded to 3.0.. now this is my first go at ANY temp control device. So I have only experimented with my Tfv4 using the tf-Ti coils. I began using it from a room temp state on Ti mode. I have it set to 480, locked resistance @.31, wattage set to 56.0 w. I get a decent vape but almost immediately hits temp control. I came across this thread mainly because i was trying to figure out this mod and how the M1-m3 settings work, so I gave those two settings a show, I tried setting m1 to 366, and m2 to 352, both settings gave about the same vape as the Ti mode, and both also hit the temp protection almost immediately. AM i doing something wrong? or is it the fact these Ti coils are dual coils that is throwing it off? or is it working as designed? I also have a Kanger head ssocc coil that is Ni (red grommet), I don't currently own any temp wire, just a1 kanthal at them moment.

Have you tried turning the wattage down

Don't have any prebuilt coils but with my TP builds I try to set the wattage like with KA1

Start lower than expect I need and gradually wind it up so the applied wattage brings the coil to temp smoothly

I know others like a fast ramp up and bounce around TP but I like a smoother vape

At a guess if that's 26awg in them I would start at 30w and go up 5w at a time till you find your sweet spot

If its smaller gauge wire start at 20w and go from there

I guess after using pencil style batteries and tea bag cartomizers I got caught up in the technology. It is amazing. I have no use for anything Evolv. Oh and I have a GGTS if you remember those and a non working Silver Bullett needs a new 510
I thought I was the only one left with a love for the STM's :) lol, I also have a Silver bullet sitting here, my 510 is working but, I would LOVE to see it get a spring loaded 510!!! I would use it if it had one ;)

Is anyone using the RX200 with the Crown SS coils in TC mode? Any issues with the vape?

I'm using the RX 200 with the Crown tank (RBA, NOT prebuilt coils) running 3mm dia 24 gauge Grade 1 titanium coils/ 7 wraps and have had no problem at all. All is working perfectly.

I generally do not like prebuilt coils because of the long legs.

did you lower the wattage, or are you still at 200 watts in TC mode?
hitting temp control isn't a bad thing, its just the mod doing its job.....if you are hitting temp protection but still getting a good vape.......if you are at too high of watts, it will hit temp protection really quick

Hello everyone I have been reading through this thread for a while now and using my RX for several days and truly love it but I want to step out of my element a little bit with the temp control I have only used kanthal on a crown rba and my troll rda that I love but I am not sure what to buy to start I usually make my coils around .3 to .6 depending so if any of you could point me in the right direction I know this is not a thread for wire but I will be using it on my RX I would greatly appreciate any help so I can use this to its full potential

I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

I took my RX along on my travels and was very glad I did. A couple knocks though: the resistance lock should be listed as a resistance suggestion as it will change even when locked, and the 510 is perhaps the weakest link in the Reuleaux chain. But I am nevertheless very happy with it. I am hoping a new 510 will put it over the top.

And vapbamafaye, I found Titanium a very easy entry into the world of TC, but as it is with almost everything about vaping it is entirely subjective. The other folks here have a lot more experience with TC than me and I will defer to them in such matters, but I reckon Ti is perhaps a good place to start. I use #26 wire and typically end up with a consistent .35 build which seems to work well enough with my RX, but again there are multiple variables and your mileage will vary.

edit: I just updated to 3.0 and will report if the res lock is obeying my commands now. Still, bloody terrific to get variable TCR! I gotta say, if this device lasts it will possibly be the best value for the price I have yet seen.

Stainless Steel is likely the easiest entry into Temp Protection, try SS316

Build and work out hot spots like Kanthal

Ti is my favourite but there is a learning curve

The Ti Masters can be found here

Titanium wire, vaping and safety

@druckle @TheotherSteveS @tchavei @JimScotty0

More info on all wires here

TC beyond Ni200: Nickel Purity, Dicodes; Ti, SS, Resistherm NiFe30; Coefficient of Resistance

Thank you very much for the help

I noticed today that after I put freshly charged batts in with the 3.0 update installed, they all read 4.20v :) not discharging evenly though... close but, not DNA200 close ;)
That's the only time mine read right but even when they are off .05v the cells read within .01 when I put them in a charger.

I still have & love my STM although it feels like MTL even wide open compared to my Mutation MT or my TFV4! LOL!

Ok these kinda covers worry me a little! Won't this one & the leather one cause heat build up in the mod? Because my attys transfer some heat into my RX and it seems that these kind of covers would hold the heat in! Just asking cuz I don't really know!

Nope I have a $2 Vapesoon one on my evic vtc mini

& a ten x dearer one from Valentino on an M Class

Both have been used daily as work mods without any issue

Actually helps them sit nicely in a cup holder together too :thumb:

The higher the TCR value, the more accurate the temp control... all things being equal.
So, in theory, Nickel over Titanium over Stainless.
Some prefer Ti over Ni, feel it's a cleaner flavor.
I'm mainly using SS because I can use either Power mode or TC, depending on mood.
The various NiFe types (Kanthal 52, 70 etc) are high in TCR and dual use, but not common (yet).
Haven't got my hands on any yet though, looking forward to trying some.

If you have the 0.25 and 0.5 factory heads for your Crown... they're SS wire. TC 'em. :D
