If you are talking about holding the leads together and subtracting that value from the reading, then you missed one small thing...

A negative sign...

You said when you touched the leads together, it reads 2 ohms...

Prior to that you said your atomizer was reading 1.7 Ohms

If you subtract 2 from 1.7 that leaves you with -.3 Ohms... Which is impossible...

Where are you getting .3 from? Where are you measuring the resistance?

I put my test leads on my atty's 510 connection. black on the outer threads, red on the center post. it measures 1.7 on the 200 setting on my DVM. then i touch the test leads together and it measures 2.0, i then subtract 2.0 from 1.7 and get .3 does that sound about right?

Nope... This would be -.3, not .3

1.7 - 2.0

...! really? just when i thought i was getting a good idea of where my ohms were. and sorry blix. i meant a big thank you for the good info and sorry to kable for mistaken identity =x

so what does that mean negative ohms?

Negative Ohms means you're not doing something right... LoL

alright.. i made a double coil with tripple twisted 30 gauge kanthal in 3 loops on each wick which is made of 4 strands of 3mm silica. the ohms on my nimbus are measuring at .002!! im getting tons of great clouds.. nice warm vapor.. im really enjoying it but can this be bad in any way? its not going to blow up is it?

im pretty sure its .002 ohms... could be.. im still not sure i know how to use this multimeter right. in the 20k switch position i measured 0.00 so i switched to 2k switch position and measured .002... is that right?

6 loops of 30 guage kanthal is not going to be 0.002 ohms. 2.0 ohms maybe. Shift the decimal place over three to the right, because you're on a setting using thousands.

ok so i've retraced my steps... ive found that i get different readings if i dont use the very tip of my test leads. i guess this is what i get for getting a cheap DMM off amazon. so now my atty is coming in @ 1.8 and my DMM @ 1.6 so im @ .2 right?

I'd say the more likely scenario is that you are doing something fishy when you're putting your meter leads together.

I believe that your RBA really is at 1.7 - 1.8 Ohms...

I do NOT believe that your meter leads (which, BTW, should be as transparent to the circuit as possible, AKA ZERO resistance) have a cumulative 1.6 Ohm impedence... That is WAY off...

When you touch them together, make sure your fingers aren't touching the metal parts of the leads at all. If they are still reading 1.6 ohms, then I would look into getting some different meter leads... Cause 1.6 Ohms of resistance accross the meter leads makes for a pretty useless meter...

As was stated earlier, I believe the correct setting for your meter is 2M. If you multiple .002 by 1000 you will get 2ohms. Give it a go and all will be right with the world and the laws of physics will reign once more.

Nah, he's in the right spot at the 200 range... He is reading something from 0-200 Ohms... If he was reading something from 0 - 2,000,000 Ohms, I would say yes, go to 2M :)

its tripple twist, dual coil, on some fat fat wicks... its equivalent to 18 fat loops of kanthal. im more apt to believe .2 than 2. plus 2 ohms on a mechanical mod is just boring and im enjoying this way too much for it to be boring.

If it were possible... on a mechanical mod, at 3.7 volts and 0.2 ohms - you think you're really vaping at 68.45 watts? And your juice tastes fine? And your battery can handle an 18.5 amp pull?

No it can't be 0.2 ohm, you would not be able to vape, and your battery would most likely go into a thermonuclear meltdown...
