I can't tell you all how appreciative I am for this thread! Special thanks to Papa the OP! It's all the information I've needed to know about the RM3 for a long time (well, 2 or 3 weeks anyway). So...no doubt about it, Rob is going to throw me in the dirt because now I'm changing my already placed order. But not to worry! I have a couple of REO's to provide me consolation and comfort! Isn't that what they're for! :)

The only thing I'm wondering about it this...small as it is, I find the RM2 to be the easiest thing to build on the planet. If the RM3 has an even smaller interior, will it be much more difficult to build a dual-coil in there?

Thanks again for this great thread! :)

I have a hard time getting 2 28g wires through the hole in the center post, 30g may be easier & I'll probably try that next time.
I wrap micro coils on 1/16th drill bit & they fit just fine. It's definitely not as easy as throwing a single coil in an RM2 (imo) but it's worth it. :)

I had to change out the screws in my cyclone (allen key they sent didn't fit, couldn't find one that did & I ended up stripping the screws) so I bought a 10 pack of hex screws and a nice .09mm driver and now I just prefer them to the phillips... changed out the screws in most of my attys so I wouldn't have to carry 2 drivers when I travel. They screw down past the top of the post (so no chance of them touching each other & shorting) and they don't seem to back out/loosen up like some other screws I use.

I buy the .85 cent 'Mini Stainless Steel Screwdriver Keychain' from Fasttech. I remove the keychain hook. They're the handiest tool I've ever had. Especially for using on these posts, and they're well-made and perfect for my miniature rebuilding kit. I buy those screwdrivers and give them away. (No, I'm not a salesman for FT) :)

Alright, Papa_Lazarou... you talked me in to it. If the draw is super similar to the RM2, then I'm willing to give one a try for sure.

I had pretty much 2 reasons I waited so long to try any sort of rebuildable (owned an RM1 for over a year without taking it out of the bag). 1) 3 of my 4 favorite commercial attys all have pretty close to the same draw and I like it - 2) Rebuilding seemed like it was probably sort of a hassle and I've been all about reducing the hassle for a long time now.

The RM2 has a very similar draw to the commercial attys I like - And, rebuilding turned out to be not that big of a deal or all that time consuming.

One of my still shiny-new RM2s got damaged yesterday and though it still works fine, I don't like the fact it sits crooked on my REO now... So, on your advice, I'm replacing it with an RM3 Dual Coil. --> I'll let you know how it goes later this week when it gets here.

Well, I want to thank you Papa_L for the initial review you provided. After cruising along with the RM2 for a solid year on my one and only Grand and feeling like it couldn't get much better, I followed your advice and got the dual-coil RM3. For the first couple of weeks I played around with different builds (27 and 28g) but kept going back to old faithful (RM2) - just couldn't get it completely dialed in to my liking. Then I saw one of Super-X's videos on the Odin and saw him using 29g at 6 wraps, so I decided to try two 6-wraps of 30g around a 1/16 drill bit at .59 ohms and BAAM! This little RM3 is kickin consistent stellar flavor and huge vapor! Not sure why, but the smaller diameter wire really made a big difference for me on this setup. I can't believe I'm saying this but the RM2 is in the back seat now. I still love it too, but the DC RM3 is simply outperforming it for flavor and vapor. It's producing a nice warm full vapor - but not too hot.

Just when you think you have the best setup going, something comes along and trumps it. My next adventure will be the Odin (once I scrape together the coin for an LP Grand). Could it be even better? Time will tell and it will be a lot of fun testing those waters. Thanks again for sharing your findings.

Forgot to mention that I drilled the air holes to 1/16 as well. Seemed a little airy at first but it didn't take but a day or so to get used to it. Still loving this little rockin RM3.

I got my rm3 today, put in duals of 28 ga ten wraps. Meters around .5. This little guy brought out a new dimension of flavor for me, nice hot wet vape. The draw is a little tight for lung hits, so in a day or so I might open them up a bit. Very pleased so far, with one exception, they screw cut the wire. Gotta pop the out and grind the bottoms flat.
