You can take a file and round the sharp edges at the base of the screws. I said screw it

and bought some of these:
Stainless Metric Socket Set Screw 25-2mm x.4x4mm
Ordered. Thanks. I appreciate that very much.
Happened to me too, twice. I just assumed it was my off center post cuz it happened on that one both times
After putting on my readers and finding my magnifying glass.... I'm convinced it's the screws in my case. They're sharp and will thread too far below the post holes.
Six, here is a good thread on screws cutting your wire.
Thanks. That's what I was looking for. I remembered making note there could be some sort of issue with the screws, but I couldn't remember where I read it.
On the second attempt, I went a lot easier on the screws and didn't let them cut off my wire (may have to occasionally revisit these coils to make sure the screws stay tight). When I need to replace these coils, I'll probably have the new screws by then, but will take my 1000 grit diamond hone to the bottoms of these so I don't forget and end up doing this again sometime.
And for Papa_Lazarou : I think this will do. Thanks for the advice. ... I made a pair of 1.4 ohm coils, got them installed, they heat up evenly, I wicked them with KGD, and this churns out some nice warm flavorful vapor at .7 ohms.
My notes : Sort of a pain to build. The first attempt was a pair of perfect looking coils I decapitated with the screws. The second attempt is one perfect looking and one mildly lopsided coil, but they heat up evenly and read exactly what I thought they would at .7. Running duals, the metal DT had to go even though I like the size and shape. It's a Pyrex DT for this atty.
I like the RM3 cap better than the RM2 cap because I won't ever have to think about how screwing the cap on might catch my wick and drag it around. The draw from either cap is pretty close to the same and that was my major concern. I like the RM2 deck better for that safety net of being ceramic so I don't have to think about shorting off the deck (I doubt I ever will, but I like the fact I don't have to even think about it with the RM2).
Flavor... Yes. As good maybe even a little better than the RM2. I had to load up my previous all day vape to get a good read on the flavor since I'm still pretty new to unflavored. It's excellent.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this atty, and I'm likely to pick up a spare sometime. The RM2 is a lot easier to build, but I think this one is worth the extra effort.
