Pickel and Ice's posts pretty well discribe the dilemma that many face when trying to decide between a Darwin and a ProVari...both are top-of-the-line mods.......each has features that many like......if you are fortunate enough to have both, then you have the best of both worlds...if you only can get one, choose the one with the features you like best and go-for-it...
TRUER WORDS WERE NEVER SPOKEN! (great advice)
When I bought my Darwin I thought I would sell the one I liked the least by the end the weekend, (ProVari - Darwin) But the more time that goes by I just think I will keep the ProVari as well. That being said, the Darwin is my main PV at this time!

Where do I think this is going to go?...well after Christmas I may just buy a second Darwin for a back up PV or the new kick :)

Having both right now for me is a real Win - Win

Ok, I know that this question has been asked a million times.... I want a good back up mod..I already have a provari..and am already considering one of the blue led ones for cyber mondays sale but I kinda want a darwin.... without starting a fanboy shootout at the ecf corral....what are some of some of your expirences and what would you go with? just constructive insight please......

Hi slumdog,

I sure wish I could give you a vote here, but I do not own a ProVari. That being said, I would also agree with those who have suggested that you get the Darwin. You'd have the best of both worlds and in addition, become another valuable source of information for future Darwin or ProVari owners.

Up til now on your thread, the leaderboard is as follows:

Darwin, 15
ProVari, 5
Buzz pro or infinity pro, 1 elf

Make that two for the Buzz/Infinity Pro if you are looking at variable voltage. Handles up to 15 watts and handles 1.5Ω attys up to 4.8v. Both use wheel on the fly with Buck circiutry that nearly doubles battery life. And $30 - $50 less.

Let it be noted I am neither a troll, elf or fanboi :)

I gotta give the elf credit. Buzz/Infinity is a very solid recommendation. Not as many bells-n-whistles as either Darwin or Provari, but still awesome devices with nice price tags. Well worth having, even if only as a backup device ;-)

Good info, from you and from the Wharf. Both respected.

The Kat~

Nice info everyone.. But I could not resist a blue provari... But not to fret, because Friday I will order my Darwin.. And it will actually make it to me b4 my new provari....

provari doesnt take that long to ship, it says on their webpage it takes 2 or more weeks for it to be delivered, i think theyre exaggerating mine only took 3 or 4 days
