21700 question

I definitely couldn't say for sure, but I think so.. All the YT vids that I watch about putting together a hundred or so cells for an electric car battery use the bigger cells. I'm happy though that my two mods that use 2x700's can also use an 18650 w/ a button cap/sleeve to make it fit.

Until 2023 it seemed so, but in almost two years there has been a strong return to the 18650 battery. Many 21700 mods are far too big compared to an 18650 one, and with almost the same size it is often easier to choose a dual 18650. This has also been influenced by the rare pod mods that support the 18650 format, and AIO / Billet-style devices which, in order to remain compact, cannot support 21700 batteries.

I'm sorry to see that in the meantime, mechanical vaping has practically died out. With the quality 21700 batteries now available, it's really so much more convenient and easy.

It seems like there's more happening on the battery front there, but for now new technology is coming down to 18650, just slowly.
There are still a lot of 18650 mods being made, and on mods under 60w I don't think 18650 will ever be phased out. On pods, 21700 will never be the big deal, and that's where volume is relevant in vaping.

It's a shame the 18500 more or less disappeared, or never got battery upgrades like 18650 and 21700, formidable size if mods are supposed to be short and compact.
