yea, a new mod just isnt in the budget right now. My wife would probably beat me to death with it...
Sorry to hear that. It might be my next mod. I think it's like 60 bucks and it can go to 160 watts. I completely understand. I just wouldn't try to run ss if that mod isn't made for it. That's just me tho.yea, a new mod just isnt in the budget right now. My wife would probably beat me to death with it...
So then just wait for a mod that has a dedicated mode for stainless. I may do the same to be honest. And yeah smok has rave reviews on their new tanks even tho they used to be making clones and crap products. And for the price they sell their stuff. They are a new factor in the market tho. Pretty popular it seems. As long as everyone is safe and enjoying themselvesI'm Old School.
And am a Firm Believer that Less to Go Wrong is Less to Go Wrong.
And I would Read a Lot of Actual User reviews before I purchased a SMOK product that is supposed to do TC.

I just recently bought a d2. Does decent with nickel in it. I still need to buy titanium for it. But I'm also gonna get Nichrome and possibly stainless for power mode. But yeah if you want a cheap mod that does titanium then go get the d2.I dunno if it is Worth waiting or Not.
Some People say that they are Waiting to buy a TC Mod because the one they like Doesn't have a Titanium Setting.
None of my TC Mods have a Ti setting. I just Reduce the Temperature by about 100F. So It doesn't seem like a Deal Breaker if there is No SS setting.
TC technology is Evolving Quickly. And if you don't have a Huge Need to use TC, maybe it is better to wait a little bit. But then you Don't get to see if TC is right for you? So it is kinda a Catch-22.
SMOK has had some Problems with Mods in the Past. But then again, Most OEM's have also.

D2 is 50 bucks. You know you want it. Nah if you have good gear now don't bother I guess. It was a definitely upgrade for me coming from using a cloupor mini. What's your main rig right now? Idk d2 has been kinda game changer for me. It's like the most powerful mod for it's form factor and class I believe. I mean this is the smallest mod I have ever owned and it still maxes out at 75w and 50 in tc (which is plenty)I am Seriously Considering giving my Credit Cards to a friend of mine for a Safe Keeping.
Seems like Every Time I turn around there is Another cool Mod to Consider.
I am 75 Dollar-ing myself to Death.

Unfortunately my experiences with N80 are limited so my comparison may not be great. For over a year I used Kanthal A1 and near the end of using the Kanthal I started to experiment with Nichrome but I only used it for about a week. My main reasoning for not using it very long is that I discovered 304 Stainless Steel about a week into Nichrome use and the very first coil I made with 304 put the nail in the Nicrhome coffin. Crisp flavor without tasting the wire would be the best way for me to describe it, and the flavor doesn't change if the wire is older, still dry burns clean and after a re-wick it's just as good as building a brand new fresh coil.
304 is pretty similar to Nichrome in that you need to use short pulses when initially firing it to get the coil to heat up evenly and since is has a lower melting point than most vape specific wires the 304 can "pop" if you get the wire too hot(over 1600°F) but Honestly I've not had any issues with popping a coil once they're wicked and installed, it's a bit like Nichrome in that respect, if you dry fire it too long it will just melt the coil.

I haven't heard of half those mods. The ipv d2 is basically a better version of the ipv mini 2. Tho it is cheaper surprisingly. Idk I wanna save up for something good like an sx mini. But my next mod is likely to be either a squonker or a two batt mod. I think they finally have a small enough form factor for my likingThe $50 ones are the Ones I am Most Defenseless against. I bought this about 34 Minutes ago. LOL
Wismec Venti Kit
Didn't Really Need it. Because I have an eGo One 1100mah that I have been Using as an Out-n-About Mod. But the Venti takes the Same CLR Rebuildable Head as the eGo One. And a 2.5ml tank on the eGo One wasn't cutting it.
What's my Main Rig? I use a Kangxin VF Mini about 50% of the Time. The Rest I rotate between a Smowell DPV-50, a iStick 40WTC, and a IPV v2 Mini.

No, that is in no way what I am saying. The very first time you dry burn it you're going to start the color changing process and through repeated use it will continue to darken, after a while when you dry burn it it turns back to a lighter greyish color but it will never go back to being super shiny as it first started, it looks like unpolished grey steel after a dry burn(even the very first one). What I'm really doing is comparing it to Kanthal A1, with my use after about a week or so with a Kanthal A1 coil the aluminum oxide outer layer which forms becomes depleted which in turn changes the way the coil performs and tastes to me. What I am saying is that in my experiences, even after MONTHS of using the same coils with 304 SS I do not notice ANY change of flavor or performance loss, if anything...it actually gets better with age.Just to be clear, are you saying the 304 steel remains shiny like new after repeated dryburns?
D2 got tc and beats that out by a pinch probably. I think x cube will definitely be my next mod but I'll wait to get it. See what's going on. Like anything else one big money scheme. But hey as long as we aren't smoking whatever. That's really the way we need to look at thisLOL
Yeah... The Kangxin VF Mini and the Smowell DPV-50 are what I would call Mods that Fly Under the Radar.
I've owned a Lot of Mods. But for pure Bang for you Buck, the Smowell is about at the Top of the List.
$31.97 Authentic Smowell DPV-50 Variable Wattage VW APV Box Mod - 6-50W / 1*18650 / black at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
For a Non-TC Mod, It is probably my Favorite.

We could be spending more now but a lot of us diy juice and coils to save money for mods. Hell some diy mods. I feel like toppers is where people spend a lot of money lol. You could just make like 175 your monthly budge then if you don't already. You could easily stay at or below that. You're still saving your health and have a new hobby.I've Got TC on 2 of my other Mods. And to Honest. I don't run TC all the time.
There is something about the Feel of the Smowell that I Really Like. That and it is Light. Very Light.
Yeah... As Long as one Doesn't go Back to Cigarettes, that is what is Important. Whenever I get a little Credit Card Crazy (CCC) buying Mods or Tanks or whatever, I just tell myself that I was spending about $175/Month (every Month!) on Analogs.
And that was 5 Years Ago. Cigarettes have gone Up since I Switched.
I noticed that at my local craft store they sell "Beadalon" wire in 316L... 18g down to 24g. Im thinking I might grab a spool and give it a shot. when running it in TC mode how far off is your temps? I have an upgraded IPV4 which has the programming for NI200 and TI... if I wanted to run at 400f where about should I set the temp if Im using 316L?
Stainless steel has a much different thermal coefficient than Nickel, which means Stainless Steel cools off much faster than Nickel and this is probably the reason you experienced singed cotton with Nickel but not with 316L. If you look at this chart Thermal Conductivity of some common Materials and Gases you will notice that Nickel has a VERY high W/(m K) of 91, however Stainless Steel has a much lower W/(m K) of just 16.Have the IPV 4S and did TC with 316L using the Titanium setting (hey, why not?) and my usual 400-430 F. TC does work but the vape was warmer so I'd start at 360 and work my way up. Even though the vape was warmer my cotton didn't get scorched, btw. On pre-built stock nickel coils I have had singed cotton at 430 so that was interesting.
